The most knowledgeable cider experts I have ever met. These guys have a true passion for artisanal cider!

This was a great place for an early (6:30pm) business dinner because we could talk and catch up, and then by 7 or 8pm it got moderately busy and full of life!

Good stuff is the brussels sprouts with honey. Stupid is the absence of cola drinks as mixers for basic drinks and cocktails. Lots of cider and beer choices. In general terms, I found the choices in this place too limited for a friends get-together.

I went to Wassail last year around this time as it was a vegetarian restaurant with a great cider menu. I returned this year to enjoy some more vegetarian food and cider but to my surprise found it was no longer a vegetarian restaurant. While the ciders were really good, the entrees were no where near as compelling as their vegetarian counterparts and the selection was very limited. Only four entrees to chose from; we had the weisswurst and it was a little bland. The anchovy crostini was good; some of the other appetizers were ok but the star was the cider rather than the food and were were hoping for food equal to the cider. Bring back the vegetarian!

The cider flights were fun to try, and the food was truly outstanding. Good value for an excellent meal, in a beautifully decorated space.

Aside from the stracciatella cheese appetizer, the food was surprisingly underwhelming. It's so disappointing because the decor and ambience is perfect. You can tell a lot of thought and care was put into designing the space. Of course, the selection of ciders is great. Would not recommend eating here, but happy hour and drinks is a must.

I was APPALLED by how SWEET most of the food was and 'ESPECIALLY APPALLED' by pork loin 'white sauce'... Just totally off... will not go back. Wow, I was surprised how terrible the food was and totally different from the pictures on their website. Pork belly appetizer was totally dried up and flat... just not good...

According to Wikipedia, wassailing "is Medieval drinking ritual intended to ensure a good cider apple harvest the following year." And Wassail incorporates some of that Medieval-ness both into the food (the Buckwheat Galette with Roasted Foraged Mushrooms) and the decor (the leather straps supporting the lights above the bar). While other gastropubs tend to be a little samey, Wassail is innovating by looking backwards. You won't find any foams or smears here. But you WILL find Smoked Duck Breast and Crispy Black Rice and Chorizo & Cranberry Beans served with Charred Bread. This is delicious, robust, hearty stuff–perfect for rainy days and wintry evenings (especially when paired with one of their hot mulled ciders). Just excellent.

Even though there was a very limited menu, the food was not terrific. We ordered about half the items listed and it was all mediocre. Our experience was also highly colored by the service. Our hostess and server were absent and inattentive and kept trying repeatedly to take dishes away from us that we were still munching on. All in all I would not revisit.

Great food, and the cider selection is unmatched. Staff was knowledgeable and gracious, despite a late party member and lingering at the table on a Saturday night. Our second visit and we're so glad to see it's still growing strong!

High quality food at a very reasonable price. Highlights include the weisswurst, the black rice, the duck, and the steak for 2. Exceptional cider list with ~12 on draft and ~50 by the bottle.

Ooh, disappointing. The menu used to be all vegetarian but now it's pretty meaty, especially the entrees. The lone meatless entree was a black rice dish, which was served lukewarm. The restaurant itself was cold, too; I ate with my coat on. Weirdly, both my original fork and its replacement had bent tines. Service was good, as was the cider, but I won't be back in a hurry.

The food used to be so much better when it was all vegetarian. I honestly used to rave about the food at Wassail NYC whenever I was with other industry folks, or out in SF, or anywhere else.

But the food now was so meh :(

And the service was poor. They had the AC up and windy. They re-issued a new receipt for a birthday cake. And they picked up and took plates away before asking if anyone wanted to finish the expensive food.

Very disappointed and will no longer be recommending Wassail or coming back.

Only good thing was the Mezcal cocktail: The Love Bird

Go for the ciders, that's the draw. There were some very special vegetarian dishes (meaning the seasonings and herb combinations were very creative. We had every vegetarian dish that was offered from appetisers, sides and mains.

The best thing about this place is that the menu of ciders and extraordinary vegetarian plates changes regularly, with the seasons, even week by week. You can discover the whole range of what cider can be from the extremely knowledgeable cider director and the friendly, passionate staff. You may think the place is about cider, but once you've eaten there, you'll realize it is actually about the food (that goes so well with the cider).

There were 12 of us total, they set up a special menu just for us and took care of us, working with individual dietary restrictions, what I like, etc. The server was sweet, the food was great, and everyone (even meat-eaters) left happy and full. Great time!
