Established in 1997 Waraji has been offering an extensive selection of sushi, sashimi & authentic Japanese cuisine. We also feature a unique selection of Japanese microbrewery rice-based beers. Our sushi menu includes the highest quality sushi and sashimi including omakase, japanese uni, hirame, spanish bluefin, madai, king salmon, hamachi and a wide variety of specialty house rolls (Scary Jerry, Hinata, and The Sweet Dragon just to name a few) Our authentic kitchen offers a full menu of tempura, teriyaki grilled items, nabeyaki udon, katsudon, sukiyaki, shabu shabu hotpot, A5 wagyu, ishiyaki, chawanmushi, age nasu, gyudon. Chef Masa, with over 30 years of sushi experience, invites you to join him and his staff for a true taste of Japan.

Waraji added an Izakaya Lounge which has the largest Sake and Japanese Whiskey selection in the Carolinas. Also, we carry Japanese Beers such as Matcha IPA, Orion, Sapporo, Kirin, Asahi, and Echigo Koshihikari as well as a fine selection of wine.

    Sushi was fantastic- fish was fresh and portions were amazing! Definitely will be back. Service was a little slow but they were quite busy. Glad we ordered a couple of appetizers- the steamed dumplings were fantastic.

    Waraji is just a superb Japanese restaurant and I think it’s the best Asian restaurant in Raleigh. The sushi is fresh, the entrees are delicious and the service is second to none. I would highly recommend Waraji to anyone seeking authentic Japanese cuisine.

    We had a great dinner at Waraji. We had salads, spting rolls and sushi rolls. All were great!

    Super fresh sushi - Creative special rolls that feature plain sushi , not spicy . One of the few restaurants that serve beef negimaki ( my wife’s favorite) Huge wine and Saki list . Not cheap 8 rolls , 3 appetizers & 2 Sapporo’s were $200 -

    I love the food at Waraji — we had a very nice dinner for 5 and were seated right away. There are a few things that I think the restaurant could work on. 1) Sushi service was very slow — we received sashimi about 45 minutes ahead of rolls. 2) The chairs are very hard. Personal preference maybe, but for a 2 1/2 hour meal, it would be nice to have some cushions on otherwise solid wood chairs. 3) The restaurant should not calculate tip on top of tax for the default %s offered during checkout. It’s a sneaky way to increase tip amounts and just isn’t right. Is hard to tell that this is being done as the “bill” isn’t really reviewable.

    We had a late reservation and I arrived 10 minutes late. I did not read ahead and see that they were closing at 9 o'clock. The bartender was very gracious in letting us know that we needed to make our decisions quickly before the kitchen closed. They never made us feel rushed and all of our food came out perfect. I was truly impressed with how professional they were, even at the end of a slow Tuesday.
