Waverly Stone Gastropub
We opened Waverly Stone Gastropub in 2018 to bring fresh, creative food and drink and warm, friendly service to Holland’s restaurant scene. Whether you’re craving a classic like Shrimp & Grits or an adventurous, globally-inspired plate, we’re here to take care of you.
In cooking up new dishes, we draw inspiration from pub fare and street food from around the world. Father and son chef duo, Ed and Andrew Westerlund, work as a team to design creative dishes using classic, globally-inspired techniques and flavors. Our one-of-a-kind menu includes dishes like the Carnivore Okonomiyaki (a Japanese Cabbage Pancake) and Miso Seared Scallops with Ramen Noodles. Housemade ingredients and always-fresh beers and cocktails make for a unique experience every visit.

We went in for drinks and a pretzel! Great service even though it was close to closing our sever was awesome and accommodating to our growing group! I forgot his name, maybe started with a D. He had braids. Drinks were tasty we did order the Paloma and it was super spicy, felt like it needed to be more grapefruit less jalapeño.
We will come back again! Victor always makes awesome drinks!
Very good service, and the food was great. Excellent value and experience.
The menu selections were very unique and delicious. Wonderful meal.
Four of us - and everyone enjoyed their meal/noted how good it was. We were lucky to sit outside on a warm early October evening - can't beat that!
Thanks for the great review, Sandra!
Waverly Stone was new to us and we were really pleased to find such a nice dining experience in Holland. The menu is not large but well curated from drinks to Plates. I tried a Rosemary (sometime Basil) fizz and it was perfect for a warm evening. The wine menu offered some nice variety for reds and whites. Also a nice offering of craft beers. We had the smoked salmon for our started and it was perfect either on the nicely toasted French bread or with the pickled slaw. My husband is not a fan of salmon but even he wondered if he could order a crock to bring home.
I had the scallops in ramen noodles an unexpected but lovely combination. The scallops were seared so delicately and were perfect with a buttery crust. Husband had the Exotic chicken with pasta and it was savory and rich and half of it came home for lunch the next day and was even more yummy!
The dessert menu is 3 items. We had the Creme Brûlée . Smooth and light custard below the wonderful carmalized too. All in all a really special dining experience that did not break the bank. We noticed many folks just coming in for drinks and starters. Busy all the time but not noisy or crowded.
We enjoyed meeting Ian the General Manager who made his way to each table. It was much warmer than just “how was everything tonight “. He was genuinely pleased we were there and made our desserts “on the house” when he learned it was our anniversary.
Our waiter Andrew was attentive without hanging over us and helped us pace our meal so everything came out at just the right time. All in all a really nice evening with excellent food and service.
Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience. We really appreciate your feedback! I hope that we'll get to serve you again soon.
We ate outside on the patio on the street. It was a little noisy with cars going past but better than inside! Food was good and cocktails were unique. Very good service too.
Thanks for the great review, Ellen!
In town for my bday weekend. I was pleasantly surprised to find an upscale Gastropub in Holland. The food was outstanding, definitely recommend.
Great food and service. Would return if we’re back in town.
What a great find. Excellent food, an eclectic menu, and amazing service. We really enjoyed the entire experience.
Great service and food, especially the sandwiches
Great service, we had a table with a lot of people and the restaurant did a great job. Good food and great beer.
Remains our favorite in the Holland area. Fun menu with a great selection of dishes that are well prepared and presented. Service is good. Great wine and beer selections. Sat in a high top in the window. Great time with friends. Highly recommend!
We enjoyed sitting in the sidewalk outdoor seating area, with great cocktails, and delicious appetizer and entree. Excellent service too.
The hostess was fabulous! Best part of the meal. We really wanted a seat outside and waited longer than our reservation time and she was so kind to keep checking on us. Our waitress was great as well.
Unfortunately the food left us a little disappointed. It sounded great but the delivery fell flat. The food looked great but was rather tasteless.
The outside area was lovely but the chairs were quite uncomfortable. We enjoyed the experience but have had better food while visiting.
Just all around great place. The Japanese pancake was the best.
Happy Anniversary! Thank you for celebrating with us!
Amazing flavors. Cool atmosphere. Generous, welcoming, tasty!
Thanks for the great review, Beth!
Our server was great. The restaurant was very busy when we dined so I would recommend getting a reservation ahead. The food was extremely good. I would definitely go back
Thanks for the great review, Nolan!
As has been true on every visit, the food was excellent, and our server was very attentive.
We love this family-owned restaurant and highly recommend it.
Thanks for the great review!
First time here ... happy to see businesses back in somewhat of a swing. Friendly staff, great food, and eating on the patio is the way to go! Server missed our extra order of wine, apologized, but never came back with it. Missed that glass of wine immensely. Other than that, truly is a location worth coming back to for sure.
Thanks for the great review! I'm so sorry about that second glass of wine--we won't forget the next time around. Looking forward to serving you again. Cheers!
Highly attentive staff. Quality food with beautiful presentation. Nicely priced wine list. Will definitely return!
Thanks for the great review!
Waverly Stone Gastropub was such a great spot for delicious food, awesome customer service, and lovely atmosphere!! Being a Thursday night mid-COVID, it wasn't too busy (though the outdoor seating seemed very popular). With big servings and reasonable prices accompanied by attentive and friendly staff that wanted to make sure you had a great experience, this is a place I will definitely go back to!
Thanks for the great review, Annie! We look forward to serving you again!
Great food that is unique in flavor and unexpected for this area!
My husband and I enjoyed our 25th-anniversary celebration at Waverly Stone Gastropub. Every person needs to enjoy a meal here when they are in Holland, MI.
We have always had a great experience at Waverly! Food is great, service is good, atmosphere is nice. First time dining inside since Covid and tables are well spaced apart. We were on the patio a couple weeks ago and it is great there too! We had diners with us with special requests, one cannot eat garlic and the other has celiac's disease. Everyone's special requests were wonderfully prepared and enjoyed! Compliments to the chef!!! We will be back!
Seemed like the A/C was not operational when we were there but it was not too uncomfortable
If you're looking for something out of the ordinary, Waverly Stone is the place to go. Not your average boring, bland food. They offer culinary meals you wont find anywhere else in town. Great beer and wine selections, as well as top-notch special cocktails.
Amazing flavor and surprisingly Wonderful, you have to try the Carnivore Okonomiyaki
(Japanese Cabbage Pancake) Pulled Pork, Bacon, Sesame Ginger Sauce, Mayo Drizzle
Shrimp and grits are a must! If looking for a handheld, then the griddled mousetrap is a favorite along with braised BBQ pork. A delightful place and one that we return to again and again!
Thank you for visiting us and for taking the time to leave us this great review, Debra! We are so happy to be open again too!
Watered down drinks. Decent food.
Thanks for taking the time to leave us a review! I'm so sorry to hear you didn't enjoy your drinks--watered down is definitely not the goal. If you ever don't enjoy something, just let us know, and we'd be happy to make it right for you. Looking forward to serving you again. Cheers!
Absolutely lovely! One of my favorite places to eat. Think I will head back next weekend, too!
Thanks for the great review, Keli!
So glad you are open and serving again! Our first meal out since stay at home March 14. We sat outside. Service was great, Holland's street scene is beautiful and our meals were delicious. This restaurant is a real gem in Holland!
Service was as exceptional as the food. Highly recommend it.
Thanks for the great review, Christopher!
Food simply wasn’t good. I tried three of their dishes and none of them tasted good. I’ve never not enjoyed pork tacos. Always thought of them as something that was hard to mess up - until I tried them at Waverly Stone.
Thanks for taking the time to leave us a review and share your experience. I'm so sorry to hear we fell short on the food for you--the tacos are normally a customer favorite! I hope you'll come back and give us another chance in the future!
The place has been renovated, the new Chef is great and the new Bar Manager is great. Legit. Give the Bertie’s Old Fashioned cocktail a try!
Thanks for the great review!
Great food and great people. Never disappointed. They are doing a great job during a difficult time.
Victoria, thank you for the great review!
The shrimp and grits was absolutely amazing. So happy to be able to dine with family and friends in a quiet atmosphere. The staff was terrific and very helpful in our wine and food selections.
Thanks for the great review, Courtney! Looking forward to serving you all again.
Wonderful experience!! The food was creative and delicious and drinks were Fantastic!
Thanks for the great review, Daniel!
Once again, we enjoyed another fabulous meal at Waverly Stone. The shrimp and grits were delicious. The service was excellent. Wonderful!
Linda, thank you for taking the time to leave us a review! It was so nice to see you again!
Mediocre at best. All dishes seemed to have similar texture and ingredients and tasted the same. Won’t be going back.
Mike, I'm so sorry to hear you didn't enjoy your food. Our menu is definitely limited at the moment, but we're still aiming to offer a variety of globally-inspired flavors and textures--pasta, risotto, seafood, burgers, sandwiches, salads. I'm sorry we missed the mark for you, and I hope you'll reconsider and give us another try sometime.
