Virgilio's Pizzeria & Wine Bar is the brainchild of a man who was born just outside Naples, Italy, and immigrated to the US in 1966 along with his brother and his parents. He was surprised at the way Americans view food - bread came in a plastic bag? Tomato sauce in a jar? Unthinkable! So, when he opened Vigrilio's Pizzeria & Wine Bar, Virgilio cast his mind back to the way his mother cooked - he remembered pots of tomato sauce simmering slowly on the stove, bread fresh from the oven, and the ever-present scent of olive oil in the kitchen. This is what informs the menu at Virgilio's Pizza & Wine Bar. Pizzas are cooked in a traditional brick oven, and the tomato sauce is made from scratch. There are no short cuts, and that's exactly how diners at Virgilio's Pizza & Wine bar like it.
