Great choice for special occasions when you want to go above and beyond. Shellfish platter was tender and tasty. A bit pricey but on the same level as Epic See next door.
Great. Tell your friends.
Amazing server great food
Great miso cod and swordfish. Romantic spot. Cheesecake fantastic.
Wonderful as always. Decorated for the holidays and with bridge lit up it is magical. Food and delivery was great
The oyster, cocktail, and wine selections are top of the line. The lobster was also very good.
We ordered parmesan fries and they were so salty they were almost inedible - even after shaking off the cheese. The Spanish Mackerel had a caramel sauce on it that was dessert-sweet which didn't work for us over the raw fish. The service was outstanding - courteous, helpful, knowledgable, prompt.
Wasn’t the best. Been here multiple times and this time we had extremely long waits to get drinks and food. The food was amazing as always, just the service was not all that great
The dishes I ordered were suberb. The service was also excellent.
I was very disappointed that you do not offer coffee in a full size coffee cup.
I enjoy a full cup of coffee through out my meal. I suggest your policy regarding your coffee China.
I live in Marin and will not return to dine again.
Ambiance was nice, food was amazing and staff was wonderful. Definitely a nice dining experience.
We were seated in the lower level room among several tables with large parties who were extremely noisy.
Compared to the large room overlooking the Bay Bridge,
this room feels like being seated in the basement level.
Noise level was very high. Service was good but overtaxed by big parties. Food was excellent.
Very lovely dining experience. Food is very delicious, beautiful view of the bridge and decorated for the holidays. Perfect place to dine with friends and celebrate the holidays.
Fantastic view and good food
Awesome location and view. Very pricey. You have to pay for what you get to see.
Briny oysters. I think I was overcharged. Great bridge view. The mains were not the flavors we expected. Maybe next time.
The waiter is way to intrusive. I used to work as a waiter part time when I was in college. The one thing that was always stressed to me was that a waiter should be invisible. Throughout our meal the waiter would come up and interrupt our conversation to say what she had to say no matter what. As an example, I was discussing my niece’s medical treatment with my colleague when the waiter barged into the middle of our conversation asking, “How is everything? Would you like to order some wine?” I asked her to please come back later as were in the middle of a conversation. The thing is, she became irritated, rolled her eyes and said, “no problem” and then left. I would expect the waiters at a restaurant of the caliber of Water Bar to have better training and social skills. Very disappointing.
Interesting (and delicious!) food choices that change frequently. Flavorful oysters. Outstanding service and ambiance.
Overall great dinner. Could be a bit more filling though.
Great service, personalized our vegetarian food plate, super nice waiter who suggested best
Options. Celebrated 10th wedding anniversary with great view and friendly people
The filet with puff pastry was the best meal I have ever had in my entire life!
Very good food, but pity not a lot of choice ...only one entree with meat !
Milo our waiter was amazing. Took care of us and provided great service.
Odd and a limited menu. We all had fish entrees which were good but not fantastic for the price. We shared starters of shrimp cocktail, sashimi and potstickers. Again good but not great for the price. The side of brussels sprouts with our entrées was very good. Our server was excellent. Very attentive with helpful suggestions. The toffee pudding she recommended for dessert was delicious. The view of the bay bridge lit up at night was spectacular. I guess that’s what you are paying for. Bottom line, I will not be returning to this restaurant. There are so many other restaurants where you could have just as good a meal for a much better value.
My boyfriend and I were here celebrating our anniversary. The service and food were both amazing. The baked oysters are absolutely delicious! Our waiter went above and beyond by bringing us a plate with the words “Happy Anniversary “ written in chocolate and 2 small cheesecake bites. This was totally unexpected. It made our nights to have such a thoughtful gesture. We highly recommend this restaurant. AND can’t go wrong with the beautiful view of the bridge!
Our waiter was great. The food was interesting and good, the setting beautiful. The restaurant is loud; it was hard to listen to conversations. The clearing staff was brisk and kept asking to clear our plates while some of us were still eating off of them.
Great night with the family for my birthday! Best view also
We had a weekend of great food and our meal at Waterbar was easily one of the best! Bloody Mary was perfection complete with shrimp and tasty bacon. For entrees we split a Dungeness crab which was fresh and delicious along with pastrami hash w/ the beets, cabbage and poached eggs. That hash was out of this world good and something I will make a special trip to come back for again.
Although we didn't have them this trip the fried deviled eggs looked very tasty.
Great place see the view!
The last time I ate at the Waterbar was likely 10 years ago. It’s even better now. The seafood dishes were creative and delicious. The shared bites and appetizers were awesome. Beautiful interior design and views too.
With such high marks on both OpenTable and TripAdvisor, I was not impressed at all. The view was lovely. The fish tanks with northern CA aquatic life were the highlight. My server was friendly and competent on the basics but made no recommendations or guided our experience in any way even when asked to do so. Our dinner turned out to be too heavy on rich dishes with no reprieve. The sticky toffee pudding dessert he raved about was average. I've had far better in numerous English pubs. The food overall was good but didn't approach excellent— if you poach even relatively fresh lobster in butter, how bad can it be? The sommelier was more helpful having already viewed our menu selections —I should have been tipped off by his greeting: I've seen what you've ordered so why don't you tell me a little bit more about what you like...— he made a recommendation of an excellent red Friuli. This was a birthday dinner for two and for $350 I expect a whole lot more.
Really fabulous dinner with outstanding views and service!
Great food, nice views. Would visit again.
This was a disappointing dining experience overall. We were assigned a good table, with some nice views of the Bay Bridge, and the general ambiance was pleasant. But it was the food where Waterbar fell down. My wife was asked how she would like her fish, and merely suggested she would prefer it cooked - as opposed to slightly under cooked as the server had suggested it would be by default. Instead of the fish being perfectly cooked though, they went too far the other way and was over cooked. This is a cardinal sin to commit with the delicate flesh of fresh fish. My Osso Bucco looked excellent on arrival. But I quickly felt that the dish had been prepared earlier then heated up. It had a dry layer around the outside - possibly reheated under a broiler? Either way, whatever had transpired left an otherwise flavorsome dish dried out and effectively ruined. On considering the total expense of the evening, it felt as though there was a genuine lack of expertise and care being exhibited by the kitchen staff.
We were there for her birthday. Reservation was made weeks in advance but still had to wait before they could get us a table. To make matters worse, we didn’t get a table by the window like I had requested. I mentioned it was a birthday in my original reservation then called the day before to let them know and then told the woman who seated us. Yet had to openly remind the waiter that we were celebrating a birthday. Otherwise he wouldn’t have acknowledged it.
I would never choose this place again for a special occasion as they treated us like it was any other day. However maybe for happy hour or something. The food was decent.
We always make the effort to dine at Waterbar when in San Francisco. The service is attentive and friendly, the food is creative and outstanding. Always plenty of local seafood to try, but also delicious vegetables, sides, and small bites. Truly a gem!
Gorgeous restaurant design, jaw-dropping views, top-notch service. Food very good, but have had better. Food good, but very expensive, and not quite worth the cost.
Everything was good except for the fact that upon arrival we were abruptly told the kitchen was closing in 15 minutes (our reservation was for 215, and no one told me that was the last seating before the kitchen closed). we were celebrating my fathers birthday and it was just a little disappointing to be so rushed.
The yellowtail filet was drastically undercooked, completely raw in the middle. We had a gluten free request and they removed the sides with gluten but didn't substitute anything else. The hash was delicious, far better than the other fish entree. Salads were good but not outstanding.
The staff was very gracious and the food was outstanding, especially the desserts.
The prices for brunch were very reasonable considering the high quality of the food and the beautiful view.
We had a memorable dinning experience and would recommend Waterbar to friends.
Amazing brunch experience! Celebrated my anniversary here over the weekend and everything was perfect. First time ever coming to Waterbar and definitely will not be my last!
