We didn’t care much for the order at the bar for food and beverage. Each time you wanted something you had to order at the bar then they bring it to you or you can bring it yourself. No wait staff. Ambiance is nice and the view of the bay is fantastic. Love the outdoor deck.
We ordered at the bar and the bartender was attentive and nice. Our drinks were good and the food was too. The views were outstanding.
Our server, Alexis, was outstanding. He promptly responded to requests and ensured we had an enjoyable evening. Since this was the 4th of July, the restaurant/bar was very busy but we still felt catered to by Alexis.
We appreciate the Chef offering a vegetarian option and all the food & wine were excellent.
The manager, Kelly, worked diligently with her entire team to make the evening a delight.
This is not a restaurant! Very disorganized! Most people felt lost and they made you feel lost when u get there. The food was terrible I ordered duck confit hash and the duck was so salty that I couldn’t eat another bite of it. The only thing good about this place is the view. Negative
The view from the outside dining is fabulous. The view overlooking the San Diego Bay is calming and relaxing. However, we would have liked to see turkey sausage as an option on the menu.
Our food was great and our service person Alex was outstanding.
Great staff. Great view. Very good menu. We went back later the same day for a drink.
The bar service for ordering food was completely uninformed about menu. Service was slow at best, and servers seemed totally uninterested. We were told the fish of the day was grouper and it turned out to be Seabass. I am sure there is a better alternative for Ocean view dining downtown.
Our Father's Day experience was almost perfect with the exception that there was no table service but understand under today's circumstances this was beyond the staff's control. However, the bartenders were amazing, super accommodating, and very friendly! We will definately be back and would recommend this place to everyone!
Better for lunch. Brought friends for dinner. Not appealing to order at bar. Also, full sun, but not all umbrellas worked apparently. There was a big party below, so added to noise level. Food was ok, not amazing. Too many other choices for next time.
I had a reservation, however, no one really, no one to seat us. Only one bar tender who was running around & taking orders.
There were long line of guests waiting for the table. There was actually no service at all. Very disappointed.
If I wanted to eat at a decent place. I better have servers serving me. Instead, you have to literally walk to the bar and the bartender takes your order to hand it out to the kitchen staff. I get it, we’re in Covid times. But that’s NOT the way to serve your guests or customers. The view outside is nice though. Will I ever eat there again? Maybe if they get it together!
Okay, food good but will not return
The worst tasting food I’ve had in the area. Fish tacos were stinking. The fish was not fresh. Chicken was undercooked in the salad wrap. Overall a crappy place for food.
Amazing view, great burger and cocktails
A bit overpriced for having to place our order at the bar and food then brought to the table. Server seemed annoyed when we asked for waters and never once came by to ask how we were doing. Yet, a 15% gratuity was automatically added to the total. it also seemed very short-staffed when we were there. The person who welcomed guests (very friendly & efficient) also took their orders AND had to step aside and make specialty coffees and cocktails. Food and view were good, though!
The best food we had while we were in SD! Would totally go back! Beautiful views, too!
Self seat, self order at bar , cocktail barman looked very experienced I was impressed however martini glass too small so the remains got thrown away ! Fish tacos bland , cheeseboard was terrible - looked like leftovers from my fridge . Little kids running riot on the patio . We were staying at the hotel which was nice but Unf wouldn’t again . No service as such and no one running the show . Friday night and empty restaurant , not surprised we would not recommend or go back
Terrible experience, didnt even eat there, no food just drinks , servers were rude and no help
Overall good. Only critique was that no one served us, we had to ask where to sit, when to order etc as if no one knew what was going on, but not the end of the world. Overall nice food, good view and reasonable price.
This outing was for Mother’s Day. Everything was great until our tables were attacked by a seagull that kept circling around the outside eating area. I had to move my mother inside because she was uncomfortable. I loved the food and service though. Nice staff
Incredible view makes everything a great value on the menu! Service was also on point. Grateful for a solid brunch experience for Mother’s Day!
We picked vístal based on other reviews and photos that made it appear appealing. When we arrived, we were taken to our table outside and told we had to order everything back inside on our own. Really the only thing this place had going for them was the view. It didn’t seem so much a restaurant as it did a hotel bar. The drinks were tasty but the food experience was not great. The burger that I ordered medium rare came out cooked all the way through and when I asked for it to be refired, it took more than 35 minutes before food was brought out. At this point I had already gotten up and asked for our bill and did not want the burger anymore because the party I was with had finished eating much earlier than the 30 min window that had passed.
View at Vistal is awesome. We had apps and drinks, which were pricey, but to be expected with the location. Downside is there really isn't very good signage of building and/or parking. It appears they have two parking options, but they don't. First figure out the correct building and park in that structure. We parked in the building adjacent and learned the hard way they are not connected. Luckily Fabian from ACE Parking was roaming the area as I'm assuming the parking confusion here happens frequently. Fabian helped us get a refund since the validation didn't work where we parked. With the parking validation we saved $18, which makes the Vistal experience a little more manageable.
First impression: the staff - knowledgable and friendly.
Second impression: the view: "An elevated view of San Diego Bay, the USS Midway and sunsets over the Pacific lets you take in the city on your terms.'
Food: Waygu burgers! Amazing salmon. There's something for everyone.
Great view and would be perfect for just-drinks.
Order food however was clumsy with COVID protocols and was far from relaxing. From self-serve water, silverware, and waiting in line to order from a minimally staffed bar... It was time-consuming and not relaxing.
The food was good, I just wish there were more menu items to choose from.
They had no table reserved for us. All the outside tables were full, so we left.
Drinks were good. Just a bit noisy being in the lobby.
It was an odd experience. Go to the bar to order food and they were disorganized and not particularly attentive. Food is delivered to the table but if you want a refill you go back inside to order. The menu was limited but the food was good.
We went for a late lunch and sat outside on the deck. We had a burger (yummy) and a pasta dish (also yummy but rich).
Service was excellent. I ordered the pepperoni pizza and it was good. Drinks were good. Great place for a meet up.
Made a reservation days in advance for an outdoor table. There is a host that does not check reservations, says it’s first come first serve, and there is no server. Not worth the money or experience. We walked out. Disappointing for a preplanned celebration evening. Reservations are obsolete.
Great location & good drinks. Pricey and the menu indicated a happy hour that was not present when I arrived.
Un lugar en donde tienes que atenderte personalmente las bebidas las pides en la barra antes de sentarte
Beautiful setting good food and service was fine given the co-vid related restrictions
The terrace is nice and has beautiful views. The service is good and the food as well but they do not have a great variety.
Had the fish tacos & a beer. The fish was tough and chewy like rubber. It tasted just like it was freezer burned. Yuk. A fitness class was going on below us and their music was competing with the restaurant’s music. Beautiful view though. Outside dining only. It was chilly even with their heaters on. Overall, a disappointment.
Thank you so much Natalie and Eman for making our dinner such a wonderful experience!
