Veronica Fish & Oyster
Our server Kyle was knowledgeable & did a great job making sure we had everything we needed & our apps & entrees were timed perfectly. The food & drinks were beautifully prepared & everyone loved their meals.
We have eaten here several times before but normally just eat in the bar area and have appetizers. This time we went for brunch and sat at a table. Service was spotty. Nice young man but not real attentive to the things around him. Maybe it was the live jazz entertainment that distracted him, I know it distracted us. Not good at all. The drinks were good but small. The food was very fresh and good tasting. Maybe just a bad brunch. Next time we will eat outside.
Veronica's never disappoints! It has seasonal menus and many great classics. Although largely seafood centered, there are always other great options - pasta, beef and more. What sets them apart is the service, so often an issue elsewhere. Their servers are well-trained, never need notes, attentive, but not hovering. We don't eat there that often but because we asked for a certain server (Dominic), the manager sent over our cappuccinos on the house to thank us for a repeat visit.
Food and service were excellent.
Oysters were chilled perfectly and contained a good amount of juice and loved the mignonette which was not overpowering. Fresh shredded horseradish equally delicious .
Nice wine selection
Whole fish preparation was simple, healthy and delicious
Chefs version of bananas foster was by far the best I have had and not sickening or heavy as many are
Service was extremely attentive and unobtrusive
Absolutely fresh tasty amazing seafood. And great atmosphere and service.
Outstanding service and food except a little noisy.
This was our third visit to Veronicas. The first was to celebrate our 50th Anniversary, arrangements were made by daughter and everything was perfect! From the first moment we walked in, everyone was friendly, efficient, perfect service and great food.
Victoria’s Oyster and seafood never disappoints. We , accompanied by out of town guests had a great meal, great wine and tremendous experience from oysters to sides to entrees and desserts it was exceptional.
Everything about our recent dining experience was top notch. Our server Patrick was outstanding. This is our 4th time there and we have never been disappointed. Great food - terrific cocktails - awesome vibe throughout the restaurant.
Delicious and consistent.
Great customer service,
Food was not up to our expectations. We will not return.
We have many great seafood restaurants in Sarasota and this not one of them.
I really enjoy the atmosphere here. We’ve ate here 3x. However this time we dined here it took 10 minutes for the waiter to even acknowledge us and take drink orders. The table next to us sat after us and they had ordered drinks and apps all before us. It was a little annoying because we had the same waiter. He eventually apologized and rushed our apps out to make up for his mistake.
It was our first visit to Veronica’s. We loved it! It was a friendly, comfortable restaurant with outstanding food.
Veronica’s is the best seafood restaurant in Sarasota period. I’m from New England so I’m used to good and fresh seafood. The oysters are the freshest anywhere. The fish selections are wonderfully fresh and well prepared. The Brussels Sprouts are to die for. And Susan is one of the finest waitresses we’ve ever had. And we eat out every night when we are in Sarasota ( for 9 weeks) each winter.
The meal was not inexpensive but worth every nickel.
We do like the fish dishes at Veronica's (have not had meat) but the noise level is ridiculous. Need to do something about that. It was hard to talk to each other.
First time at the Restaurant. No complaints whatsoever. Great atmosphere, wait staff extremely polite, professional and food served in a timely fashion. Most of all, the presentation and taste of the food was amazing. Definitely will be back.
The food and service were both top-notch, but I marked it down slightly for the variety of dishes and innovation. I don’t usually give 5 stars unless there is something striking and original. The food here was pretty uniformly New Orleans style seafood, but it was very well done and the service, ambience and quality was all first rate.
In town for a visit and decided to go there.
Great experience! looking forward to the next visit!
Great food with superior service. James was efficient and engaging. His grasp of the menu is outstanding.
Dinner was wonderful! Our server Adam was attentive, polite and very pleasant! It was our first time there and we were very happy with our experience. We will be back!
Good and reliable spot for dining and more. Excellent, friendly and knowledgeable service staff and I'll mention Patrick for his help in choosing amoung the varied options. Will visit again.
Best restaurant in Sarasota. Went to other restaurant that where similar in price but they lacked the creativity and quality.
really wanted to like this place a lot, but the food was disappointing for three of us, although our fourth was very satisfied. one of us ordered the crispy thai fish, deep fried. it was dry and not as spicy as described. two others ordered the blackened grouper BLT sandwich. although it was a good fish sandwich, it did not have the appearance or taste of a blackened ingredient. the salads we ordered were fine.
in spite of the above, we plan to return. the ambiance of this place is outstanding, and we liked the service. they deserve another chance.
Veronica's was the perfect choice to enjoy a lovely dinner and celebrate New Year's Eve. Fabulous food paired with excellent service ..a winning combination!
This was my first time dining at Veronica's and I know going on New Year's Eve could be tricky. The restaurant was busy but not overwhelmed so we did not feel rushed at all. Our server was attentive and knowledgeable about the menu though we were disappointed the kitchen was so inflexible with minor modifications to most dishes (such as getting the fish only from the surf and turf special). Overall, though, we had good cocktails and the food was good. The pumpkin pot pie was especially good but the upgrade for the crab addition was a bit pricey considering there wasn't much crab added. In all, though, a good spot for dinner.
great food, different type of menu. Good presentation.
Wonderful service and the meals were delicious. Our first visit and there will be many more to follow! Thanks for a lovely evening!
Always great service and delicious food!
When Veronica's first opened, it was much better. The menu items were prepared better, plated better and tasted better. I'm not sure what has happened over the last year, but the restaurant is NOT up to par. Atmospherically, it still "feels" the same, but it seems they're resting a little too much on their laurels. Snap out of it!
Could they possibly smother a baked oyster even more so you don't even know there's an oyster in there? Could you add more sea salt to the potato rolls and butter - excessive and most people were scraping it off! Could you make the "whole fish" presentation (piled on one plate without thought like an overzealous buffet-goer) any worse? This is not how you used to serve it. People "eat with their eyes" as much as their tastebuds. Horrible presentation of their signature dish.
Train your service staff to "serve" customers who are going to have an average per person tab of $50.00. We had a server come to our table and crassly tell us..."hey, they gave you the wrong bread 'that's for my five top." She was reaching over to grab it when we explained, "it's our 3rd order and we consolidated it to make room." Do not grab customers' food off their table when they are clearly eating it!
Hopefully, Veronica's will clean up their act and make adjustments. The Caragiulo establishments are typically run quite well. Overall, the food is good...but the downhill can come pretty quickly if they don't pay attention.
Foods was good and quickly served.
Great service-James. Table on sidewalk relaxing & fun. Food delicious.
We visited Christmas Eve and had a lovely meal. Our waiter Patrik was great - very attentive, knew the menu very well, but was not hovering over us during the meal. The entrees were very tasty and the tuna poke appetizer and beet salad delicious! My only concern was that the collard greens were way too spicy, but Patrik suggested next time to mix in with the corn that came with the entree and that would tone it down.
The fish is perfectly cooked
We had an excellent dinner. Two old friends catching up over wine and a delicious meal with bananas foster bread pudding for dessert.
Their name says it all...almost. It would be more accurate to read "Veronica's Excellent Fish & Oyster".
This is my "go to" spot in Sarasota for fresh well prepared cold water oysters. Several kinds of P.E.I.,
MA and CT oysters. Carefully shucked and nicely presented.
The mussels were by far my favorite item we tried all evening. Nice wine selection and quality of the food was very good. I found the layout of the dining room a little odd with tables and booths facing each other so if you want to people watch its a great spot.
It would have been perfect but we were told the dessert was on them and then, when we got home, we found it on the bill. I’ll be emailing them and hope they honor the gesture!
