Veronica Fish & Oyster
Our 4th visit over the last 18 months and continues to decline. Visited for Sunday brunch. Hostess was very pleasant and seated us outside right away. Waiter was not good, mixed up our order and had to redo. Restaurant was not busy but waiter seemed to have a lot of trouble keeping up. Eggs benny had an unusually sharp hollandaise and the porchetta was extremely fat and uncooked. Not a good combo
Our server Chelsea was outstanding. She made up for the mistake made with my cocktail and the awful Brussels sprouts accompanying my delicious fish entree . Her recommended appetizers were great . We had a delicious red blend bottle of wine reasonably priced at )28! We would go back for sure!
Our son was in town for the weekend and we decided to go to Veronica’s. Got there 20 minutes late thinking we were 10 minutes early. No problem getting seated. The drinks we had were very good. The hush puppies on the starter menu were great. Not sure if it was the sauce or the hush puppy that was so good, but together they were wonderful. I had the Two Crab Fazzoletti. It was not what I expected. I did ask a lot of questions. One needs to because the description is lacking in clarity. I like to read a menu and know what I’m getting. What it was was king and blue crab, very little king, truffle, (I did not see any truffles. Was it an oil in the sauce?) with a few mushrooms maybe, and asparagus in a cream sauce. Hmm, not a good explanation in print. When there are so many questions to be asked, the explanations run together. The food was great. I would just like to see some menu clarity.
Great restaurant, wonderful food. Best oysters anywhere!
We enjoyed our visit to Veronica's --the food was very good, our table was in a corner so the noise was not too bad and the service was excellent. You can tell the staff is well trained which is great when you are taking friends to the restaurant for the first time.
This restaurant is classy and elegant, yet casual enough to drop in after golf! We've been here for brunch, lunch and dinner and have had the pleasure of the waitstaff company for delightful meals!
Had a fantastic time with our server, Brad! Best dishes were mussels and snapper.
The food was excellent. Oyster appetizer hit the right notes. Very high noise level at 7:00 pm on a Tuesday.
Our experience at Veronica's was really enjoyable. Our server, Alicia, was very knowledgeable. She guided us through from appetizers to dessert, all items we truly loved. We would recommend and return in the future. This is a great atmosphere for routine or special occasions.
Appetizers took forever to arrive. Had to inquire in their status twice. When food did arrive they were lukewarm. The main meal was also disappointing. Chicken cordon bleu was Luke warm and the sauce tasted sour. Red snapper was way too spicy. Overall disappointed
Enjoyed the evening
Casual, fun atmosphere with the freshest seafood well-prepared and served. We enjoyed eating at the bar and watching oysters being expertly shucked. Highly recommended!
Great bar atmosphere. The Lobster/spaghetti dish was excellent. The Redfish dish description sounded interesting, but it was presented under a pile of arugula. Fish was tasty but did not resemble any Redfish I’ve had. The fish dip was the best as well as the bread. We did not have any salads because all of the offerings were unusual, could imagine a traditional Caesar with Kale. Had Bread Pudding to finish things off....delish!!!
First time tried, will NOT be the last. Outstanding in every way, food, service, appearance, etc. I rate it 5 stars period!
I’m from Upstate New York and have had the opportunity to dine at Veronica’s a half dozen time over the past 2 years.
Every time it’s been an awesome experience. Bravo Veronica!
As always the dining is wonderful and our waiter, Patrick, was helpful cheerful and attentive!
The restaurant has a nice feel but the noise level was difficult . Not only is it full of hard surfaces but the background music was rather loud .
Food was good . Menu could use some simpler plates that are not intimidating to non frequent seafood eaters. As a result we wound up with 3 fish fries of 4 people . All meals were very good . Menu could use more clam shrimp or even lobster choices .
Service was attentive but not smothering . You feel special.
If you know seafood I suspect this would be on the top of the list.
Our server was very attentive and helpful.
Great food. Beautiful ambiance.
Chelsea was a great server. All suggestions were perfect. Oysters, hush puppies, grouper, fried chicken special and Shrimp, clam, scallop meals were all phenomenal. Same goes for bananas foster bread pudding and lemon meringue cheesecake. True 5/5 restaurant.
First time in Sarasota and for the first time at Veronica Fish and Oyster. The restaurant provided a fantastic experience for us, the food, the service and ambience were top class. Well worth a James Beard award. Would go back any time I am in Sarasota!
Great Food-something a little different than the traditional fish restaurant. Our waiter was excellent explaining the items on the menu. Well done!
Service and food were both excellent. Will continue to return to this place.
Overall great experience. Varied menu and all our dishes were excellent including red snapper, fish and chips, oysters, medallions and crab. Our server Parker was outstanding. Very knowledgible and helpful.
Veronica’s is a favourite of my wife and I. Typically frequenting at least every 2 weeks or so. The food is outstanding, the service exceptional from the management through the wait staff. Particular favourites is the redfish for the main and oysters for starters with the Greek Octopus salad in between. Dining at the bar or outside is always pleasant and a table by the window on the south side is our preference. The decor is very tasteful. I only wish that something could be done about the noise. At times, the roar is overwhelming and makes it very difficult to have a conversation across the table. Almost impossible if we are 4 or 6 people. Still my favourite restaurant in Sarasota/LBK.
Great service, excellent food but wrong music choice for such a quality restaurant
Food was great, large portions. Had to wait for Server to pick up bill, once paid, the male server did not even thank us for our 20% tip. A little extra kindness from Server would have made it a perfect dinner.
Everything was terrific - the menu choices, the food, the service (wish I remembered his name) and the "feel" of the place. We particularly liked the beet salad, tune poke, brussell sprouts and mushroom side dish. The fish dishes very excellent as well. I highly recommend this place for an occasion. Well done all around.
The service was impeccable. Bradley was our server. We had a reservation and were seated within seconds of entering the restaurant. Our waiter supplied water, house bread, and took our drink order in quick succession! The food was fresh, healthy and delicious. It was taco Tuesday and the special was delicious - also a great value as it comes with a side. We were celebrating my birthday and they brought out a cheesecake with a candle - it was lovely and the cheesecake was amazing!
Very nice, spacious, stylish, fresh space, with good atmosphere. Service was top level. Raw food delicious, esp crab cake. For main we got grouper and snapper, both slightly overcooked, which seems usual here. Overall very pleased and would def recommend.
WTF - no Anniversary acknowledgement ?????
This is an awesome place. Great food, and great service. Ample parking and great location. Love Veronica’s!
Food and service are superb!!! The atmosphere tops off the whole experience.
Excellent seafood, terrific and gracious service, nice ambience except it can be rather noisy.
Food amazing! Server (Patrick) amazing!! Would definitely go back!!
We started with the Portuguese Baked Oysters and, days later, my friends and I were still raving about them. The unique preparation had a savory kick that still let the buttery brine of the oysters be the star. The Steamed Black Mussels were amazing, too. They were plump, tender and bathing in a generous bowl of rich broth, perfect for sopping with the crostini. Next...the subtle Blue Crab Toast (with avocado) flavor profile was deliciously lifted by a nice and unexpected smear of ponzu sauce. All 3 paired well with an expertly mixed martini for a wonderful dining experience.
We’ll be back...but won’t likely order the Spicy Crab & Corn Hush Puppies. While pretty good, they were frankly disappointing by comparison...
We love the resturant. Our service was excellent. The food is amazing. Always fresh. We took people that where there for the first time and they loved it! It can be a bit noisy for conversing at times.
Food and service perfect as expected. Didn't much like the seat by the front widow watching the traffic lights.
Our first time in Sarasota and we had a great meal! Fried chicken was terrific! Nice crowd, friendly, efficient service.
