At Viaggio, we’ll awaken all of your senses with a dining adventure. We will intrigue you with the sights, sounds, tastes and textures, reminiscent of the intoxicating elegance and unparalleled vitality of modern Italy. Inspired by the intimate setting of Italy; the romance of an afternoon in Venice; the sweeping vistas along Sicily’s breathtaking coastlines: At the heart of Viaggio is the spirit of Italian excellence and the appeal of the Hawaiian Cuisine.
From the depths of Italy’s southern waters, with its world-famous seafood—to the rich, indulgent risottos by the culinary maestros of the north—Chef Rodney Uyehara has travelled through the multifaceted legacy of Italian cuisine, infusing this inspiration with a flourish of local, Hawaiian flavors, to craft a menu as alluring as the country to which it pays homage.
We decided to have dinner here before going to Phantom of the Opera Sunday night. Great staff with the understanding that most patrons having dinner @ 5pm were also going the show. Service was excellent (thus for the 4 stars).
Food was a bit of a let down. We came here to try something new that is close to our condo, especially for the gnocchi (which they were out of) so my wife ordered the Pappardelle De Carbonara. She was a bit disappointed with the heavy dousing of white cream sauce. Probably should have asked for it to be tossed with olive oil and garlic instead, our bad!
I haven't had Osso Bucco it years so decided to try it here. Great flavor with a touch of curry. I'm no chef but shouldn't the meat fall off the bone and you can cut it with a fork? or that's my memory of the last time I had Osso Bucco. This one I had to use a knife to cut portions of the meat off the bone and from each other. or maybe that's how it's supposed to be?
Again, thank you for the wonderful staff that took care of us...

This is my second time at Viaggio and this review is primarily about my reservation on opentable. I booked a reservation two months prior and the night of my dinner, Viaggio did not have my reservation in their system. I also called the restaurant a few days prior to confirm my reservation. It was an extremely busy night and I have to give credit to the host who graciously gave us a table. I am very discouraged from using opentable again if this issue is not resolved.
The service at Viaggio was extremely slow (again it was a busy night) and the kitchen ran out of one of the dishes my guest ordered (one of the more popular dishes there). I suggest in the future that they employ more staff and account for more food knowing how busy a night it would be (based on reservation count).
Overall, I would visit Viaggio again based on convenience and location.
If you were raised on the East Coast this wouldn't qualify as Italian.
The ambience and service was outstanding. The food not so much
Everything was on point at this establishment. I recommend this restaurant for anyone who wants to have an intimate 5-star experience. The food was amazing and I’m definitely going back to try the different dishes.
Great food. Awesome service. Would definitely come back. I highly recommend Viaggio.
Server was mediocre. He did not check on us, did not ask if I wanted another drink, and nor did he apologize when it took over 20 minutes to get 1 drink.
My sister and I enjoyed our dinner. There was one little hiccup, though. When the waiter was taking my order I asked a few questions about what came with my dish (chicken piccata). I asked for a side of pasta and agreed to the linguine. And then he walked away but DIDN'T take my sister's order! We had to flag him down to give him her order! One more little thing...I know pasta because I worked in two different Italian restaurants. I didn't get linguine...it was thin spaghetti. Linguine is a flat pasta. However, I am willing to give the restaurant another shot.
Linguine Tutti mari は、せっかくふんだんに魚介類を使っているのに、味が染み込んでおらず。。。素材もいいものを使っていないのがよく分かりました。(ホタテは甘みを感じられない、など)
I've eaten quite alot here, I hate to write a poor review but this isn't about the restaurant. The quality of everything was great but our server Daniel must have been new. I ordered an old fashioned that came out pink. That's a bourbon drink. He took it back and brought me another pink one after I asked for just bourbon and bitters. Forgot our beer for the entirety of our dinner. I will be coming back for dinner, I just hope Daniel is having a better day next time.
It actually sounds like it was an issue with the bartender, though that does not excuse forgetting anything you or your party requested/ordered. If we had to guess, it sounds like the bartender used Aperol or Campari to mix with the bourbon, as they are both considered a bitters or aperitif, and both have a distinct red coloring. That said, that is a very uncommon use for that liqueur. We will bring this up with our bartending staff. Mahalo for your review.
Food really was not good. Soup was overly salty, clams were bland, salad was... just a salad, burger was mostly dense bread(along with being luke warm). Prices also are very high for what you are getting. I don’t mind paying top dollar for a meal but there are certain expectations. i didnt bother taking pictures.
We would like to apologize for the disappointing experience you had at our establishment. We strive daily to make sure our dishes impress, and because that did not happen, we are very sorry. We hope that you try giving us another chance in the future, as we do take every review to heart. Mahalo for your review.
We came early, so it was not crowded at all. Our waiter was incredibly attentive, and the drinks, appetizers, and entrees arrived right on time. The bread was good as well. Overall a great time.
Came here for a birthday recently. The food was absolutely delicious and our server was top notch. We would come back again...
We were sitting next to the private room, they should have closed the door and use the side door, distracting and noisy at times
Food was good
- excellent service
-live music good; tad loud
-gnocchi really good
Nice food with reasonable price.
Had a great business meal with visitors. They were very impressed with the appetizers and quality of the main meals. Coming from metro cities, they certainly felt it was an exceptional experience! Service was attentive and made the experience even better. A great surprise was a pre selected dessert for everyone to share, especially since all the desserts were made in their very own pastry kitchen. Wow!
Great birthday dinner. Couldn’t have asked for a more special occasion and Viaggio added all the touches to make it exceptional. Thank you, and we will certainly send all our friends.
We had an early dinner so I don't know how loud the live music is when they play; we were able to enjoy conversation and a quiet dinner before the music started.
Service was attentive and accommodating. Food was pretty good.
At the table next to us, the lady returned her pasta with chicken complaining that the pasta was hard and chicken was dry, but our food was fine. I wasn't crazy about the taste of the sausage in the puttanesca but my husband ate it all, so he liked it. I enjoyed the gnocchi.
Everything was great but the female server that rudely continued to interrupt our dinner conversation without ever apologizing or politely saying excuse me.
We dined at Viaggio before attending a show at the Hawaii Opera Theater. The proximity to HOT and to the Blaisdell Center is incredibly convenient and also one of the driving factors of choosing to dine there. The menu had enough selection to make you feel like you did indeed have "choices" but didn't carry too many options that you felt stuck in choosing something. I would like to see some "Pre Theatre" options perhaps. Allowing for a salad, glass of wine, and an entree (maybe even a dessert) to be priced together. This way, when someone orders it, the servers and the kitchen know that the table is going to be attending a show, and might provide a little bit faster service. The food was molto saporito!!! Good wine and cocktail selection. Friendly staff from the front to the back. The ambiance was very enjoyable. I appreciated that it wasn't a large restaurant, and that gave it a more cozy feel. All in all, I will definitely be returning, show or now show!
Best Italian I've had on island, and I grew up with an Italian mom!
I can’t say enough about the fabulous food, it was delicious and portions very generous! It was fantastic seeing Chef Rodney doing what he does best! Our server, Miriam, was very attentive and provided wonderful suggestions on the menu.
Here’s where it fell a little short for us. The lighting in the dining room was very harsh, and much too bright for what I would consider can be a special occasion restaurant. It felt like we were eating in a diner with bright overhead lights. We also had two different colored napkins - brown and black - on our table.
In the dining room, tablecloths were uneven on some tables, not consistently straight or uniformed on all sides. Lastly, staff should not be sweeping so closely to the tables while guests are eating. He should have used a dustpan as he swept, rather than sweeping the flower petals in a pile, then picking it up later.
I will definitely come back with friends to enjoy more of Chef Rodney’s culinary creations! Congratulations, VIAGGIO, you have arrived!
Food, ambiance and wine was perfect. Still need to fine tune staff.
First time there for brunch. Excellent selections and very good. Service was friendly.
The food was not bad, Miriam was awesome. For $65, you need to have fresh seafood and an omelette station.... No au jus or horseradish for the prime rib..... Deserts were dry.... I will check out the happy hour and dinner sometime in the near future.
We used the private dining room and had pre-ordered appetizers which were delivered as we arrived. Wow'd us with their service and attention. Great space for dinner meetings up to 12. We even finished off the evening with some craft cocktails overlooking the Blaisdell and City lights. Can't beat the view, service and dining experience! We'll be back for sure!
The menu options were very good and the wine selection matched the meals perfectly. Great service from Matt!
The staff was very nice and the ambiance was also nice.
It’s so unfortunate the food was so poorly cooked.
The meal was not worth the price we paid and the quality was horrible.
Thanks for your visit and feedback. we are disappointed that we didn't meet your expectations this visit. We hope that we have the opportunity to serve you again and win you over with our food. Aloha!
Food was great. It is a little pricey, so just be prepared to spend a few $$$$. Service was excellent and we were able to enjoy a nice relaxing dinner. Our biggest disappointment was that they were out of a couple of desert options which we wanted to try.
Mahalo for your feedback Dean! We apologize for selling out of the desert you fancied. please let us know when you are coming back and what you want to try.
I had high expectations for this new restaurant but I didn't think the food was up to my expectations. Small menu and did not feel it was an authentic Italian restaurant.
Thanks for your feedback and sorry that we didn't meet your expectations. our menu vision is Italian inspired with Hawaiian flair. we hope you will visit us again and try some of our signature items...
Everything was great — but a bit noise. Hard to have a conversation even within our table.
Aloha Barbara, thanks for visiting with us. Next time you come please ask to be seated in a quieter place. We look forward to seeing you again soon!
We had a delicious meal at Viaggio. The octopus appetizer was very tender. My husband had the cioppino and I had the linguine tutti mare, both were flavorful and had lots of shellfish.
The entertainment that evening was wonderful - a duo playing beautiful Hawaiian music as we know it from the Hapa band.
Unfortunately I felt the service was not up to par with the prices being charged for the meal. Wine bottle self poured, no changing the shellfish shell dishes, no finger bowl or extra napkins, had to ask for new cutlery after the appetizers.
The restaurant has potential for being a wonderful experience but needs to kick up service standards since the prices are about in line with $$$$ restaurants like Hokus.
Pros: free valet parking, handicap accessible, takes reservations, live music, professional service.
Cons: Overpriced for food quality, music too loud.
Dakota was an amazing server. We came to have dinner here before attending an event at the Blaisdell and it was perfect! Can't wait to have an excuse to go again.
Outstanding Italian food and service!
I wanted to like it more than we did. The space was oddly laid out next to a car dealership. The tables were set up close to each other, but wider than was comfortable to talk to your companion. I was closer to the person next to me on the bench. The food was irregular. At first we only received a salad and appetizer menu, so we didn't know what entrees to plan for. The onion soup and our salad were very good. The sauce on my chicken carbonara was very good but the chicken was dry. I think it was held under a warming light too long. My companions fish was a little tough, but again his sauce was tasty. He had to saw at it with his knife. We notice someone else complained and was given another piece. Our panna cotta dessert was very good. Service was good.
It was a Friday night. Four of us wanted to try this new restaurant and we also wanted to talk many stories. When we got there the musician was playing music which is lovely but we kind of expected for a quiet night.
The service was ok. We asked wine menu but our waitress never came back so we ended up asking a different guy.
We ordered one appetizer and threw entries and none of them were hot.
In a hale way of our dinner the live music needed so we finally could have conversations with normal voice. But in 40 minutes, the top light on the table because so bright. And other area was dark. We took the hint it was our time to leave. Just us and one more table in the restaurant.
Overall, we all were not so satisfied with the meal and the night out.
Should have checked if they have live music on Fridays.
We shall go back? Not likely but we are glad we tried.
The food was very good. The only drawback was the putanesca was a little too salty for my taste.
New restaurant with good ambience and location, happy hour is respectable with choices of pupus. Great wine selections. Steaks are ok. Service is excellent
