Walnut Grill - Ellisville
Walnut crust, spiced orange marmalade
Fried Brussel Sprouts
Gorgonzola, balsamic reduction, candied walnut dust, ranch
Food was good and patio was open for seating. Tables were distance nicely. It got fairly busy early which impacted the server some but otherwise was good.
Good food and beer. Good prices and. goood location.
My first time! Everything was fantastic!
Always great service at Walnut Grill. The food is wonderful. I like the variety on the menu. They are wonderful about accommodating my gluten sensitivity.
Great on all levels. Food as fresh and delicious and service was great. Appreciate that the noise level was low and that we could actually have a conversation with our friends without yelling. We’ll return!
Good food good service good value
We are very disappointed with our experience. We had a 7:45 and didn't get seated until 8:20. No one took our drink order for several minutes and food delivery was slow.
The food was delicious but we waited about 30 minutes with a reservation. Perhaps too many reservations were made for the dinner hour on Valentines Day.
Great Valentines dinner. One of our favorite places to dine.
Thank you for the 5 star review! We hope to see you again soon, Russ!
Great meal and experience at Walnut Grill in Ellisville. Nice table and great service. They did an excellent job for Valentines.
The whole experience was disappointing. The server was very condescending and treated us with little respect. She never cleared dishes throughout the meal. Her appearance was unprofessional for the restaurant. Service was extremely slow. The steak wasn’t prepared correctly and sides were cold. I will not return.
Valentines Day. There is nothing to complain about. It was crowded for 5:30pm. The help was a bit understaffed as there was one couple in the SW corner booth who wanted to have that extra attention and fussed at the server. I think it threw the service detail off. Overall it was ok.
No dessert offered.
Grilled shrimp overcooked.
$10 martini a bit much
Service very good considering the crowd
We enjoyed ourselves immensely. Our server, Susan, was outstanding! Everything was great!
The service at our table was great, however the hostess completely ignored us for some unknown reason. We had a reservation and she said it would just be a couple min as people were getting up. We waited for a table to be cleaned for 15 min. We could see it but apparently no one cared that we were waiting for it. Two other couples came in without reservations and were seated in the bar where our reservations were. I finally asked the manager who said she wasn’t sure why we were still standing there and she’d seat us immediately. She took us to a booth in the restaurant. I asked if we could move to a high top in the bar as we’d reserved it to see the hockey game. I told her about the table that still wasn’t bussed and she said she’d clean it herself. At this point we’re walking into the bar from another direction and we could see four or more tables clean and open. I asked about them and she said that of course we could sit at one. She was very apologetic and still was not sure why we hadn’t been seated. It’s not that the hostess could forget us as we were the only people standing 19 ft from her in her lobby as she leaned on the hostess stand almost the whole time.
The food was just so-so. We live less than two miles from the restaurant and have been there only 4 times over multiple years as it’s never been anything we cared to go back to. I guess we’ll mark it off the list again.
Food was mediocre. The fish and chips was not good. Bread was gummy and butter was tasteless and had been sitting out too long. My salad was drowning in too much dressing. Our server, Baily was good. We didn't complain because we were with friends. The two hostesses were overwhelmed and asked me 3 times for our name.
Busy night at Walnut Grill but the service and food were great.
Swordfish dish fabulous
John, so glad you enjoyed your dish! We hope to see you again soon.
It was a very enjoyable meal. The warm bread with a raspberry marshmallow topping was a surprise. The French onion soup and Caesar salad are both good starters.
The sauces surrounding the orange plank salmon and the swordfish spiedini are wonderful. The baked potato and the baked sweet potato are both good sized and tasty.
Joe, thank you so much for the wonderful review! We are glad you enjoyed your dishes. We hope to see you in again soon!
I figured walnut grill was top notch but christin proved otherwise. I was told the included $3 side dish could not be converted to the $4 side dish for $1. "It isn't allowed". Made no sense to me and was not a good start to dinner. She did not make us feel welcome and seldomly tended to us.
My wife and I had a 5:30 reservation on New Year's Eve, and were promptly seated. The service was good, and atmosphere festive. The food was a good value, but not over the top good as I remembered. Next time I go, and I will go again, I may simply have a sandwich and skip the more expensive entre, which was just pretty good.
Just meh. Everything about it is meh.
We had to wait 25 minutes for a table in the dining room even though we had a reservation. That is totally unacceptable!! They wanted to seat us at a high-rise table in the bar!!!!
Overbooked reservations. We waited 45 minutes past our reservation time to be seated. Front desk staff always aloof or not at the desk at all for long periods of time. We found our own open table and asked the front desk of we could have it...thwy didn't seem to know which tables were open. Once seated, the table was dirty, with food and silverware on the floor around us. Waitstaff were overworked and not attentive. Our salads arrived about two minutes before our entrees. Our table was never bussed.
On this occasion my sister and I went there to celebrate our birthdays. We had a reservation and were seated right away. Our server was a little busy, but friendly and took care of us just fine. My sister got a pick two with lobster bisque and a pasta. I ordered the lobster bisque and chicken and Brie quesadilla. While the bisque didn’t contain any actual seafood the flavor and texture were absolutely delicious. I do wish that you could just get a cup when ordering it separately because a bowl of it is a lot to eat because of the richness of it. While my quesadilla is considered an appetizer I wound up taking half of it home because of my big bowl of soup. I enjoyed it and will definitely order it again. Next time I’ll be sure to order a little extra raspberry preserves with it because it makes a delicious combination. My sister liked her pasta, but felt like it could have used a little more of the sauce on it.
The only thing I was disappointed in was the iced tea. It tasted either like it was old (we were there at noon) or a little strong. I do love good iced tea and may be a little picky on that item. However, when I asked for a soda instead the server was glad to get me one.
I enjoy the Walnut Grill a lot. In fact, I once have a baby shower there because I think it is a very nice restaurant. I do highly recommend it!
I think the bartenders name was Katie? My husband and I chose a high top because that's the setting we prefer. Maybe three other tables in the bar. She seemed to enjoy the banter with her coworkers and friends more than with her guests. We started with the stuffed banana peppers, which were good. I ordered the crab cake with a garden salad and VOD. He ordered half Thai mac and half walnut salad. While my crab cake was delicious, I was disappointed in the size. By the time I was halfway through it and the broccoli, my salad came out. The mac was runny, but the walnut salad was great. Will probably not be back, but if we get a wild hair, we will definitely go in the dining room.
Great food as always!
Great food and great service.
We didn’t get our salads and mentioned that when the meals came. We said don’t worry about salads now - just remove from the bill. There was no adjustment to our bill and we asked again for some credit. We were told there was no additional cost of the salad and therefore, no credit. Hmmm...We pushed and got $2 credit. I’m not sure that’s the appropriate credit but how it was handled was poor. It really soured our experience.
This was our first time dining out for Thanksgiving and Walnut Grill did not disappoint. The food was absolutely delicious and the service was amazing! Very attentive. It was a perfect evening all around. This quite possibly could be the first of many Thanksgiving dinners at Walnut Grill.
Outstanding Thanksgiving brunch! Everything was delicious! Turkey and dressing, prime rib, boiled shrimp and my favorite the walnut salad. Pecan pie to finish.
Great chicken spedini and shaved brussel sprouts. Cocktails were good too
Great serve staff and did was also great food. We truly enjoy your atmosphere.
The food was good. Our server was very busy and seemed short handed. Would recommend to friends and family.
Great food. A very good night.
Food was delicious, but the highlight was our outstanding server, Jessica.
We had a reservation and when we arrived they told us they couldn’t honor it and had given our table to another party. We have never had this happen before and It is totally unacceptable. You can guarantee we will never eat there again and not recommend it to others
Food has gone downhill.
