Verbena is a restaurant and bar located in the heart of West 6th Street occupying the street side ground level of the award-winning Canopy by Hilton Hotel. The venue is comprised of a 36-seat bar and lounge, a 60-seat dining room with open kitchen, and wood-burning hearth, both which open to a lush open-air courtyard. Journey through Chef Paolo's gastronomic narrative where he pays homage to his contemporary Mexican roots. Had a very relaxing brunch in the courtyard patio. The breakfast tacos were delicious, the cinnamon roll is to die for, and the Lil Gem salad is a lovely spin on the classic Caesar. It's a beautiful space with friendly staff. The cocktails are fantastic - I will definitely be back!

The blueberry/goat cheese flar bread pizza appetizer was delicious. They were out of the tenderloin grill menue option and offered a substitute of Wagu 12 ounce strip, what we got was a tough, grissled flank steak. Unbelievable. On the bright side, one of the best margaritas I've ever had.

Due to a vendor shortage, we had to substitute the Beef Tenderloin with a Wagyu strip, which clearly did not meet your expectations. We would have loved to address this immediately if you had let us know at the time. We're glad you enjoyed the blueberry/goat cheese flatbread and our margarita. Amazing experience with a large group. The food far surpassed our expectations and the small open kitchen was delightful. The service was nothing short of outstanding as our server really made us feel special. We were celebrating a wedding and after asking what our first dance song would be, they played it over the loudspeaker when they brought us dessert. We will definitely be back! Also the New York strip is incredible and a really good deal to split between 2 people!

The most amazing Mexico City cuisine in Austin! My coworkers and I cannot stop talking about how delicious the food was. You can taste in every bite the amount of dedication and love the chef and kitchen put into the dishes. It was very hard for me to decide in what I wanted to eat because I wanted everything. I still dream of the charred octopus and the lamb barbacoa, which have a very unique and exquisite flavor. My fave appetizer was the quesadillas which I literally could eat every day. We live in Dallas and it’s been a week since we went to visit and I am already missing this place so much. Can't wait to come back and try more things on the menu. The atmosphere and ambiance are perfect for business meals. Highly recommended.

The staff at Verbena was wonderful and very kind. We were celebrating an anniversary and the staff made us feel very special. There were not a lot of people when we ate, so it was very quiet! The food was great. The scallops are fantastic. Overall, we had a great experience.

Sad to see this formerly great restaurant end up like this. Maybe 3 other tables in use at 7:30 on a Friday, and the food gives a clue as to why. On the positive side, the Rosemary’s Baby Daddy cocktail was an excellent and original take on the mezcal cocktails you now see everywhere in town. And the pork-infused bean dip was delicious. Beyond that, the dos moles chicken was decent; the scallops not nearly interesting enough for a $45 entree; the glazed carrots a jumbled, overcooked, oddly flavored mess; and the prosciutto flatbread drowning in tzatziki sauce a bad idea that never should have made it past the chef’s first tasting. Even the spiced chocolate cake ruined its good flavor with a texture as dry as particle board. The change in exec chefs and hard turn to a Mexican menu certainly looks like a major mistake based on our previous visits compared to this most recent experience. Austin has way too many excellent options at this higher price point for this to survive in its current form. Hope the hotel will find a restaurant worthy of this gorgeous space.
