Located in one of Toronto’s most prestigious hotels, King Edward Hotel, Victoria's is a popular spot for business brunches and theatre goers alike. Executive Chef Daniel Schick has brought the guests of King Edward almost 25 years of astonishingly delicious and consistently inventive gastronomy. The Chef fuses traditional and cutting-edge contemporary in his preparations, integrating seasonal and local ingredients with classical cooking methods.
So, I want to preface this by saying I have celiac, so I specifically went here because of their gluten-free tea. As my partner was my young daughter who had the children's tea, I cannot comment on the normal tea quality.
I was so excited to come here because they have a gluten free tea and, honestly, I haven't had a tea experience since I was diagnosed. I brought along my youngest and we gave it a shot while on vacation. Her tea looked delicious and delightful -- she ate every bite.
My food, however, was ok. The appetizer was nice -- bright, fresh mushrooms and pomegranate seeds were a tasty combination. The sandwiches were a mixed bag. I liked the gluten free white bread they used, it was light and went well with the egg salad and chicken salad. They had a different kind of bread that was dense and dry, however, which really did a disservice to the beef wellington and fruit/nut sandwiches that were served on it. The desserts were good, if a tad standard -- mousse, creme brulee, macaron, macaroon, and a flourless chocolate cake were served. The macaron and macaroon were very nice, but the others were nothing to really write home about. Which leaves me to the last course, the scones were downright inedible.... and that was probably the thing I was the most excited about. Dense as a neutron star, bone dry, and flavorless... they couldn't even be helped by the lemon curd and clotted cream that were served with them. I couldn't even finish one, nevermind the two given to me... and I saw no reason to take them with me either.
Service: Service was... ok... Maybe it was too busy for them, but our server seemed flustered. Even though I confirmed with 3 people, he was surprised I needed GF accommodations. The meal was excrutiatingly slow and it took us 105 minutes to have our tea and be done... during which our tea pots were never refreshed with hot water.
Overall, an ok if disappointing experience.
It is difficult to write anything but that the experience was disappointing, the quality is not there.
This place is an absolute disaster the food quality is comparable to a first year high school student, the vibe, they initially sat us in the left over room in front of the main room claiming this is an extension of the main room. It looks and feels like a scene from prison break.
The manager is wonderful manager and very accommodating but i wish he was not working in this place.
Save your self the trouble and dont go here
Was expecting the sovereign room.
I frequent all of the downtown tea places. They all have decent service but at The King Edward I am always treated like royalty. Desserts and scones are always outstanding. A year and a half ago the vegetarian sandwiches were horrible but last month I saw that they post their vegetarian options online (no other place does this, you just have to wait and see what veggie food they bring you). The sandwiches were so delicious for their autumn menu that I came again for the Christmas menu. It has now become my favourite place for tea. Thanks Kenny!
The only thing is that they need to do is spruce up the décor. The carpet is drab and out of date, the walls are boring white with a few ok paintings. They need more decoration. And I did not like being served in the lobby when they were full last year.
This time Food selection wasn’t great and very limited amounts.. service was slow :( but I love that place !!
Our service was excellent and the Eggs Benedict yum!
Victoria Cafe was our go to breakfast spot during our stay at the Omni King Edward Hotel. The breakfast buffet was very complete with hot dishes of bacon, sausages, potatoes, eggs, and either french toast or pancake. All toasts, bagels were available to freshly toast. Fruit, yogurts, meats, cheese, sweet breads - everything. As well as chef prepared omelets. Definitely will return.
Although the hotel lobby is beautiful, the room where tea is served felt like a banquet room, no character.
Our server asked if we had any dietary restrictions, we said no and I added, “no allergies and no vegetarians,”. He clearly didn’t hear me correctly (it can happen) because he brought my companions a normal plate but brought me a vegetarian plate. He explained everything on theirs but didn’t explain my different vegetarian options, which one would have expected. Anyway, then I told him I wasn’t vegetarian and he brought me the normal plate.
Then, when our sweets were presented on the tea trays, he wished my sister-in-law a very happy birthday! It wasn’t her birthday, we certainly gave them no reason to think so, but her tray had a lit candle and “Happy Birthday” written on the plate in chocolate. (It was nicely written, though). He was embarrassed, and I’m still wondering about who the REAL birthday guest was who then had nothing special done for them.
Having afternoon tea is something my grown son and I enjoy as a special experience between us, and have done so in nine cities in four countries now. This was by far the most disorganized and unmemorable.
Milestone birthday celebrated
Hector provides terrific personalized service. We enjoy this convenient location and return regularly. Highly recommended
The breakfast restaurant is expensive and obviously caters to business travelers staying in the hotel. The food was okay, however, the coffee was not. The best thing about this very expensive breakfast for two was the service.
Checked into the hotel for the weekend to celebrate husband’s b’day. The food and service was great. Just felt that the interior needed s little upgrading. My chair was unstable and the mirrors in the walls were wearing out.
The hotel used to provide one of the more elegant breakfast dining options in Toronto. Quality food ordered from menus, with attentive service. Was a prime spot for a business breakfast meeting. Unfortunately, the hotel's restaurant now offers the same run-of-the-mill buffet breakfast as the average hotel chain, consisting of mediocre, lukewarm offerings, not all promptly refilled. A let-down. Will have to find a proper business venue in the City -- if one exists.
Lovely breakfast ... starting with confirmation call from hostess, enhanced by the beautiful hotel setting, and topped off with great service from our server Kenny, who was so attentive and friendly.
Hector is a fantastic server! He always takes care of the little things during our breakfast meeting. Terrific spot!
Small room. Crowded. Old fashioned decor. Average food.
Great location and does a lovely breakfast. Highly recommended for Brunch!
Hector has been our waiter for years . Excellent service .
Top notch service, totally blew me away. Well worth it. Had such an amazing experience.

Excellent service and freshly made breakfast to order.
Always spectacular service. Thank you.
For Mother's Day Queens Tea, we were seated in the bright, spacious, and stately ballroom adjoining the Victoria Cafe. Our party of 4 adults and one 4 year old were seated at a large round table with plenty of space. We were comfortable but also were able to have conversations easily with each other as there was no music and no noise in the space. The tables in the ballroom were nicely spaced apart too so it didn't feel crowded. After informing the staff in advance twice of my daughter's gluten-free diet, there was a mix up in communication on the day of the reservation which the wait and kitchen staff rectified on the spot. Communication and logistics between Open Table and the King Edward for Mother's Day tea reservations was a problem. Open table and the hotel are not in sync and caused me a lot of trouble in the 3 to 5 weeks up to my reservation with respect to the time for my reservation, the number in my party, both Open Table and the King Edward also sent me incorrect reservation confirmation emails 2 or 3 times. A big plus is how they accomodate children and babies easily for the Mother's Day Queen's Tea. They never made me feel guilty for bringing my child along which is the impression some can get in other places.
High Tea service was excellent. The service and the food was great.
Enjoy having breakfast @ Victoria’s . Hector is a great waiter .
This is a fabulous place to go for meals. Staff are very friendly. Food is well prepared. I have been going there for over 15 years.
It was perfection. Food was wonderful. Service was attentive. Ambience was lovely. Wouldn’t hesitate to return.
I'm a fan of Afternoon Tea and I have been to many services :) The food and tea selection was fantastic, but I wouldn't call the service 5 star - they took a while to seat my party of three, and we were crammed in a small table, while there were bigger tables empty or with only two people around us.
We booked the 4:30 timeslot and the service seemed extremely rushed, like they wanted us out of there ASAP. I wasn't offered a glass of bubbly or sherry with my tea (which I would have liked) and no one refilled my creamer.
Pastries and savoury treats were delicious, but service quality was definitely lacking. I've had better.
The scones were to die for. Delicious pastries. Wished they have had regular cucumber sandwiches.
We had a great time with our family. The food was very good and the service was great
The service was very good. The staff was quick and attentive. The food was outstanding. So many complex flavors and above and beyond for a brunch for sure. The desserts we're some of the best I have had at a brunch, truly outstanding!
Food choice and taste was ordinary. Nothing exceptional for that repute of hotel
Variery in dessert was lacking, but the quality was good
Our experience was exceptional
Our waiter was very attentive the food outstanding
The ambience and service amazing
The coffee was also very good
Our experience was overall great. We were very happy with our server. He was very polite and courteous, and took his time to explain the various types of tea and food served. We also had two other employees who came and greeted us and asked us about whether we were enjoying our food.
Overall, it was a great experience for us.
Afternoon Tea as Christmas present
The buffet food was cold and the service was slow. Really not worth the $60 Sunday brunch price tag. The one good thing was the free flowing mimosas for $20.
Very accommodating great breakfast something for everyone
