Our service was TERRIBLE. After waiting over an hour for the salads (2 if the 6 people had ordered,) we were informed that they would be coming out with everything else. However, 4 if us got our entrees, while the 2 got their salads only. We asked where their entree was and were told she'd just told chef to start them. So when the 4 of us had our dinner plates cleared, the other 2 people were just starting theirs. The restaurant wasn't even half full, food (entrees $30-45/plate) was just so-so.will NEVER go back again. Save your money and go across the street to Fifth season.
It was our 20th anniversary. We are not demanding customers. Appetizer was wrong and delivered to us twice. Salad never came. Ever. Had to ask for the spinach side that was ordered and wait for it . Ordered after dinner drinks. Dessert came. We finished it. Then the drinks came. We refused them. Two management workers came over to the table separately on their own (we never sought them out). Said they would look at the bill and credit us. Bill came. All they took off was what we didn’t receive and one dessert. We felt they should have given more of a credit since it felt like we had to monitor and work for our dinner the whole night. Definitely will not return. So disappointed 😞
I requested the table by the window that our group had and enjoyed last year when we celebrated. It was not ready but the two tables needed to be combined were empty. The staff were working to set it up,for us when the manager told them and us that could not be done and ushered our group to the back table, furthest from the window. The window area remained vacant for a long time before two people sat there for a short time and when leaving embraced the manager who seemed to be a friend. Our group of six however was there for over two hours at the back table. We will try someplace different next time. I commend our server for excellent service.
The lobster roll was delicious. Wish they had a nice lobster bisque soup. Also maybe better fish selection - no shrimp on lunch menu- disappointing. But the ambience & service was excellent!
Always fabulous. Excellent food and service. Great music outside.
Best of both worlds. Ate inside with a giant open wall to overlook the water and feel the fresh air. The food was very good. A bit more expensive than I expected.
Great ambiance, delicious food! Friends getting together for lunch is the perfect excuse to go to Danfords. The weather was exquisite and couldn’t have been better!!
Great ambiance, small portions but very good food.
Service was slow for food to come out. Lobster Mac and cheese had no lobster so they didn’t charge,my linguini with clam sauce was mostly pasta
A busy Saturday night. Fun atmosphere, food was ok, nothing great.
Appetizers are great but entrees are plain, nothing special
The view was beautiful the food was yummy the waitress was okay she came over too much as we were trying to catch up
The atmosphere and the ambiance are great. The place is adorable and the view outstanding. The server was knowledgeable and attentive. Angela knew the menu and the specials and accommodated special requests. Unfortunately, for the us, the food did not live up to our expectations. The "very dry" martini was over loaded with vermouth. The oysters were very tiny. The cioppino was lukewarm. The swordfish, ordered medium rare, was over-cooked and dry. We might go back to sit outside for a burger or a lobster roll but not for a dinner.
We love to go there. Food and ambiance is really very good. Our waitress was nice but forgot to put our order in
It happens. The management tried to make excuses. And hour and 15 minutes to get our food and they forgot my sons steak. They came out saying. They didn’t like the quality of his steak and had to fire up a new one. They dropped the ball. After being there for almost 3 hours we didn’t want free desert. They did comp is athe entree and some drinks. I probably would go back because I like the setting. We still tipped well we know that there’s a lot of people that work hard to get meals out
Great all around restaurant. Dockside in Port Jefferson. Good food and service.
Waitress Brittany was wonderful. Really knew the menu and was attentive. Service was fast but not rushed. Food good and atmosphere great!
Everything great, but kitchen seemed a bit slow. There was a wait for the food. Waitress was excellent!
Restaurant was fine.
Traffic & Parking was a bit of an issue. We were happy with the ambiance, food & service.
We will come back soon thank you
The bar scene for a Sunday afternoon was busy. On waters edge, the view, live music, ambiance and food were excellent! We did have to wait a while for our table as they were cleaning up from brunch. It was a bit too long a wait. The mussels, swordfish and fresh vegetables were delicious. Service at the table was excellent. After our early dinner we had a drink outside on the deck, enjoyed the view and live music. A truly enjoyable meal and setting!
It was a nice relaxing day away from home, took ferry from Bridgeport, and the overall experience was excellent.
Terrible service. Left my review on their review page the next day. We will never go back.
Hidden GEM in Port Jefferson. Many choices in the area however, the WAVE is a place we go to often.
My husband and I have been here before but service has seem to gone down hill. When we arrived, we were informed that the "kitchen was backed-up" and it would be at least 45 minutes for our food to arrive. Some of the food was good, some just OK. Service wasn't great for such a nice place (little things that make a big difference - no plates for bread, my husband asked for cheese for his pasta and it came out in a tiny little bowl, asked for a glass of wine and it never came, paid in cash and it took 20 minutes to get change because they couldn't break $100). It's sad because this use to be such a nice place!!
We went here for dinner on Father’s Day and it was wonderful. I love that it wasn’t buffet as on Mother’s Day. The food was very good and the service was spectacular. I wish they would serve a better Chardonnay but other than that, it was a great dining experience. Our wonderful server Tom took excellent care of us! What a lovely evening for our family. We love coming to Danfords!
Went for fathers day and enjoyed the buffet. The waitress was sweet and very attentive! My father is hard to please at restaurants and he was impressed, will definitely go again!
We had a table on the deck the food and the drinks were great and the live music was a nice touch
We have dined at Wave on many occasions and chose to come celebrate Fathers Day here. We had a reservation indoors but opted to sit on the waterfront deck when we arrived since there was no wait. The food/drinks/ambiance were perfect- the whole family loved it! However our waitress must have been new... our service was horrible. Not sure what her name was but she is foreign with Red hair and was the only server on the deck side which we sat on. Placing an order with her took forever, she didn't understand and couldn't recommend anything due to her poor English skills. She never checked in on us, we tried to order another bottle of water but she never brought it. Once we were finished and asked for the bill (I asked ahead of time knowing she would take forever) she did not bring it even passing our table multiple times. My father got so frustrated he got up and paid the bill at the hostess table. We will continue to come here but HOPE she isn't our waitress.
Great atmosphere looking over marina, good food with service to match. Can't ask for more. Definitely on list next time around
Atmosphere and service was exceptional however the special of the day, the haddock, was very dry and tasteless. Spending $40 on a dish should ensure a delicious treat. Too much money spent on a mediocre meal.
They could offer valet parking. I had to drive around 40 minutes to find a spot.👎
We had a great meal ... the view is spectacular and the energy and ambiance make you feel like you are on vacation!
Love this place for lunch. The salmon burgers were amazing. The view is relaxing. Will be coming back for outdoor dining.
I had been at wave before and really liked it. I like the freshness of the food and the variety. The service was great. I will come again and my friends said they will bring their family when in town.
Great food & service.
Brunch was awesome.
I was unimpressed by our experience yet again. The food was mediocre at best (especially for the price). The rice pilaf had absolutely no flavor and the vegetables were overcooked (steamed) and also lacked any flavor - not even salted. I had the fish special and it was cooked well, but again, light on the flavor. Our waitress seemed inexperienced and did not have an answer for basic questions about the menu. The manager was rude and openly nasty to his employees. He did not need to attend to us but continually blocked the only stairway in/out of the dining area, my guess is for a better vantage point, however it is the only way to exit the dining area to get to the restroom. The final issue is that it is impossible to sit at one of the tables for 4 (set at an angle along the side wall) without your chair touching the next table's. It shows that their numbers mean more than a quality experience - it is very irritating being bumped each time someone at the next table shifts their chair. I keep hoping that The Wave at Danfords will live up to it's fantastic atmosphere and location, but it always seems to fall flat. I recommend it for a drink outside, but that's it.
We are locals and dine out often. Arrived and both hostesses looked like they hate their jobs, no smile or interest. Ordered Martinis and they were served in wine glasses. Very hard to drink with olives on tooth picks in wine glasses. Very watered down also. Waitress in hurry to take order. Manager gravitated to tourists and never came over to see how our meal was. In fact as we left we passed him by and he looked past us. Not sure why as we complained about nothing. No one came to see how our meal was or if we needed anything. Bus girl said not a word when she came over to pour water and that was the last water we received.. Prices high and food good. My duck was very good but short ribs tough and dry. Culture seems to be a not care attitude. Shame as we dine out often. Not high standards. Good food but not worth it for fine dining.
Location was nice. Food was under seasoned and salmon was over cooked. Steak was tasty but not cooked to order under cooked. Service was ok.
Had to send our food back as the steak was black and blue not medium. Had to ask several times for my daughters drink. Service was very slow.
There was no parking, that took 15 to 20 minutes to fine a parking spot. The appetizers were great but the main course was awful, the worst steak I have ever had in a restaurant and the short ribs were just as bad. We didn’t even stay for desert and the service was also just as bad
