This Friday was the second time we dined at West Coast Provisions. The previous time was a Thursday. On both visits the food was excellently prepared. Tasty and good portions. The main detraction is the noise level. There is nothing soft in the restaurant, so on both occasions, but especially a crowded Friday, it was difficult to hear others at our table. Not bad if you read lips.
I tried calling the reservation line but never received a confirmation that they had picked up the voicemail. So I used Open Table where a confirmation is sent immediately.
Excellent fish tacos!
A bit loud. Too many flies! Food was great- love the environment- wish the bugs inside were somehow controlled but the front door was wide open.
Enjoyable atmosphere food is phenomenal. Thank goodness this restaurant has decided to open up in the WestEnd of Richmond Virginia. With so many chain restaurants opening lately, providing poor service, quality of food being unacceptable happiness has been delivered. I know they are working on reducing the noise level. The architectural design didn't pick up on this. That being said yelp is about food great job guys.
The food is fresh and absolutely amazing! Can’t get enough of the calamari!
My first time there and I loved it.
We had a great bottle of wine. Loved the cheese plate.
The corn and crab soup was to die for.
Server was delightful.
Will definitely go back!
Quite noisy. Good food and service.
Good food and service fairly priced. Noise level pretty high.
Food is creative and delicious. Lots of options. Server was un-engaged and did not know food & preparations particularly well. Trainable, maybe? Competition is hot in the area. Nonetheless, I'd try it again in a few months.
This was our first time at West Coast Provisions and it did not disappoint. I had the crab cakes and they were delicious. Also, we had a terrific server, Matt. He was very nice, attentive and helped make this a most enjoyable dining experience. We will be frequent customers of this fun restaurant.
We celebrated a friends birthday here with a large group. The food and cocktails were amazing! Overall the service was good but we arrived at exactly our reservation time with 10 of the 11 present. We waited to be seated as they had not yet set our table, they didn’t start on it until after we checked-in. After being seated we were still one chair short which we had to ask for several times. It took us about 40min to receive our first round of drinks, thankfully the second didn’t take as long but it was a little frustrating. All and all everyone enjoyed the food and atmosphere.
Food and service were good. My bill was incorrect and the restaurant was very loud.
Food was very good. Service was excellent. Kudos to Matt! New fun restaurant. It was very loud inside. Like the energy, but add some more plants and pictures to help absorb the significant noise level. I will return as this was very, very good overall.
Atmosphere and design of the space was great, however they still need to work out the kinks with the food taste and presentation to match the prices.
The food was only average. The cauliflower au graten was burnt and atsted burnt.
Our waiter was nice and we got a free dessert for the burnt cauliflower.
Wonderful from start to finish. Scallops, oysters, lamb, and steaks were all amazing. Can’t wait to return!
We really enjoyed our dinner. However, we thought we were going to sit inside but it was way too noisy. (Can you do something about the noise level??). Luckily, we were able to sit at a table outside - and as soon as we went out the door we noticed how much quieter it became - so we were able to carry on a conversation.
I enjoyed my dinner with my family. It is loud. Lively atmosphere.
The noise level is high inside. It might be a good idea to add noise buffers to decrease the sounds. It is hard for people with hearing aids or people with hearing disabilities to be in areas that are loud.
The food and service were excellent!
Love this restaurant but it was so loud inside I couldn't hear anyone at my table.
The noise level was too much to enjoy our dinner. Only two at our table and had to shout to hear each other.
Everything was tasty, but; there was a strange presentation of the pineapple upside down cake
This was our first time at this new offering in Short Pump. The food was excellent. We had sushi (spicy tuna) to start; the dish could not have been better! Our two entrees were both seafood, Rockfish and Wahoo. the Rockfish was excellent, perfectly cooked and well seasoned. The Wahoo was ordered grilled; it arrived somewhat undercooked, but tasty nonetheless.
Our only negative was the service. We specifically asked that the entrees be delayed somewhat so that we could enjoy our drinks and sushi. In spite of this specific request, while still savoring the last bite of sushi, and with portions of our cocktails still in the glass, the entrees appeared. We felt rushed, to say the least. We will still go back, but next time we will order our entrees later in the process.
Food was great but service was AWFUL!
ordered donuts for an appetizer and they were delish but took quite a while to come out of the kitchen. had to send back the fish tacos as they had cilantro sprinkled on them which I ordered without.
Other than delay of food, nice brunch.
Food was great! Will definitely go back
The night started with water being spilled on us and overcooked food in bowls but other than that it was not a bad time. The drinks that we ordered weren't bad and the desert was good, but I don't think I will be back for a little while and try it again later or maybe a different time of day. I love East Coast, and I was hoping that I would love this place just as much seeing how close to home it is but that's not the case from this time.
We were celebrating 2 birthdays and the food was delicious. The restaurant is a bit noisy but overall, the experience was good.
I went to West Coast Provisions with some friends for lunch. The food was all delicious as were the drinks. The sangria was surprisingly light and fresh tasting. Those truffle fries are the reason I'll go back again though. If there was one drawback, it was the small portion of fish on my other wise large salad. The service was impeccable. I'd recommend West Coast to anyone.
Enjoyed our visit. Service was efficient and friendly. The shaved octopus appetizer was special. Also the tuna crudo. My daughter enjoyed the fish sandwich- a sizable fish filet, and tasty fries. The roasted grouper entree on polenta was tasty. Sushi sampler and east coast roll were great. Both deserts we tried : chocolate lava cake with ice cream and the bourbon pudding were delicious. Wine list is very adventurous- we ordered a bottle of Vinho Verde from Portugal and it complemented the food perfectly. The slight effervescence of the wine was refreshing. All in all, an excellent experience. I would highly recommend this restaurant.
We had a great time and the food and service was excellent, Emily was wonderful.
First-time visiting; had placed our orders and then found out that we received the wrong menus, disappointed but give us more reason to go back for dinner to try the other items. Looking forward to the poke bowls becoming available soon. Drinks are expensive and delicious. Great place for lunch and people watching. Love the atmosphere and great service!
On average, 3.5 stars. Food was good, not great. Service was fair in that an order was taken and food delivered in a timely manner. No offers of recommendations, zero with the server interactions beyond being pressed to place a drink order (three times before we finally relented), him taking our order and bringing a check.
We probably wouldn’t return for a full-fledged dinner with many better options at the same price point. Might return for drinks/sushi/small plates in the beautiful atmosphere.
The dinner started off bad with the service. We waited about 10-15 minutes at our table before the server ever surfaced. This was then followed by extremely bland food. The kale Caesar salad tasted like mayo on kale. We all had to be pretty liberal with the diner style salt and pepper shakers on the table to gag it down. The sushi sampler we ordered was on the warm side and the rice was falling apart which made for a mess. Steak Frites was more fat than steak and the only decent things on the plate were the fries. Lobster roll was overpriced for what you get and the lobster meat tastes like it’s from a can and again didn’t have much flavor and definitely not a $24 entree. The wine glass that we were served was dirty as well.
The place is new and hasn’t been open long and it shows. The manager went out of their way and made it right at the end with some gift vouchers to come back and try them out again. This was appreciated but the chef might need help with cooking/seasoning food as they seem to be afraid of flavor.
On the upside, the restaurant decor is awesome. Very open and light and airy. I would probably close the doors to the outside be leaving them open as there were flies and gnats flying around the place.
Food and service was very good. Gets noisy inside when room is near full.
Nice dinner with friends. Calamari was excellent. Ordered a second one. Beet salad was large, crab cakes were very good.
Interesting menu, good food and service. The noise level is a bit high, they don't serve bread with dinner, you have to ask for it and pay extra and the wine pours are on the small size.
We visited this location to celebrate my husband’s birthday. It was almost full to capacity on the Sunday evening we were there, which was surprising for a new restaurant. The sushi was great and the service staff was attentive and friendly. We will definitely be back.
Always enjoyed East Coast Provisions in Carytown for their great service, quality seafood selections and ambiance. West Coast Provisions likewise does not disappoint. The custom cocktail and menu selections are delicious, the quality of fresh local seafood and the friendly professional service make it a reliable "go to." Check out West Coast...you won't be disappointed.
The food was good, but it was very loud. Hard to even talk across the table. I was also disappointed in the size of the glass pours for the red wine by the glass that we ordered.
