   Above all the food was delicious. I had a ravioli stuffed with pumpkin and my wife had a spaghetti dish in red sauce. Unfortunately the portions were so small that we left hungry after our meals. They charge ala carte for everything, even dinner bread. It was quite pricey for two plates of pasta and two glasses of wine. On the day we dined there was a family there with a screaming child the whole time we ate. Not the fault of the restaurant but did contribute to a sour take on our dinning experience. If they increase their portions we’d go back, if not not again.

   Fantastic cocktails; pasta was fabulously made; had white beans with focaccia for an app that was great; Gem salad great; and zapelle are a must for desert. And the staff was so friendly and helpful.

   Definitely sit upstairs if it’s available. It’s a more intimate dining experience. The food, wine and ambiance were great.

   We have been on the Big Island since February and have dined 4 times at Walua Social. Two of the four times we had a very nice experience and the two last times our experiences were terrible. The first visits both Ryan (bartender) and Salvatore were present. We had exceptional service and food. In our last 2 visits (one in the dining room and one at the bar) neither Ryan or Salvatore were there and our service was extremely bad. I would say it was as equal to a fast food service restaurant and extremely transactional. Although the food has been great on all our visits the lack of service has made us decide not to dine here again. It is unfortunate as we had high hopes this restaurant would do well and make it. Unless the front of the house begins to deliver good service to match the food, this restaurant will not succeed. I have worked in the food industry for over 15 years and it is unfortunate this is the case for Walua Social.

   We enjoyed an amazing meal at Walua Social. The staff was attentive and knowledgeable, and very sweet with our young daughter. Our table enjoyed the sticky ribs, chicken wings, Mushroom Risotto, Agnolotti with Pumpkin and Pork, Spaghetti with Ahi, and the Kona Kampachi.. all plated beautifully and tasted fantastic. Would definitely recommend, and will likely revisit!

   Great food ! Nice space, and it's not a hotel or resort. Service is really good and the food is even better !

   So many things about this place missed the mark. the main dining room where we were booked into was too cold to enjoy and they "couldn't" turn down the air conditioning. This is Hawaii no one is wearing a sweater it doesn't need to be chilly. got moved to the upstairs bar/dining area where our server was also the bartender so service was spotty. For the price of this meal where ever you sit the service should be much more attentive. The wine prices are ridiculous a bottle of okay Italian red should not be over $100. my choice to buy it but please. but the bottom line is the food. if it was amazing all of the rest of this would be less an issue. but it was not. the pasta was undercooked, not "al dente". if linguine does not twirl on a fork it is not cooked properly. the rigatoni was so chewy it was not quite inedible but close. and both the sauces were uninspired at best. again, for this kind of money I expected much better. and if this was supposed to be a fusion of Hawaiian and Italian. that may be true for the appetizers but as not for the pasta. which were unfortunately boring examples of actual Italian. Would not recommend this restaurant

    Excellent, local and handmade fare. Was refreshing to get something like this on the island. Italian cuisine isn't the first that comes to mind in Hawaii, but after days and days of poke and fish, pasta sounded so good. We enjoyed the smoked pumpkin angelotti and oxtail ragu. Both were delicious and appropriately portioned. The desserts were outstanding as well. The place was not busy and our server was very attentive. Excellent choice for foodies who want to avoid the tourist spots.
