Veronica Fish & Oyster
Everyone's food was very salty and the menu needs a refresh.
Fabulous oysters and great entrees. Service by Adam was outstanding. Just a great experience all around.
Our first time at Veronica’s and we really enjoyed the variety of textures and flavors.Charbroiled oysters were good but we would prefer to have additional choices of cooked oysters- Rockefeller, stuffed, etc. Our favorite appetizer was the octopus Greek salad of thinly sliced tender octopus, sweet tomatoes, onions peppers and a tasty vinaigrette. The tuna sashimi was a good flavor combination , however it would have benefited from more watermelon to balance the spicy flavor of the Kim chi. I loved the Thai crispy fish and the lettuce, veg and sauce was to die for! Hubby had a tender filet mignon which he enjoyed. I had to ask for my birthday dessert, waiter seemed preoccupied with other things. Menu is impressive and we’ll be back to try other dishes.
I would like so see Less Greens on the fish entree. I want to
See what I’m eating not go thru Mr Mc Gregory vegetable garden. The other dishes were good.
Gourmet all the way. Large selection of oysters. Great service. Will definitely return.
Food and service were impeccable. They apply different ingredients to traditional seafood plates, that work wonders with your tastebuds. Each dish we had was delicious. Definitely worth a visit. We will be coming back next time we are in Sarasota!
We found Veronica’s a couple of years ago and have enjoyed our several visits since that time. Daniel takes care of us during the happy hours and does a great job. A little light on the happy hour menu, but the rum runners are to die for. Dinner was also very good - CB was excellent as our server. We had the grouper and medallions - both very tasteful. My only suggestion is that the look of the dinner plates is not impressive. Everything is blackened from the gold potatoes to broccoli to mushrooms to Brussels sprouts. It was good, but something green (vegetables), White (potatoes) or orange (carrots) would do wonders. Taste was good, but the presentation counts for something.
Another great meal at our “go to” spot in Sarasota. Fresh grouper prepared expertly, outstanding fresh oysters, and their incredible beet salad with goat cheese and we added shrimp this time👍
We feel spoiled that we can walk to the restaurant. Hard to beat.
The service was very good; some dishes were excellent and some I would not order again (black mussels with sausage was a miss and tasted fishy; the sashimi with kimchee and scallop ceviche was fantastic.) Overall great atmosphere and interesting cocktail menu.
Very friendly, knowledgeable service.
Recently dined there for a birthday celebration. Service was impeccable. The waiter gave recommendations and explained all options. Even asking the chef to prepare a side dish that wasn’t on the menu. Would return when in the area.
We enjoyed all the food. Greek octopus salad and Tuna sashimi with pressed watermelon and kimchi as appetizers and we shared a whole fried hogfish, Thai style.....it was fantastic. Our server, Sue, was awesome. It is a nice restaurant.
This place is the best! A hidden gem on Osprey Av behind the hospital. The menu is outstanding and each dish is prepared with careful attention. We can't recommend this enough! Shrimp and grits is out of this world and don't pass on the bananas foster bread pudding. Save room for sure!
The food and service are always top quality. We go once or twice a week
Fantastic food. Very fresh and tasty. Chris the waiter was very good
Food was excellent...server lovely! Order the rolls.
Fish not fresh at all. How can u screw up succotash. They did. I don’t know how they got a 4.5 on TripAdvisor.
We are so sorry you did not enjoy our succotash, as a newer menu item we are always exploring ways to improve We assure you, however, all of our fish is fresh and arrives daily to our chefs, we apologize if your dish was not to your liking, we appreciate the honest feedback and will pass it along to our chef team.
WoW - the chef is outstanding - I’ve dined in some of the finest restaurants in NYC and LA and this establishment is top notch- wonderful dishes all around
Thank you for taking the time to review Veronica, please join us again soon- we look forward to it!
Always a good choice - changes menu and has seasonal dishes. Charging for 4 small rolls is annoying and should be addressed. Great oysters and largely seafood based menu.
We enjoyed another great dinner. The oysters, redfish (our regular favorite) and salmon were all excellent.
Thank you Doreen! We look forward to hosting you again soon!
Veronica's is all around a great place. The ambiance is great, from seating and lighting and music to the location and those amazing windows all around.
The service was great we had Preston as our server and she was perfect, polite, informative, knowledgeable and very authentic and genuine. And every one else we engaged with was just great, respectful but not pretentious at all, very genuine.
The food was superb! We had the corn and avocado appetizer as well as Szechuan Shrimp and what a great combination of appetizers delicious with explosions of flavor and texture.
For dinner I had the Woodgrilled Lemon Fish Collar and my wife had the Panhandle Redfish. We both absolutely loved our plates, my wife's was a little lighter and mine was more like amazing comfort food with black eyed peas and collard greens. Just perfect!
Then to put the perfect topper on our dinner we had the Lemon Meringue Cheesecake and WOW.... it was just divine... best cheesecake ever! Highly recommend Verónicas!!
Thank you so much for taking the time to review Veronica, we appreciate the king words and look forward to hosting you again soon!
Great waiter and others. Couldn't have been better.
Thank you so much!
The best food and service. All was excellently prepared
Fantastic experience! Our sever Katie was the BEST!!! Highly recommend!
Our best meal while visiting Sarasota.
Amazing food. Flavors are fresh and unique. Portions are generous for such flare and flavor. Banana foster french toast.... nuff said!
There was nothing really poor, and nothing really good. The salmon special for Saturday was prepared well and the fish was cooked perfectly. The fish and chips were a fishing expedition as I piled the heavy batter coating on the side in search of el dorado. The highlight of the evening was a patron dressed up for the yacht club in a bright blue cotton dress covered in different colored ducks or some other type critter.yes she had the straw hat with a rather lengthy pinkish ribbon. High ceilings so stick to the perimeter seating. Oysters were on the small side but tasty.
Everything from A to Z was amazing!! Our waitress Parker was tentative but never made us feel rushed- we were celebrating a birthday. Every food item was delicious- wow!
My wife and I ate brunch. Great atmosphere, exceptional food and better than average service. We recommend the brunch experience and will return for a dinner experience.
We had the Red Fish, excellent.. smokey spicy taste. Plus the whole snapper, pricey, but very good.. with nice Thai accouterments. Plus the Brussels sprouts...yum!! Very upscale chill atmosphere, friendly waitstaff. They open the door for you when you enter and leave..nice touch. Been coming here since they opened, always good and consistent. Can't go wrong with Veronica's.
Thank you Kirk, we sincerely appreciate the kind words, it means a lot to us and we look forward to hosting you again soon!
We went back to Veronica's this year because it was so good last year. However, things were different this time.
The service was slow and our server didn't seem interested in whether things were good or bad. Maybe she knew the answer already.
The charred broccoli was overly charred, and tasted like smoke. The "slaw" that came with my fish was a few shredded vegetables with no discernible sauce at all. The portions were small, and the food was flavorless. I had to ask for some sauce for my fish, as nothing came with it.
On the plus side, my partner enjoyed his grouper. However, when he asked for a substitution of the side dish, the server said no and said he'd have to pay full price for it. These are the kinds of things diners remember. When we're paying for two entrees and wine, maybe consider making an exception.
This was a big disappointment. Veronica's, please re-evaluate things.
We are so sorry to hear of your negative experience with us, we are always making amendments to the menu and we are so sorry if some of our new items were not to your liking, we appreciative the honest feedback and will discuss with our chef team, as all of our items are chef crafted from scratch and made to order sometimes we are unfortunately not able to provide substitutions, however we will certainly discuss this and it is no excuse for a poor dining experience - our apologies.
The entire evening was special as we celebrated our anniversary. The service was outstanding and the food amazing! We had the fish dip to start - which was delicious and presented beautifully . We shared the whole fish Thai style that was fun and very well done! Thanks to everyone who made this a special evening! We will be back!
Thank you for celebrating such a special occasion with us!! We are so thrilled you enjoyed and look forward to seeing you again soon
This was about my 4th time eating here. Usually I get the special but this time our table had the redfish and the shrimp, scallop pasta. Both dishes were recommended by our waiter and they were excellent. Each time I have brought out of town guests who all say it is the best place I bring them to.
Everything was great!
Fresh fish perfectly prepared
The service was good, friendly wait staff. Octopus salad was lacking imagination and content and the fish and chip portion was to small and the fish was mainly batter.
Charming service from Kitsren, great food and a lovely atmosphere
One of the better of the locally owned restaurants by the Caragiulos in Sarasota. It has a large, varied menu but one with a limited selection of fish. Most on offer are the same found elsewhere. The main attraction is the raw bar and shell fish choices and a large part of the site is occupied by counter seating. Even so, the table service is a more reliable strong point than the food which can range from very good to barely edible. Recently, the crispy whole fish compared well with a memorable version of the dish at Wolfang Puck's in LA. On the other hand, the pasta seafood special was so salty it was desicating. Stay within the range of Veronica's capability you can enjoy a reasonable priced meal.
The mussels as an appetizer was excellent.. the very best we have ever had. Nice addition of the toasted bread was great for sopping up the delicious broth. I ordered the short rib hamburger....arrived as two separate patties with the cheese in the middle.......tasty but not rare the way I prefer, server said it can not be served rare???????? My companion had the grouper sandwich.......light, moist and very good.
Spring rolls were 17 and one of the 5 pieces almost empty. Our other dishes were delucious.
