Major difficulty was upon arrival. We gave our name and reservation time and then watched as three different employees all tried speaking with a disgruntled patron as more people came in the front door and waited. There are ways to work with the unhappy while still keeping the flow going so as not to add to the list of the unhappy.
Had to wait a bit even with a reservation; food was overcooked, & not worth the money . They get such a big crowd from the Fox & Powell & should be better prepared .
We normally enjoy Vito’s before going to the Fox. We had a reservation but we weren’t seated until 30 minutes after our reservation and they actually seated a party before us who had a reservation after us and arrived after us. We did make our show at the Fox, but barely and I was very stressed. Not the normal experience I expect.
We had the worst customer service. We got our drinks 25 minutes after we sat down. Our food never actually arrived. We watched three other tables get served and they all arrived after we ordered. Our server was scrambling and we caught her not telling us the truth twice. We also witness another table not getting their food. We were so disappointed and will not go back.
The best sicilian style pizza. No Lambrusco to go with it. Room for improvement on desserts. Salad portions could be larger. Overall a good quality and value.
My colleague and I dined here on a week night. It wasn’t too busy. The food was above average for this category of Italian restaurant. The service was excellent. I had a pizza , thin crust with ham and sausage. Pricing was reasonable. We will go back in the future
One of the best Caesar Salads we have ever eaten. The greens were fresh and crisp, the dressing very creamy and delicious. One of the best! We shared a Vito’s Special Pizza. The pizza was served hot, and the combination of meat and veggies delicious. The pizza was large enough to share, and we left with a box containing three pieces.
The service was great. Our server bought hot bread, oil and vinegar, and water just as we were getting settled at our table. A lovely, casual dining experience.
Service and food were excellent. It did get really crowded about 5:30 pm, which slowed things down a little with our dessert. Everyone was very professional and helpful. We loved the tutto mare and the spaghetti carbonara.
Went to Vito’s before seeing StLouis Symphony Orchestra concert
We love going to Vito's before any of the shows at the Fox Theater. It's very convenient to park by Vito's on the street then walk to the show and then back afterwards. We love the food there and have never been disappointed!
Our server was not attentive at all. I spilled my water and she didn't fully clean it up, left the table wet. We got our food only moments after receiving the glasses of wine we ordered. We had to ask more than once for boxes. The chicken piccata was cold.
Overall not a good experience, the restaurant was busy, which was understandable, but definitely felt forgotten.
Things seemed very disorganized. Ask for bread and was told that was the busser’s job. Never did get any. Will rethink going back.
I ordered salmon medium and it came well done, too dry.
As always great food, servers always attentive. Busy night and they make sure you get to the play on time
We stopped in with reservations before a Fox production. Ambiance was very nice -- food was very good and reasonable. Service was outstanding, with constant asking to be sure we were very satisfied. Food was well prepared and presented Enjoyable evening with friends.
My boyfriend and i decided to come here for our 1 year anniversary and we were ignored after being seated for about 25 min. Our waitress was more worried about the older guest table she had. It wasn’t until my boyfriend got up to complain that a man came to get our drink orders . It seemed apparently she gave our table to him and after that great service. But it was terrible being ignored. We almost left.
Good food and good service. They do a good job getting patrons of the FOX theater to the show on time.
Wonderful place to go before the Fox Theatre or just a night out! Great service and delicious food! I took my 13 year old daughter and she loved it also! Food for everyone!
Food and service were great!
I always love Vito's for their great service and great food. A little disappointed this time--food wasn't as good as usual. Pasta sauces didn't have much flavor to them and I seriously think the seating areas have gotten even smaller--I know you want to get as many people in as possible before the Fox, but we were in the laps of our "neighbors" trying to get in and out of our seats. I will still come back--just hoping it was a bad night.
Wonderful food , lots of selections, very nice staff-- Thanks
Thanks for another great dinner before the Fox! You always do a great job of providing efficient and friendly service.
This is the second time we have tried to eat at Vito’s before a show at The Fox Theater. Both times, it has been a bad experience. The first time, we ordered an appetizer and never got it, and it took so long to get our food that we we’re stressed about making it to the theater on time. We gave ourselves an hour and a half before the show, which should have been plenty of time. Tonight was even worse. Again we ordered an appetizer and it took so long to get it that my husband finally asked about it. Apparently they completely lost our order. Had we not asked about the appetizer, I guess we would have skipped dinner. They raced to get us our dinner but mine was cold when I got it. We has to ask for bread, while all the tables around us got some, and had to ask four times for water refills. My advice is to stay away from this place if you have to be somewhere after. The food was good, but we wee so rushed to eat it, we didn’t really get to enjoy it.
The strength of the menu is in the dough for the pizzas and calzones, and the dinner rolls as well. The fillings/toppings are varied and good, and the basic tomato sauce is tasty. The Pastas are also good, but we usually opt for calzones or pizzas. Service is very good, even during busy times, and they are well aware of pre-theatre schedules. It is usually a good idea to book ahead of time. Vito's is reliable and enjoyable.
We loved the Sicilian Pizza...a 10" pie easily fed two of us with leftovers to take home. We walked to Vito's after the Fox performance...should have discovered this gem years ago! Lots of great pasta choices on the menu and traditional pizza yet to try!
Delicious! Great outside patio with lights and beautiful atmosphere. Wait staff were wonderful!
Always reliable and delicious food. But this visit, we had a very snarky server who made our pre-theater meal less than pleasant.
What a wonderful place that makes you feel like family when you walk in the door. Food is what you would expect- quality taste and presentation. Always proud to take someone here to enjoy the experience
Good food. Had tickets to The Fox. They made sure we had our food & served in good time.
Love the Pizza
The chicken and broccoli had the texture of being microwaved. The mushrooms looked and tasted like they had come from a can. It is clearly obvious this place is using mostly canned and frozen ingredients. The wait staff was terrible, multiple empty beverages throughout and they did not know the vegetables being offered that day.
This was our 2nd visit to Vito's. The 1st visit was pleasant and is convenient to the Sheldon for dinner before a show. This visit was not a very good experience. We were seated promptly and drinks were ordered and arrived accordingly. We ordered salads and dinner at the same time. Salads came out in a normal amount of time. Dinner took way too long...over 30 minutes. But, only 3 of the entrees arrived. The last entrée took about another 10 minutes. After a couple of quick bites, we got a to go box in order to get to the Sheldon on time
Our waiter, Jeff, did his best but got absolutely no support from the kitchen. He did his best to rectify the situation by not charging us for the last entrée and even offered complimentary coffee and dessert (we didn't have time).
We have another reservation before a show in the near future, not sure if we will return or not. If we do, I'll let you know how things go.
Fantastic! Great service, outstanding food!
We really enjoyed our visit! Everything was great and the marinara to dip the raviolis in was awesome. If I make it back there, I’m just going to order two orders of fried ravioli for my dinner. So good
Great place to grab a bite before anything in Grand Center area. Food is always great but beware the portions are large! Suggest moderate eaters split an entree and get a salad. This time sat on patio so noise was not an issue. Light crowd so service should have been pretty quick. It was a tad slow. Highly recommend this place.
They were closed. They had nothing stating they would be closed online. We tried calling and got no answer and no recording saying they would be closed. They also had no sign on the door saying they would be closed. We waited outside the restaurant for 10 min thinking maybe they were a little behind, but the chairs were on the table and the building was empty. I understand being closed for a Holiday but make sure to let your customers know even if it is just a sign on the door or a facebook post.
Excellent pizza. Friendly and courteous service. My friend and I got to talk and share photos in a lovely place over a delightful lunch. We shall return.
After years of passing by Vito's, I must say I was not disappointed with my first visit. Not only will I go back but I will recommend it to family and friends looking for a very pleasurable dining experience. I can give no less than 5 stars to Vito's for the ambiance, the service and the food.
This was our first time an it was such a surprise. The decor reminds me of Sorrento and totally updated. It was better than most of the places we have visited on the HILL.
We at Vito’s every chance we get. That’s a pretty positive review.
