Best brunch we have had in a long time. Food was excellent!
Food was phenomenal. Wine list exceptional. Can’t wait to get back!
We had a phenomenal brunch here! The cocktails were divine and food was outstanding. Bonus points for playing Fleetwood Mac’s “Rumours” album :).
A delicious meal in a small, eclectic. space. Seasonal cocktail was good also.
Felt very safe dining here with all the protocol management has implemented to prevent the spread of COVID. Service was prompt and friendly and the food was outstanding.
We really enjoyed our dinner and drinks. The fried chicken is out of this world delicious!!
Food and service were outstanding. The dishes had a unique flair. Felt COVID-19 safe during the meal.
Exceptional cuisine, atmosphere and service which exceeded my expectations.
Visited Asheville with a friend. Great service and great food. Was nice to get away from downtown a bit and actually find a seat.
Unforgettable experience from start to finish! The great thing about Vivian is you can come in post up on the bar and get the amazing snacks or order food to go or sit down and have one of the best experiences of your life. Service is amazing and the food is even better than that. Chef Josiah and Shannon, his wife, have created an unparalleled experience in Asheville.
One of Asheville's finest restaurants in a great location.
Cute space but food is less than mediocre. We had the duck and the fried chicken. Both dishes were not good.
We absolutely love Vivian--the menu is well put-together, seasonally focused and they use plenty of local purveyors. The service is excellent and on point.
Pandemic dining at its finest! Although we were lucky to have a beautiful evening, Vivian seemed fully prepared for chilly nights with an ample supply of heat lamps. The wine list and cocktail menu had options for everyone. The food was outstanding. I started with the Salad du Saison. The charred horn backer cheese and smoked croutons with the lightly dressed vinegarette complimented the fresh local greens perfectly. My husband started with the Maitake Mushrooms served with a farmers cheese and lamb lardo that was a symphony of flavor. We followed our starters with the pan seared fish in a beurre blanc sauce balanced with fish roe and greens that was fantastic. My husband had the seared duck leg stuffed with duck sausage, among other things, and served with an amazingly tasteful jam. Not wanting the experience to end, although we were full, we shared a piece of the lemon soufflé cake that was light and flavorful. Our server was also outstanding-knowledgeable, friendly without being intrusive, and not rushing us. For several hours, we were able to forget all of the world's/country's craziness and just enjoy an evening of dining. Thank you Vivian!!!
I am one of those patrons with dietary sensitivities (grain free diet) . Since dish selections are created when ordered using local ingredients and stocks/sauces are made in house, Shannon (co-owner, FOH) can quickly review the menu with Chef (husband, co-owner) and let me know the day's safe choices. Most items already meet the criteria and very few ingredient changes are necessary to make me and my gut happy.
Dish selections are creative using seasonal ingredients and well executed. Mixed drinks are always unique and served in really cool antique/vintage glassware. They have a take out menu available but only for dishes they feel will travel well without losing integrity. We live in Asheville and Vivian is on our top 3 list.
Always exemplary food and service. Vivian is also doing a fantastic job protecting both their diners and their staff.
Great ambiance, great menu, great service. Excellent date or friends dinner experience.
Great food and service, felt normal for a night, highly recommend.
Great experience. Food and service was spectacular
Amazing food, amazing staff and service!
Top 5 meal in the last 10 years. The duck was amazing.
Excellent food and service with a wide selection of items to choose from that are healthy and provide chooses for everyone
One of the best breakfast plates I’ve eaten
Vivian's was wonderful! The staff was very kind and the food was even better! It reminds me a lot of French food, but with an American twist. If you are down to step out of your food comfort zone, this is the place!
The owner (front of the house) is awesome. Very attentive. The bread was incredible. Loved the chicken mushrooms. Really nice outside dining....even in the rain. I would definitely go again.
Great service. Great vicktails.
Our first visit for Sunday brunch. We will return. We’ve had dinner here before and it was excellent. Brunch is fantastic! Innovative menu. Beautiful presentation. Delicious food and drink (the bloody Mary’s are wonderful). Strict adherence to COVID-19 safety practices. Masks required. Social distancing. Outdoor dining.
Another great brunch at Vivians!
We love this place and are never disappointed. I started with the mussels in curry sauce - I don't know how Josiah gets all that flavor in there but he does and they are delish and the bread to wipe up every last drop of sauce is perfect. Finished off with the Shrimp Kedgree - haven't had that in ages and it was so so good. Of course, my eyes were bigger than my stomach so I had leftovers for lunch yesterday - still yummy. My partner had the new pancake with cheese and bacon and syrup - it was more like a cake and so so good!
Shared a bottle of Rose - perfect!
Very accommodating to allergies/dietary needs. Food was good and so was service
Very good food and very good service. The duck was excellent!
Great find!! Loved the food and the outdoor terrace. So lucky to have found this place.
Food was fantastic! Honestly we (4 of us) each got a different meal and could not stop raving about our dishes. Appetizers and drinks were delicious. Ambience and service were wonderful. Staff were attentive and kind.
We visited this restaurant based on reviews we read online. As locals, we were very disapponted. We have lived here for 20 years. It was our wedding anniversary. The duck was fatty, undercooked, and steeped in runny polenta. My wife ordered the ribeye and it was so fatty she could barely find the steak. I sent the duck back and was offered an alternative. The menu is small so I ordered an eggplant appetizer. It did not taste like baba ganoush so was not edible. When the final bill came, we were charged full price for both entrees, appetizers and very disappointed. We faithfully support local businesses and local farmers and were looking forward to enjoying the restaurant Vivian. Sadly, we cannot recommend.
Everything was great, no complaints!
The food was wonderful. The menu is not your everyday. So expect different and exciting, which we loved. Everyone was so friendly and helpful.
We love Vivian. It’s one of our fave Asheville restaurants. The food is delicious, the cocktails potent, and the vibe woke.
Innovative, delicious menu - fun, bright setting - a great place to dine.
We went for brunch and had the most delicious biscuits as part of the meal. The coffee was excellent, food was super tasty and surprisingly so even on their classic breakfast. Server was attentive and followed COVID protocols. Can’t wait to go back on next visit to Asheville
Wonderful as usual. The staff was friendly; looking forward to next time!
Our favorite Asheville restaurant.
Never disappointed 🥂
