With great views posted on the website, I was excited to at least have brunch at West. However, upon arrival at 12:30pm on a Saturday, there was no one to seat us, and we wandered around until someone finally took notice and sat us. Many tables were not busses and no staff was in sight until about ten minutes after being seated we were met by an underwhelming waitress. After putting in drink orders, which didn’t arrive for another ten minutes, we were asked our order and left to sit for another twenty minutes. Mind you, this was a table of five people, and there was only one other couple dining in the entire restaurant. What should have been taken as an indicator by me that this was not a place to have brunch was soon obvious when our food was delivered to middling results. My burger was delicious, however the fries were obviously from a frozen bag and bland. Everyone else’s breakfast type items were met with little excitement, as they also didn’t deliver on the flavor.
Beautiful views of the Westside, but that’s all. Come for a drink.
All aspects of the evening were delightful on all counts. Good service, food and ambiance made for a very successful night out on the town.
I celebrated New Year’s Eve with my girlfriend here. For 150 each, we got a wonderful dinner, a lovely view, and a glass of Moët each. There were also some small party favors. The food was great, she had the lobster bisque and though I’m not the biggest fan of lobster I thought it was very good. The Filet Oscar was exceptional. I tried the pork belly, which was cooked very well.
Delicious food and wonderful views! We like the tip-free policy and our bill was comparable to what we pay with tip in similar restaurants in Los Angeles and San Francisco.
We had a lovely low key Christmas dinner there. Beautiful view, nice menu choices. Great service. 2 of our party of 5 were about 30 minutes late and they did not give us a hard time at all. I would go back!
The hostess never showed up. We waited for a long while and were ignored by staff. The view is beautiful and the decor is nice, but that's all the good I can say. They had 2 servers on the floor, no one else we ever saw. Seems no one is in charge of the place and no one cares. I actually went behind the hostess stand and validated my own parking. As we were getting on the elevator, one of the servers suddenly became interested. I told him to go deliver the food in his hands, it was getting cold.
A great place to enjoy the view and good food. Love the “no tip” pricing. Very friendly staff especially Bianca.
The waiter was not attentive. He did the very minimum.
First of all, the restaurant on the top floor was closed so they served everyone on the 16th floor. Secondly there weren’t many of us and yet the service was very slow. Had to wait very long to keep getting our water refilled. Lastly the ambience was blah. It looked like they just took an empty room and made it into a makeshift restaurant at the last minute. If I knew that the restaurant was going to be close, we would’ve never gone there that night. They should’ve told us when we made the reservation that we would not be eating in the restaurant level!
The most bland food I have ever had. There were 5 of us and each had something different including appetizers and everything from the apps to the main courses was bland. I never put salt or peppe on my food and could not get enough on it that’s how bland the food was. Cocktails were good and that’s about it.
Lovely to look at, wonderful view. Drinks were delicious but my date and I were disappointed with the food. I had scallops and shrimp over udon noodles with a brown sauce. It was extremely salty and I could not eat the noodles because they were dripping in the sauce. My girlfriend had rib eye with puttanesca (which, admittedly is a salty sauce) and it was so salty even after scraping off the sauce that she did not enjoy it.
We liked everything else and will probably go back to the bar side and enjoy drinks and snacks with a great view.
Good food, annoying background music. Not good for conversation.
Due to the Woolsey fires in Southern California, we had to evacuate and stay at the Angeleno. We had to spend my daughter’s 18th birthday breakfast at the West. The servers were so gracious and friendly. The food was excellent with rather large portions. Then sometime soon, a jazz bassist came and played ambiance music. It was lovely.
In a trying situation and they helped us make the best of it.
We celebrated a small private 50th Birthday celebration. It was very quiet that night possibly due to the local fires.
Our waiter was very attentive and helpful with our questions. Even though they have a “no tip” policy, we still tipped him
because we really appreciated his
concern and willingness to make our experience great.
Our after dinner desert was delicious. We all had wonderful conversation and quality
time with each other enjoying the
brightly lit view of the 405, which was quite relaxing.
The best part is our drive home was less than 5 minutes.
We will definitely come more often,
possibly happy hour since it is so close and convenient!
The West has an amazing view but the food was completely not worth it at all.
This place was amazing . The staff was very attentive .
Really nice location with spectacular views. It's a bit pricey, but if you want to impress your girl, this is the place to take her.
great Bar with a fantastic view all the way From Century City to Santa Monica. unfortunately the food was overpriced for what you got. it was good but a bit of a letdown. we ordered the porterhouse stake for $54 and it was less than 1/2 inch thick about what you get at Dennys. the pork belly and scallops appetizer
were very good. so perhaps this is more of a sky bar.
I don’t understand the point of valet validation if you still have to pay for parking
View was terrific. Good service. Food was good. Great place when on vacation , birthdays and special occasions. Wine was also very good
Great ambiance, food, and service. If you want fine dining and great service, go to this restaurant. Took my boyfriend here as a surprise birthday and he was very impressed.
Great find! Henry our server was superb, and the food was delicious!
This restaurant came highly recommended on line. It was okay but did not even come close to expectations. There was nothing only one other party there, the servers were very nice but hard to find and forgetful, the decor and restrooms needed upgrading and it was overall very blah. We were expecting great and got “meh.”
Don't go. Beautiful view however the windows had weird crusty objects stuck to it and was dirty and old. No one was there during lunch, empty. Service was beyond painfully slow. Glaringly empty. Food had absolutely no flavor at all. None. I've never eaten food that had absolutely no taste. Until now.
I chose West for a business breakfast with a client from out-of-town because I knew she would enjoy the panoramic view as well as the ability to spread out and work quietly even while others were around us. But most of all I chose it for the great three-egg omelettes, among the best and most indulgent around (at least four ingredients of your choice).
We went for brunch and the food was excellent ad the ambience great, but the service was extremely slow and we had to remind our server to bring items we requested. West has become a no tipping restaurant since we were last there and I think that has negatively effected the level of service.
It was sooo bad we did not get charged for our dinner. Everything that could go wrong, went wrong, from not being able to get a table in spite of having a reservation, waiting for over one and a half hour to be served, to having to return the food to the kitchen because it was inedible. The manager finally stepped up to the plate when I lost it and was on the verge of tears. I honestly cannot recommend it nor will I go again.
I was in town for business and had dinner here on my own. The view was spectacular, the space really comfortable and pleasing. Loved the leather club chairs. The roasted bone marrow appetizer was fantastic. The waiter recommended a really nice and unusual beer. Dinner was a very fresh smoked-salmon salad. I just loved the restaurant and the experience.
We came early and were seated in the lounge which had the best views of LA and super comfortable, intimate seating. Dinner itself was just the right noise and energy level, we could still converse and enjoy the music. The food was incredible and we were all so impressed. The servers were kind and attentive. Also the drinks were delicious! Refreshing and not super sugary. Will come back!
Russell was a great waiter. The salmon with the risotto and asparagus was delicious. The shrimp and grits was also delightful. Cherry cheesecake for dessert was a great ending.
I think the ambience here is amazing and food was great. My dad got the salmon he was happy I got the shrimp Food was great but the server was soooooooo slow. It took him 4 trips to bring wine and bread. Nice guy but again slow. I didn’t mind as much cause we weren’t in a rush but it was odd.
We went for a birthday celebration for the first time last Saturday and I must say that everything was excellent. The ambiance was classy and chic, and the view of the 405 was fantastic, with us watching all of the traffic while we were talking and eating a fine meal. At our table, we ordered the seafood stew, short ribs, and rack of lamb. Portion sizes were large and prices very reasonable. The most expensive dish was the ribeye, and it came with a loaded baked potato and vegetables for an impressive $52. This may not sound impressive, but when you figure that this restaurant is GRATUITY-FREE, you will come to realize what a good value this is! The wine list is very adequate for every price range.
There is a 5-course tasting meal for $85, $110 with wine pairing, and you get to choose any 3 entrees on the menu, including the specials, to supplement the appetizer and dessert. We didn't choose this only because we weren't ravenous, but we can only imagine how good this would be.
All in all, very impressed with the whole experience and will definitely come back! (It is great to have a tip-free restaurant like those in Europe or Japan, and hope more higher-end restaurants start to do this soon!)
Our server, Bianca, was very helpful and friendly. Made the entire dinner enjoyable even more than just the amazing taste of the food. Definitely recommend to anyone looking for a beautiful view and fine dining experience
Great view, personable service, AWESOME steak!!!!!! Food was a pleasant surprise for a hotel restaurant - and a view. Will come back for dinner again for sure! Breakfast was good, too. They have a no-tipping policy - so it's all included which makes it a great bargain also - and staff were all friendly and top-notch - - and not just for the tip - REAL customer service for the sake of good service. Unfortunately, a novel thing nowadays. Treat yourself and stay in this historic hotel also. Fun views, great pool hangout, etc. Again - restaurant was NOT your typical hotel food - it was GREAT!!!!! Keep up the good work!
Lovely place for lunch! Quiet, good food choices & lovely view. It’s nice to be able to have a conversation without competing with loud pounding music! And this is a no tip property, making payment quite simple. I’ll be back!
Love this place! Took my boyfriend here for his birthday and they were very helpful to make his birthday special. Food was great, view was beautiful and the energy was nice.
Sad expensive experience
The staff was wonderful!! The food was great!! Loved the view!!!
Beautiful views of Los Angeles, very quite and comfortable atmosphere. Attentive service. Not much innovation in food, but good range and all is without miss excellently prepared. Its on the pricey side, but the possibility to have a conversation is worth it! I highly recommend and would come back any time - especially if someone else were paying....
Had a 2pm reservation on Aa Sunday.
Then informed at the restaurant that brunch ends at 2pm and we would need to sit in the lounge.
Food was OK.
