Great service! Great atmosphere! Would come again!
My party & I ordered the shellfish platter. It was very tasty. Lovely ambiance but it was a bit loud, which is to be expected on a chilly summer night.
Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed the Waterbar!
Everything was perfect. I asked for a surprise for my friend's birthday with the dessert and they helped me with the organization. Very kind and helpful service.
The restaurant looks amazing and the view of the bay bridge at night is wonderful. The food was good, a special mention to the scallops, I appreciated this starter very much.
The only "problem" was the waiting time at the beginning, we booked at 8.45pm and we finally got the table after more than half an hour...not a big deal, we enjoyed the time at the bar, looking outside.
I typically love this place but up until this review I’ve only dined at the bar.
On our most recent visit, we dined in the dining room to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The service was slow and mediocre. The food runner and manager were great, but the server was disinterested and didn’t seem to be trained well. The food was good and the wine was nice.
There was no wow factor in the restaurant. The biggest plus side was the view, but I can get that without stepping in the door. Nothing sets the tone like a server who doesn’t care.
The service was great. Jeffrey took care of all our needs. Drinks were good and the seafood was fresh and tasty.
I've been to Waterbar many times since it first opened 10 years ago. I've never been disappointed. This time was in celebration of friend's birthday. I called ahead (even though I had made a reservation in advance) to ask for a table by the window. Not a problem at all. Now to the food itself. This was for lunch, but it was so good. Mussels were outstanding, the soup of the day was one of the best that I've ever had (we split an order between 2 people, which was just enough for an appetizer). The wine suggestion by our absolutely wonderful waiter was a very good choice. Over all, a really wonderful dining experience. Definitely would recommend
everything so good, except little bite noise ,hard time to talk to friends.
It’s very good ambient and food, but special service
The view of the Bay Bridge is the ultimate highlight. The food is very good too. We sat outside in the evening. Magical night.
The food was fresh and good, but not great. The service was excellent but the restaurant was very noisy. Exposed brick looks great but it just reflects and magnifies the noise in a busy restaurant.
Beautiful views and cool aquarium pillars. The service was very slow. I enjoyed my wine and their fresh baked bread but that was it. My husband and I shared a plate meant for two people. It consisted of shortribs, shrimp, and beans. For a $110 dish, I wish the meat wasn't 75% fat. Yuck. The chocolate bites dessert was underwhelming too.
Table service was great but the reception desk experience was disappointing. Having said that, I highly recommended this restaurant for the food (great seafood) and the waiter was outstanding.
Great food, wonderful service, fantastic drink cocktails and unbeatable view of the Bay Bridge
Honeymoon: We chose Water bar based upon reviews . 1.) I made a special request for a view table as it was our honeymoon. We were sat a a table in main walk way . 2.) Nothing special at the table recognizing our Wedding . They did provide a small glass of sparking wine however no real effort . Folks we’ve received more attention to detail for date nights . This was our honeymoon and you completely missed the mark . 3.) Food was good but nothing special . I will say the waiter was pleasant however he became increasing disengaged as our dinner progressed . More interested in up selling wines at the tables beside us . In summary I had hoped to mark our special night with a wonderful dinner . While not horrible I will not return or recommend.
The food was absolutely amazing and the oysters are to die for. We had the large shellfish platter and everything was done perfectly. The wine list was amazing and our wine was spectacular. The service was 5 star impeccable! We even moved to one side of the table and the waiter was very accommodating. The only unfortunate thing was being seated in the noisiest room of the restaurant. The ceiling is very low so the voices are really loud in the back room. I think group parties should be kept together and romantic parties kept together. its unfortunate that no restaurant actually does this.
The food was spectacular. The service, not so much. They forgot our oyster order and never came to ask if we wanted a second beverage after we finished our cocktails. We finally had to go order ourselves. No apology for either.
Great Location on the bay. We enjoyed the outdoor patio both time we visited last weekend. Excellent selection of oysters. Friendly service. The menu is not large, however, everything we tried was outstanding. The Asian inspired deviled eggs were a nice surprise.
Service a bit slow but bus staff and wait person were very attentative - nicely trained I'm certain. Gracious and hospitable gesture with celebratory sparkling wine and dessert for the birthday guest. Lovely ambience and again, lovely staff from hostess greeting to final check. Food was delicious and reasonably priced. Very yummy bloody Mary's! Thank you, Water Bar.
We really enjoyed our dinner, our waiter was very good and our meals were delicious.
A combination of great food and great service! That’s what we enjoy in a great Resturaunt!
I have eaten brunch and lunch here, but this is the first dinner. My friends' first time here, my husband and I had been before and have to say the place didn't shine this time. We had a booking mishap (my error) which Waterbar was gracious to correct, but that meant we had to give up our table after 1 hour 45, which of course we had agreed to and did do, but we were reminded of this about 6 or 7 times by various staff. Also, I don't think our friends were thrilled with their dishes--good but not exceptional. My husband and I split the filet which again was good but not exceptional. Also, our waiter was good but got busy later on and let us drift a bit. I think I will stick to coming here for fish dishes for brunch or lunch.
We went to Waterbar while vacationing in San Francisco and I'd say this was our favorite meal! The view was stunning, the food was spot on, and the service was impeccable. Because it was a special occasion, we tried everything - our bill was a bit shocking at the end, but we expected it. Our server, Jim, made some great recommendations for oysters that were fantastic, and we all loved our entrees. I had the bass - sooo good and cooked perfectly! My daughter loved her yellowtail, and my husband said the filet was the best he's had in a long time. The wine paired desserts were delicious all around, but I wish I'd chosen the toffee pudding my daughter had. It was at another level! HIGHLY recommend this restaurant!
Food was excellent. Original cooking using fresh seafood prepared in a light healthy fashion.
Great food/ good wine list/ wonderful view/excellent service and really good bread!
Stick to the cold seafood bar. We sampled other items on the menu such as the arugula salad, fried green tomatoes, and whole fried snapper. Huge disappointment and very overpriced for the quality of this food. Service was very slow. We even got scolded by the manager for turning on the heat lamp. Very unimpressed by this restaurant!
We took our son to Waterbar for his 30th birthday. I had requested a window table which we did have which was wonderful. I was disappointed that nothing special was done for his birthday-a dessert would have been nice or glass of wine, something.
We had a wonderful meal which did take a while as it was a very busy Brunch crowd so we
didn't mind the wait.
Our order was taken promptly. Drinks arrived in reasonable amount of time. Appetizers a little slower. Main course took forever. Waiter showed up once to tell us kitchen was backed up. Main course finally arrived ......cold.
We had a table outside for a Sunday brunch. Service was good but we were repeatedly told “the kitchen is short staffed “. 1 hour and 45 minutes to get food. Not acceptable. Food was OK, but wasn’t even hot. There has to be better options in the Embarcadero.
Awesome. One of our all time favorite restaurants. We are never disappointed. Joe the head bartender is truly Exceptional 👍👌😊
Limited selection for weekend brunch, but really enjoyed the quail and waffles. It was very tasty. Service was a little slow. Would try again when not on a schedule. Beautiful view of the bridge and bay.
Great place for a nice bunch
One of my favorite restaurant in the city for weekend lunch or brunch
Fabulous food and spectacular location along the San Fran bay! The patio is amazing on a beautiful day! Great menu options especially if you love seafood! Great wine list too.
This was for a birthday celebration.... the ambiance was wonderful, the service was excellent, everyone from the front desk to the manager was warm and friendly and had enthusiasm about being there. I received very good pointers about which oysters to have and the food from beginning to end was great and well executed. Not the cheapest night out but well worth it.
We were seated on time.
We were never rushed and great service.
It was a great experience. The old fashion, the wine, and the Irish coffee was great. The red snapper for two was outstanding.
Not very intimate. Very open seating. I wouldn’t go on a date here. I would dine with friends or business. Good quality food.
Birthday meal! Fantastic service and delicious food!! We weren’t rushed like other places tend to do.
Love Waterbar and the weekday oyster special can’t be beat. Our server was sweet, attentive and knowledgeable about food and wine. The view by the window or outside is extraordinary. We are at Waterbar or Epic (sister restaurant next door) EVERY visit to SF
