We go here every year for our anniversary. With the menu always changing it’s like experiencing a new restaurant each time. It’s been delicious each visit. We will continue to come here for years to come.
Amazing all the way around. We had some obnoxious people sitting next to us that were loud and not appropriate for that caliber of dining experience however that did not ruin our experience. Will be returning again and this time requesting a window table which makes the experience even better.
Four of us had a marvelous time celebrating our anniversaries. I was extremely grateful to the manager, Rose, who worked very hard to accommodate our request for a table near the window with a beautiful view of the Bay Bridge. Our server was very pleasant and helpful - we were especially pleased with the pace of the meal. We were never rushed through courses and spent nearly 3 hours sipping, eating, and enjoying the companionship - our server seemed intuitive and would have sped up the meal had that been our wish. Seafood is of high quality - chef's selection of oysters was superb. We shared several small bites be sure to try the lobster/cauliflower appetizer. All of us enjoyed our mains - I especially enjoyed my Pink Snapper. Cocktails are perfect as is expected of a restaurant of this quality. Would recommend Waterbar highly.
The shellfish platter with green curry was simply amazing. We've tried seafood curry dishes from tons of other restaurants but Waterbar's is without a doubt our all time favorite now. Service was on point throughout our dinner. Plus with the great view, I would definitely recommend this place to anyone i know.
Fabulous in every way! Very enjoyable
a little disappointed in my achiote mahi mahi,or my companion's chilaquiles, not spectacular. not enough beans, maybe 3 teaspoons. It was good, but not as fantastic as other meals I have had at WB. But it was a beautiful day, and our server was sweet and kind ( don't know his name but he had a beautiful gold and amethyst? ring on - sai dit was his dad's wedding ring and mom's birthstone. he was delightful and treated us like royalty! The beet salad and desserts were the best part of the meal
We chose this restaurant to kick off our anniversary weekend and brought our kids. I made a request when I made the reservation for a table in the main room. When we arrived, the hostess mentioned that they knew we wanted a table in the main room but they would be putting us in the back room unless we wanted to wait. So I decided we’d wait, which was another 30 min. The hostess kept us updated and appeared to try to accommodate us the best she could. So I appreciated that.
While we were at our table, a lady who appeared to be a manager of some sort (she appeared to be overlooking the waiters) kept standing near our table and it felt as if she was watching us the whole time. There was a moment when she was clearly watching us and my husband and I both noticed so we both looked at her and she immediately moved away. She never explained, apologized or offer assistance, which just made it even more odd. My family was dressed nicer than most of the other customers (because it was our anniversary) and my kids were very well behaved. We often take our kids to restaurants like this and so they know what is expected. So I’m unsure why she felt the need to look over us repeatedly but it didn’t make us feel very welcomed.
The food however was good. My husband really enjoyed the toffee pudding for desert. My swordfish was nice and my kids loved the sashimi and oysters. I would come back for the food but would not rate this as a favorite due to the service.
Great view of lights on bridge--I love it!! Freauently schedule dinner when out of town friends come.
Just awesome location, food, and service!!
Staff working our table was great.
However, we wouldn’t recommend this restaurant as a the place to enjoy food on weekdays. Weekends experience was better (in the past). There is no consistency in quality of food. Not sure if it is kitchen staff skills or a kitchen process. Appetizers were very petite. Our Ossobuco was to kill with - hard as a well overdone steak. Considering quality of main course - much overpriced.
Noisy Poor seating
View was beautiful
Service was the best
Incredible setting, with stunning views of Bay Bridge light show and vertical aquatic tanks. Creative entrees and starters. Great wine list. Easy access via Harrison exit and very convenient valet parking.
A delightful experience on a Sunday evening. Our table was ready on time, servers were informative without being intrusive, food was perfectly prepared. We go on special occasions but it is nice to see people from the neighborhood stopping for a quick meal at the bar. The decor and view of the Bay are such a pleasure.
Milo was absolutely the best server! He truly made the occasion special. Thank you so much for becoming part of our memories! The food was pretty amazing too.
The food, view and ambiance were incredible. My new favorite place to dine out.
The very best of San Francisco in every way .. year after year!! Amazing
Waterbar is always a wonderful dining experience and such a fantastic view.
A favorite of ours for a nice lunch. Delicious fresh seafood prepared with care, excellent service, and beautiful view of the Bay Bridge - we will be back!
Absolutely love this place !! One of fave spots in the city ! Thane and Tasha
fantastic service and great food, the value is in the quality.
Business peer leaving
I have been here a lot, and the location and views are outstanding. Sometimes the food has been good but not great, but this time it was interesting and outstanding. I just wish their wine menu was not so overpriced - literally about double retail.
Excellent customer service, fresh food/tasty, accommodating hostess.
We our son and his wife to Waterbar for their 1st Wedding Celebration. It did not disappoint. The weather was rainy so we were worried that we would not have a view. But the view was absolutely amazing. Our server was wonderful and was very attentive. We ordered the beef filet platter to share and the poached lobster. The only con is that my son ordered from the children's menu and the portion was tiny. He ordered the shrimp cocktail and all he got was three pieces of cold shrimp. I have no idea how that is supposed to feed a kid, but I guess it works for some people. All in all, our experience was amazing and we would come back in a heartbeat.
it was okay. the food was great as always but the service was a bit slow, i can’t tell if it’s the norm for this restaurant or because i’m young and service tends to be a bit slower for young people.
Great location, on the water right under the Bay Bridge
I have always loved Waterbar. However this recent visit is a disappointment. The waiter started off pushing us to order champagne with our brunch. After I said no, he pushed me to add crab to my salad without telling me that it’s $22 additional cost. I ended ordering it under the pressure and only saw the price on the check.
Not an extensive menu, so if you are a picky eater this is not the place for you. Most customers around us ordered oysters, however we aren’t big oyster fans so we abstained. Great wine menu. Great atmosphere. Okay food. Wouldn’t come back again, but fun to try once!
Let me start by saying that We were a group of 5 friends who eat out in nice restaurants on the first Friday of every month. And when we go out we are not in a hurry or have any time constraints.
Food was good. Initially the service started was good, The Lady Manager on the floor was excellent in educating us about different oysters they offer and we let her choose for us two different platters of Oysters - one from East Coast and the other one from West coast , and they were both excellent. She was knowledgeable, polite and courteous, At the time of ordering Oysters we ordered French Fries, We were done with Oysters but the French fries never came. They apparently forgot. We still thought that it can happen. We told our waiter about the French Fries order and then ordered two Lobster Rolls. Even then it took a awfully long time for the french fries to come and Lobster Roll came even later almost 45 minutes later. The service in the 2nd half of our meal really went downhill. I have been to this restaurant many times before and have always had a wonderful 5 star experience. This time it was not. We still left a $60.00 tip knowing that today's service was just an exception day and not the rule. And i am sure they will get it together next time around.
Quite expensive but good. Be there for the oyster happy hour you won't regret it!
Very nice experience tonight. Everyone was extremely welcoming and friendly. Kitchen staff and Chefs did a wonderful job preparing the meals.
We did not enjoy it. The food was very disappointed, We were celebrating anniversary and birthday.
Awesome place.... great food... very clean... great views & ambience... our server was great, very attentive... would go back many times
Wonderful evening! The food and service was spectacular!
Great service and amazing food and fun environment.
Lovely evening on our visit to San Francisco. Recommend adding cider to the bar menu for those who are gluten free.
We had a wonderful plateau of oysters and chilled seafood with a bottle of champagne. Our seating looked out over the bay. Exactly what we were looking for during holiday for a light lunch while shopping in the city. Great spot! Service was solid and knowledgeable. Would definitely recommend.
Waterbar is a restaurant that has everything ~ great food, some of which is locally-sourced and organically grown; a fabulous view; and easy parking as they have a valet. A wonderful choice for a party, a dinner or just a drink and oysters. I always like it. Christmas lunch and then Friday lobster roll was especially delicious this year.
Amazing location, food, and service! One of my faves in SF!
