Vertical Detroit opened its doors in 2015 under the expertise of James Lutfy and Remy Lutfy. Their combined fifty years of wine knowledge, obtained after owning the Fine Wine Source in Livonia, Michigan, studying wines across the globe and simply having an absolute passion for it, gave Vertical Detroit the title of Downtown Detroit’s first high-end, wine-centric restaurant. Vertical Detroit serves as a wine bar/restaurant/retail space in the historic Paradise Valley district of Downtown Detroit. The space gives patrons a luxurious, yet comfortable atmosphere to enjoy quality wine, beer and liquor, paired with small plates, entrées and desserts. The wine bar concentrates on wine flights, specialty cocktails, shareable plates and retail sales. Vertical Detroit has something for everyone; whether you’re downtown for a casual drink, date night, catching up with friends, or stopping in after enjoying a show.

We celebrated our anniversary Wednesday night. Iesha was our service. Just lovely! So friendly and funny. Food was top notch.

This was our second visit to this restaurant. We were able to reserve and sit at the bar. It was quite loud in there but once the loud table left, it was fine. Food was delicious. the menu it is not extensive, but it doesn't need to be - they selected several excellent dishes to choose from. We had the charcuterie board to start and moved on to entrees from there. I had the scallops (the sweet puree as a bit of a kick, but not too much. My husband had the filet and it was expertly prepared. We didn't need dessert, but they have some great selections. I think I would try to pear cake next time. A complementary after dinner drink was given, as we were celebrating my husband's birthday. Staff was attentive, owner was present and active and the wine list is amazing. We will definitely go there again.

We had a lovely dinner celebrating our 51st anniversary at Vertical. The food was inventive and delicious...don't miss the grapes wrapped in Brie and rolled in pistachios! The bottled wine list is extensive (1500!) and many are offered by the glass. You will not be disappointed with a dinner at Vertical. Just plan on a night when the Tigers are not in town...parking was at a premium and VERY expensive! We were lucky to find a free spot on the street after driving around several times!

The food and drinks were amazing! Lauren at the bar was a pleasure to meet. She was very knowledgeable of the food and where everything is sourced from! The owners were also present and checked in during our time. Vertical is an amazing date night place.

The atmosphere was a hip vibe- yet quaint and trendy. The lined wine bottle walls and cozy coves created the perfect vibe for celebrating my son’s 19th birthday! He loves steak, craves waygo, and occasionally dry aged his own. The steak -ribeye -was prepared PERFECTLY! The Demi-glacé was an essence of culinary skills & melted like butter! The ENTIRE halibut meal was created by a refined palette! Loved the celery root with the capers and the fresh celery to add a depth of “crunch”! Onto my drink- ESPRESSO MARTINI WITH JAMESON- omg - a party in my mouth! Thank you to the GM- our two servers (my apologies I didn’t get the names of the lady and gentlemen that tended to us) the TEAM was stellar. I can’t wait to bring my dining group of 12 to come and experience a GREAT TIME!
