Walnut Grill - Sunset Hills
Great food and service.
Had the Eggs Benedict. They were cooked perfectly & were delicious
I liked the veggie frittata and the mimosa was also good
I know it was a busy day on Mother’s day but we picked a late reservation at 6:30 pm.
I had to wait for my table so I went to the bar to also wait for the other person in my party.
I had to wait forever for the bartender to turn around from washing glasses to wait on me when he did I did receive my wine fast.
However I had to ask 3 times for a glass of water which I never received by then my table was ready.
We sat at the table for at least 15 minutes before We were even acknowledged .
Then I had to flag her down to get A Water!
Then after that we received our menu which I immediately asked for wings while we looked over the menu.
15 min later she came to take our order. No wings.
We then ordered our entrees with a salad still no wings.
15 min later we were told sorry they are very busy with two large parties in the other room. Understandable however we had not eaten the whole day.
Wings finally come so does salad and main course.
I said I would recommend this place only because I think with the service they are giving they probably won’t be to busy so you will be able to get a seat.
Mother's Day visit was our first visit and we were pretty underwhelmed. We were seated in the "dining room" which was a shotgun area of either 2 person or four person booths along the side wall of the restaurant. Imagine IHOP, Denny's, etc... It was quite surprising considering the menu and the higher cost to dine. Speaking of the menu, we were given a limited menu for the day with no direction on the menu for what was included with entrees. (The waiter told us that the full menu explains things better) The soup ordered with my entree didn't appear before my meal, so it was cancelled. Aside from the missed soup, the food really is very good and well prepared. I've never seen filet mignon on a kids menu, and my children were thrilled to have options that weren't burgers and nuggets. Overall it was just ok. The good food is a strong positive, but the rest of the experience was lackluster enough that we probably won't return. There are a lot of better options in Saint Louis with good food at that price point.
Too crowded (people in the way to buffet in front of hostess station), overpriced, food was cold, no eggs benedict left twice, only offered prime rib & salmon for lunch, inattentive waitress
Great place for Mother's Day brunch. The cost was expected. Food was plenty. Getting there at 0930 seating was good and a little busier at 10. Overall good experience. Looking forward to going back for dinner and drinks.
Wonderful brunch buffet with a wide variety of tastey foods.
The food was great! And even though we had a large party, the staff was excellent with our orders getting to the table in a timely manner. Great service!
Delicious food! Best breakfast around. Only complaint was the service could have been better. Otherwise, we will definitely be back!
Made reservations, seated promptly and ordered Bloody Mary’s with recommendation from Patrick.
Excellent! Food presentation was very nice and quite tasty.
Very good but a little loud
Great happy hour specials and a big metal chicken, which was really what had me sold. I own my own 7’ tall metal rooster named Joe Cocker.
Food was ok but overpriced for what we got. Our waiter was fine but because we were put in the back away from the main dining room, we sometimes felt everyone had forgotten about us. The hostess was not at her stand when we arrived. We stood there for several minutes. She was not seating someone but rather wandering around the dining room. When we left, a different hostess was at the stand. She did not look up or acknowledge us in any way as we left. And no she was not helping other customers. Both my son and husband commented that it is the first time we have left a restaurant when the hostess (or whomever is at the front) did not say goodbye or acknowledge us in some other way. It was very, very odd. I don't believe we will go back because of the price of the food compared to the quality.
Anjelica was our waitress and she was wonderful! It was a good meal and a nice alternative to cooking for Easter
Was looking for somewhere for Easter lunch. Online menu looked great...lots of choices. Made a reservation for 12:15. Seated promptly and had a very friendly waitress.
Then we were informed that it was buffet, and there was a very limited (5 items or so) breakfast menu if we didn't want buffet. No mention of that on website. Maybe I should have called. All other places I checked online discussed buffet only.
So...we had a middle of the road buffet for $26 or so a person, plus a charge for our iced tea and coffee.
Ambiance is okay, but it still looks like a Ruby Tuesday with a patio.
On one hand, the Waffle with Chicken and jalapeno was sad . I have had this dish all over the country and using some kind of chicken meat pattie is not the way to go. You need a chicken breast that you know.... looks like it was once a chicken. On the other hand, my wife liked the Burger and it did have some good flavor. I also liked my Bloody Mary....so there you have it.
Seated immediately and server was very busy but friendly. Offered to separate checks for out party of six and we were seated, as requested, in a quieter part of the restaurant. Food was quite good. We’ll be back!
Didn't realize I would not receive reward points because I used a gift certificate . Will not ask for gift certificate from Walnut Grill again. not sure why??????
i really like this place good food, i like that the happy hour is till 7 and not the usual 6 that most have
They couldn’t find our reservation and were totally unapologetic about it. Didn’t even try to resolve the issue or help us out at all
Good food and good service. We liked having so many options for breakfast and lunch options.
Great food and great service. I had a reservation and was seated immediately. The menu is so diverse and had something for everyone. I plan to go back very soon!
Second time visiting. Despite checking in 20 minutes prior to our reservation, we still had to wait 15-20 minutes after our reservation to get seated. Service was SLOW. Food was above average.
I go there in nice weather love the outdoors patio, but Food is not Good service is very slow, have given them at least 5 time to improve , but nothing better , to bad for them . a good place to go is needed in area. and its not cheap. they also ran out of Spedini at 6:30 on Wednesday evening ,A Big NO NO .
Sorry to have to write about a place with bad food, but that's what it was. I met two friends there for lunch last Tuesday (26/19). I picked WG-Sunset Hills bc it was half way for each of us. The service is excellent and the restaurant is very nice and clean. Friends ordered chicken spiedini & brussels sprouts and the appetizer: chicken lettuce wraps (which ALREADY had some type of asian slaw on the lettuce) with some chicken in heavy sauce in the middle of the plate in a bowl-she said it was good). I ordered the CA Turkey Wrap-which was very cold and had so much goat cheese that I had to open it up to get to the greens-tom&avocado. I threw the other half away. For my side I ordered the veg of the day-brussels sprouts. Now I love them but these were very hard (like raw) on the inside and no seasoning at all. I asked them to pass the salt! LOL ! That didn't help either-so those werent eaten either.. All in all, we had fun visiting but we all would never go back again. I would not recommend this WG or the one in Ellisville that I have been to, either. Just bad food.
Huge kids meal portions!! Good food!
It was my 1st time there very pleased with open table reservations waitress & food was excellent we will definitely be back the neighbor ladies go out every month.Thank you
Everything was great for our Valentines Day dinner. My only complaints were that the menus were filthy and all of our plates weren’t cleared throughout service. Waitress and staff were very polite and accommodating.
We had a mixed table of dietary needs and our waiter was quite clueless. When we asked for a few omissions to our food to accommodate these needs it was meet with an attitude of overwhelm. He gave us misinformation regarding ingredients in sauces, stating they had gluten, then handed us a tattered gluten free menu, that included this sauce. Considering the prices on their menu, the atmosphere and service was far below expectation. The food itself was creative and well done, although our flat bread was slightly burnt...which our waiter said - wasn't that bad... It just fell very short of our expectations. We will not go back.
I have avoided dining at WG for quite some time because service was so bad. Food has always been good, but service sucked. My dining experience this past weekend was encouraging. Service has improved. Food was excellent. Will see what the next visit turns out to be. Hope it is even better. This is a nice neighborhood Place and I want to go there often, but service must continue to improve.
Restaurant was mostly empty but we were seated right next to a server station. Would have preferred less foot traffic.
Amazing Valentines dinner. Excellent food and service.
We made a reservation, but did not realize there was a dining room and a bar area. They set us at the bar and told us they would let us know when a table opened up, but it never did. We were there for dinner, not just drinks and bar food and it was disappointing as tv's were on and it was rather loud. Next time I will request a table in the dining room.
Always great salads!!! Servers are courteous and knowledgeable.
My wife and I are regulars, mainly for breakfast on Sundays. This time we introduced another couple to WG for dinner. We booked our table online and it was ready when we arrived. Our server was friendly and efficient. All 4 of us enjoyed what we ordered. I had the Farfalle Chicken Pasta. It was good but I thought the serving could be a bit bigger. The person who had the Kale Salad said it was very good. All around good meal and good service, as we are used to at Walnut Grill.
Dinner out with my parents. Delicious filet with sides and a salad. 2 fish entree cooked perfectly. Chicken Ladue was enjoyed by my dad. Highly recommend for a terrific meal
This was our first time there. The portions were well sized and all the food was delicious. We will go back!
A very great evening. Celebrated our teenage daughters birthday and all 4 of us thoroughly enjoyed our meals. The portions were more than plenty. We did not feel rushed while we enjoyed excellent fellowship and food. Hats off to all the staff as well.
This was our first visit to Walnut Grill and the service was great. The food is pricey, but it was good and they have a huge menu, allowing everyone in the family to find something they like. I am looking forward to trying their breakfast menu next.
