Hard to explain the experience. We thought this would be a nicer hotel restaurant but it’s outdoor type tables next to the pool with a distant view of the ocean. The pool is set in the middle of wraparound towers of rooms so you don’t really feel like you’re outside even though it’s open air. The table area feels more like a mall food court even though you have a nice view in the distance. Ambiance definitely doesn’t match the high prices even though you can see the ocean. Two men were playing guitar and singing Hawaiian music, and a hula dancer performed to some songs, and that was all lovely. Everyone is having a hard time getting workers due to covid, so the servers were stretched a little thin. Our main waiter had his nose poking out of his mask, which was kind of off putting. Overall it was ok but not the relaxed upscale experience we expected given That they take reservations. There aren’t a lot of good dining options in this part of Kona so if you’re in a pinch but aren’t pinching pennies, it’s fine

Fine dining prices without the quality or ambiance. Wine we had to send back, it was sour and the food was just ok but 35$ a plate. I had seared Ahi which was cut into two thin fillets that left the fish cooked all the way through. Dessert price on the menu was less than what I was charged for a coffee with a half a scoop of ice cream. Live and learn not to go to restaurants in Hotel Resorts.

We loved this restaurant and the kids are begging to go back. Our only complaint was the live music was too loud.

Our server was amazing and the food was good, although given the price I was expecting a little more from my NY strip steak which I ordered medium, but it came out rare. I am sure I could have sent it back, but I don't mind rare. The biggest problem with my steak was flavor...it had no seasoning on the sear, not even salt and pepper. Two of my guests ordered the pasta and they loved it. Three of us ordered drinks and they were very nice. I wasn't a fan of the open Cafe seating, which honestly felt a little cheap, but with COVID we didn't have any other options. Lastly, the sunset views and the Manta Ray viewing deck (and our server) more than made up for any issues I had with my food or the seating. Overall, I would definitely recommend an evening here.
