Walnut Grill - Ellisville
We had not been to this Walnut Grill in quite sometime and were disappointed in the changes. We felt the service has deteriorated so that on our visit it was uneven at best. The menu had changed rather drastically from what we remembered and seemed to have veered toward "bar food" rather than the "fusion" type of cuisine from the last time we had dined there. My wife had the club sandwich which is not something she would have ordered, normally, for dinner. She found it uninspiring as did I the seafood bugatini.
Overall, the experience was disappointing.
Food was fabulous. Crab cakes and two sides. Service was fairly quick. Server was friendly and knowledgeable. Still think ambience inside could you warming up. Outdoor patio is great.
Our experience at Walnut Grill was horrible. We arrived before our reservation and were told they were getting our table ready. After 20 minutes I asked what the hold up was to learn they gave our table to a party that had arrived after us by mistake. By then we had been waiting 40 minutes past our reservation. They told me it would be another 20-30 minutes. When I asked to speak to a manager she found us a table in 15 minutes. Once we ordered it took an hour and 5 minutes to get very average food. Won’t be going back.
Out food was good, but we waited 45min for our food to come out. Our server was nice, and it probably wasn’t her fault, but the wait seemed excessive.
Walnut Grill is a great place to gather with friends and visit. The menu is varied so there's something for everyone. We enjoyed ourselves immensely and appreciated the delicious fare.
My wife and friend ordered steaks. One a strip the other a ribeye. They asked them to be prepared medium but both came out raw. Our waitress, Aurora we great. She took the steaks away and had new ones prepared. The issue is that my meal and my friends meal where fine so we ate while the others waited for their new meals arrived. This was not fun! Really put a damper on the whole experience. When the bill came out, it showed all the meals listed including the ones sent back. We asked Aurora to bring the manager over. Very nice young man! He took care of the bill and made the corrections.
Now, it would have been nice if maybe he would have comped some dessert, but he did not. Overall, the night was a disappointment and not sure if I would consider going back again. Our visit was at 6:00 on a Friday night., May 3rd.
Had lunch there with lady friends and a good time & good food was had by all !! Would definitely go back very nice patio!!
I had Chicken Piccata and it was excellent! The service was great and we had a lovely dinner
They we good as usual. We find ourselves going there more than we used to.
The food was O.K. We had Salmon and Flounder and both was served on the mushy side.
Th food was excellent. Lots of meatless choices for a Friday in Lent. I was a little puzzled as to why the hostess led us through the quite noisy Happy hour bar when she could have gone another way to seat us in the peaceful dining room.
Good service, good atmosphere, good customer and very friendly
First time at the Ellisville location & we truest enjoyed it. Food & service were excellent
Open table.reservation was not honored for us or the group that came in after us. . Fix this
My family and I had dinner on Friday evening. Good drink specials and a kids menu the fit my daughters perfectly. The walking tacos were new to them, and a hit. Then who could pass up ice cream sundaes for dessert. Adult entrees were ok. My pork tenderloin was cooked to perfect temperature but over seasoned. My wife’s garlic parmesan wings were a bit on the bland side. Our server was friendly but didn’t really pay much attention to us resulting in empty drinks and plates left on the table for awhile. Prices were reasonable.
I enjoyed 3 Items from the seasonal Mardi Gras Menu. All were delicious. My partner had the pork tenderloin medallions which were also excellent.
Great food and drinks. Excellent service and location. We will return.
Hans was our server and did an excellent job. He was friendly, professional and offered good suggestions when asked. The food was very good as well. We both ordered different salmon dishes and were happy with each of them. We will be back .
Fantastic food. Excellent service. Not the quiet and the ambiance of other fine-dining places - is more "busy". If you don't mind that, is a great place to go for interesting and very good food. Have been there before, will go there again.
HORRIBLE service. Just awful. I go here regularly and this was one of the worst experiences. Service is never great but it was especially bad tonight. The food came out of the same time. They did not clear the dishes off the table. There was no room on the table. I finally took some dishes and moved it to another table so we would have room for our plates. It took 20 minutes to get a drink when we first came in. They were not that busy even though it was Valentine’s Day. We went a little bit late so the crowd had cleared out.
Food was very good. I had the walnut salmon with orange glaze. The service was great.
Mallory was our server this night and she was excellent!
Had a reservation but still waited 20 minutes. Ordered sauces on side but came on entree. Ordered drinks halfway through dinner & never came until we paid the check. We then heard a different waitress tell 2 adjacent tables she would be comping their drinks since they had to wait on their drinks. We got out drinks after Bill was paid& had to sit to drink them.
Great food and excellent service — I love bringing my kiddos here. You don’t have to sacrifice great food for kid friendliness. Lovely variety, and the Brussel sprouts appetizer is a hit every time — even with the kids. Not a cheap night out, but a comfortable place where you know you will have a satisfying meal, drink if you choose, and will be taken care of by the friendly staff.
Just a bit noisy at lunch.
Waitress was great. Excellent food. Thanks.
I ordered one dish but was served another. I ate what I was served and enjoyed it
Food & service were great. The only problem I had was being able to hear - this was a Saturday at 7 pm and the bar was crowded. Everyone was having a great time. But our table was right at the bar entrance so all the noise carried right through the door. I would definitely come again but would ask for a table farther from the bar or I would come at a time when the bar isn't so crowded.
Food and atmosphere were good although the waitress was a bit short with us
We went there for the advertised breakfast buffet, but were disappointed. Ended up enjoying a delicious breakfast ordered off the menu.
Wife ordered steak / crab cake, which was excellent! Service was very good. Got in early for a New Years Eve dinner. Lots of others did too. We have been to this location several times, and it never disappoints.
The waiter was good. We were with friends and it had a good atmosphere. We enjoyed happy hour prior to being seated for dinner. My grouper special was OK. My wife had cod and it was very good. I would recommend to friends.
Was a very nice meal had three generations for dinner all enjoyed the experience.
We were excited to try Walnut Grill because they went out of their way to accommodate our group of 8 by opening up a private room for us. Unfortunately, our waitress wasn’t too pleased. NOT ONCE did she crack a smile. NOT ONCE did she ask if we had questions about the menu. NOT ONCE did she offer suggestions. NOT EVEN WHEN ASKED! I asked about two different dishes, and she offered nothing; her only response was to take the specials menu away from me....when I wasn’t done looking at it! Seriously....if you weren’t ready with your order when she was ready to take it, you were either passed over or given a look of frustration. Not that it was her fault, but drinks were slow to come. And rather then begin with my 80yr old father, she started asking for my husbands order first. Just not good server etiquette. Basically she lacked the necessary skills of her job.
Food was mediocre to good. None of the steaks ordered were to the doneness requested.
Understandably the holidays are a tough time on waitstaff, but with so many out of towners from St. Louis visiting, it’s time for your A game. And it just wasn’t there tonight.
Excellent walnut salmon. Yummy sweet potato fries.
Good food, good service, reasonable price. Very nice place to eat.
Our waiter tonight was not as attentive as I normally have had. My salmon dish was drier than normal & the noise from the bar area flowed into the regular dining room that is normally quieter!
Staff was friendly, knowledgeable, helpful and attentive. What more could anyone desire.
6 pm reservation for family of 6 on a Monday evening. Restaurant did not appear to be busy. Took 1 1/2 hours to get our food. Waitress offered dessert for our kids due to the long wait. This took another 45 minutes. No manager came by to check on us. We go out every Monday for family dinners and will not consider going here again.
The walnut/pear salad was very good; I split the small one with my husband. The fish tacos were very tasty as well. I ordered brussel sprouts and they were delicious. Prices were reasonable. Nice ambiance.
