Everything was good except for the fact that upon arrival we were abruptly told the kitchen was closing in 15 minutes (our reservation was for 215, and no one told me that was the last seating before the kitchen closed). we were celebrating my fathers birthday and it was just a little disappointing to be so rushed.
Third time is not a charm unfortunately
Great food with a awesome view to celebrate a birthday!!!!!!!
Coming from an open eater who travels all over the world every year for months, the food at waterbar tasted horrible.
Overdid it with the dressing and sauce. Does it look fancy? Yes. Good view? Yes. Does it meet expectation? No. If I spend $350 on a few appetizer and starter, I expected better quality of taste.
Also, for a restaurant this standard you might want to consider lowering down the music. I could barely hear anyone at my table talking with the loud poor choice of songs.
We had great food and service!
Great place to dine!
It was very pleasant the food was good the portions a little bit smaller
Again, another 5 star rating! They hit it out of the park for us. When I made reservations I asked for a window seat overlooking the Bay Bridge. I then had to change our reservations for 1-1/2 hours earlier the day of and they kindly accommodated us. I couldn't help thinking, well there goes our window seat, but no we still received our table with a view, now that is impressive customer service! We started off in the bar with a couple of handcrafted cocktails, the Cucumber Collins and Whisky Old Fashion were superb. We also indulged in their $1.00 oysters with champagne mignonette sauce and prawns. Our food was outstanding, we started off with the Nantucket Bay Scallops in a red curry sauce, which was wonderful! Main course, I ordered the Opaka Red Snapper and my husband ordered the Grilled Swordfish, both were very good. But, I must say, mine was out of this world, Red Snapper with Creamy butter sauce, manila clams, delectable celery gratin with creamed kale. We shared a side of Tempura Broccolini with a wonderful dipping sauce. We finished off the evening with a Sticky Toffee Pudding, this is a must have! I am not a dessert person and can pass up sweets very easily, however, this is the first dessert that I have had that I could not stop eating, it was pure heaven. When in the Embarcadero area, stop here, you will not regret it, it will become your new favorite dining spot!
took a long time for food to come after ordered, didn't seem to be the fault of the server
Amazing location with really breathtaking views of the Bay Bridge all lit up at night! The interior is also pretty spectacular with aquarium and live crustacean tanks. Food and wine were really excellent with the main emphasis on local and some necessarily out-sourced seafood - all delicious. Some nice meaty options also available. The service impressed me most, though. Attentive, efficient and focused on the needs and preferences of the diners in the most amicable and accommodating fashion. Probably the best I've experienced in SF for a long time. All my companions were from out of town, and this was a memorable SF dining experience for them.
We had reservations but had to wait a bit. It was worth the wait. We had a table by the window with a view of the Bay Bridge. The bridge gave us an amazing light show throughout dinner. The food was excellent. Our server was friendly and professional. Everyone was so nice. It is expensive so, next time I’ll save it for a very special occasion.
Perfect birthday place. Our waiter was fantastic! So on top of it. Thanks waterbar!
Très bon restaurant et très belle vue. De bons plats a des prix raisonnables pour la qualité. Génial
Outstanding cocktails crafted to perfection. An amazing view of the Bay Bridge . I requested a table with a view as we were hosting good friends who had travelled all the way from Stratford England to attend our sons wedding and they gave us the best table in the house. Bartenders, waitstaff, hosts, sommelier and service were very friendly. Then there is the food - amazing oysters! The fish dishes - black bass red snapper a shellfish broth all outstanding. We will be back - again and again!!
Fascinating restaurant. Great looking and fantastic service. Really excellent food. Had a really nice anniversary dinner there. Pricey, but I hear the happy hour is more reasonable with less expensive choices for appetizers.
Phenomenal restaurant for all fish-lovers, especially the oysters are astonishing. Great view at the Bay Bridge.
We were there for lunch but I think the atmosphere is even better after dark.
Our first night in San Francisco was amazing!
Loved every second
Service very poor. Do not order seafood platter as it was less than desirable.
Good food but they were out of the one item our group wanted the most. Sat outside on a mild night, was lovely.
The seafood was fresh and well prepared. The wine list was good and reasonably priced for a San Francisco restaurant in that area.
Waterbar as a place, food and service exceeded my expections. We ate there twice. First time was on the weekend, for a sunday brunch on their patio overlooking the water and Bay Bridge. We ordered fish sandwiches but instead deep fried, we asked for grilled. Honestly, the server was really gracious and made sure that our modified order came out perfectly. The setting was great, food was delicious and we planned to go back. So, we did... for dinner. Same approach, same outcome. They are very accommodating and respect certain food sensitivities (i.e. lactose intolerant or dairy fre). The food was incredible !!! and the service outstanding!!! Their recipes are creative and delicious. We have made another reservation and are bringing friends this time.
One of the top 3 meals we have ever had. The butter poached lobster was wonderful. Chef Erica Land’s desserts are creative masterpieces with tastes that will blow your mind.
Our waiter Nick was awesome. He made excellent food choices when we couldn't decide. I would highly recommend.
Food is excellent but service needs work.
Waited 40 minutes for a dozen oysters to continually being told it was because they are schucked to order.
Once food arrived it was very good.
It was great food and atmosphere. Service was exceptional.
Very slow service, unresponsive waiter taking care of us for a very special occasion. Menu items were sold out and when we substituted what was offered, dish did not come out as promised. Party of 6 should not hear each other across at a dinner table.
We went there to celebrate my daughter’s engagement and it couldn’t have been a more perfect evening. The food and drinks were fantastic and the staff was so fun!
Just had another superb lunch at Waterbar. I've been going to this restaurant since it opened. It consistently continues to be excellent. The Embarcadero location, the beautiful interior and the view of the Bay Bridge are all spectacular. The food (and service) has never disappointed and in fact, unless memory fails me, there has never been a dish that was less than delicious. I have often recommended it to people I know visiting San Francisco and they have all reported back a similar reaction. Quite simply I consider it, along with Boulevard, the best and my two favorite restaurants in The City.
We always come here to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Never disappointed :-)
A pricey wine list but the views of the Bay Bridge lights and San Francisco Bay are outstanding. We did the 2 lb sole for 4 people and it was plenty of food and very delicious. Highly recommended.
Thank you very much for providing my son with an excellent meal for his birthday . I would recommend this waterfront resturant very highly
Thank you again
The food was great (as usual). Sunday Brunch for a family birthday celebration. We were 6; made the reservation a week in advance for 11:30.
When we checked in at 11:25 we were "greeted" with a curt "we do not seat until 11:30 - you can sit over there". Hmmmm, not a good first impression. We were seated at 11:45 in the downstairs "dungeon" in a corner; so no chance to admire the raved about fish aquarium, etc. Felt like we were seated in a cafeteria or banquet hall.
Service was spotty at best. We had to ask several times for bread; drinks; and coffee at the end of the meal. When ordering, we informed our server that one person was milk intolerant. We were informed by the server at the time our food was to be served that what our milk intolerant guest had ordered was drenched in cream before cooking.....so another choice had to be made (30 minutes after placing the original order).
All-in-all, the attitude was one of "you are lucky to dine with us". NOT something that promotes a good client experience. Not sure I'll be back with all the choices in the greater Bay / Napa area.
Amazing service, great food, great views. Cannot wait to come back.
Must try. Best service. Great ambiance and food.
We had a great time.
A really beautiful restaurant with great food and top notch service. We will be back!
A truly delicious dining experience. Our waiter, Mike, was outstanding. His suggestions were spot on and he didn't lead us astray. I would definitely return next time we are in San Francisco.
Great setting, beautiful views.
EVERYONE who works there seems to an attitude. Customers are treated like impositions. Have been going for years and still never recognized and treated like a tourist.
Food, tasty, but not sure it’s worth the trouble.
Amazing meal and view. Definitely sit outside. Best seafood dinner for two.
Even the food was awesome. One of the crab legs that I had was smelling bad and the texture was weird. I didn’t taste it because i was worry that was bad. The chef send another stuff but nobady came to gave an explanation. So certainly if you’re eating seafood be cautious.
