We came for the Wednesday night date night special. The options offered were great however the food was extremely salty. 2 hours later and a lot of water and I still taste salt.
We also had the coupon for 2 free glasses of champagne valued at $48. I don’t know who would actually pay that much for a drink that tasted like sparking apple juice.
Overall it was a good price for the amount of food but I don’t think I’d go back.
Steak Frites and crab legs were amazing albeit pricey.
I loved Venteux! My friends and I went for bottomless and the waiter was great about checking in and giving refills. The cafe area is what is the cutest, but the dining area is almost as instagrammable. I ordered the French toast and it was very good- not something to order if you don’t have a sweet tooth though. Overall, I had a great time and would definitely come back.
We had a great time at brunch! Our server was very attentive and the food was delicious! We also loved the overall vibe. I will be back!
This place is not worth it. The menu is really small and everything is overpriced. Also, the portions are for a toddler. Very disappointing
Took my sister in law out for her birthday and we both enjoyed the food and drinks. The mussels we good with a slightly spicy like sauce. The scallops as so good with the black truffle sauce. Lastly they had a nice little twist to the crème brûlée that felt different but was delicious. Such a nice experience.
Steak and frites and oysters …amazing. Service…amazing!! Cozy and chic ambiance
My $30 pasta which was about 2 table spoons of awkward tasting noodle of yuckiness and a side of fraekan cold slices of vegetables in a bitter cold vinaigrette dressing was absolutely a negative 5 stars!!!!!! It was disgusting. I cant believe a human created this dish.
2 bites of hot noodles with a side of repulsive cold sliced vegetables.
Just disgusting all together.
Fries, on the other hand were amazing.
Fresh, hot crispy. That was my $71 lunch. A handful of fries and a diet. COke for $71.
(My daughter enjoyed her croissant egg and cheese sandwich minus the bacon minus the avocado.)
Overrated, very comfortable seating.
Gorg restirant and café.
$25 deposit made it impossible to reschedule our reservation which was BSh to me!!!
Forced me deposit for a seat- restaurant was 1/2 empty.
Cafe was open as well.....
Covid cards required to dine-in.... like Hawaii- I love this safety procedure!!!!!
Venteux is fantastic. Good wine list, the food is exquisite (the oysters, the caviar, the scallops, the French onion soup)... and the service is impeccable. My date and I loved our dinner experience. We're now making plans for their brunch. I highly recommend it.
nice experience we got date night menu best value ever seing in chicago
food was excellent 4 course menu
and de creme de la creme is all wine list 1/2 price
Service and the atmosphere were both good but the food just didn’t match up.
Service was slow to start, didn’t seem to notice us until we asked for assistance. Once we received service it was fairly standard. Although, we did receive 20% off the entire meal for the slow start.
The ambience is just too beautiful and servers are great.
Our server was very polite, had great suggestions, and the food was amazing, and came out much quicker than anticipated.
For a “wow” evening, make sure to visit Ventaux! (Plus $1 oysters for appetizers doesn’t hurt)
Great place for happy hour. Cocktails are on point, and the food is delicious. Great date spot for drinks.
Absolutely great food, drinks, and service in a great location in chicago.
Great brunch experience overall and beautiful space. Taking off one start because our waiter wasn’t wearing his mask properly.
Had a reservation for 10:00 PM, arrived around that time but our table wasn’t ready. We were not seated at our table until 10:50 PM. We had to wait almost an hour for our reservation time. When seated we were not being served, and I had to ask if our table has a server. The food arrived cold and was honestly lackluster given the price. Overall a very disappointing experience. Will not be going back.
New Years Eve - Pri-Fix menu… the food was good but everything came out lukewarm… it was timed all over the place. Some things were quick others took FOREVER. The service was fine if you were at a casual spot - not when expecting service to meet the price… the cocktail was batched and warm and was simply poured over a large cube and not even shaken or stirred to chill it. The dinner took almost 3 hrs and everything was prepped which makes no sense for how not so busy it was... One plate would come out wilted after sitting under the heat lamp while the other was fresh and hot. Luckily we brought our own champagne; that was the most reliable part of the meal. We wanted to love the place but unfortunately it was not as you’d expect for a Pendry property and for a $500 dinner- more like chain restaurant quality overall.
Unfortunately this was the case for West Hollywood too. Maybe it’s a new property thing. Maybe it’s a covid thing. We’ll hope that’s the reason!
From the moment we were seated it took 25 minutes for someone to come over and take our order. The five course dining experience took a little over 2 hours and was not worth the amount they charge for it. You are better off getting seated at the bar and trying something from their actual menu. They also had a large menu of alcoholic beverages that you can enjoy from.
Most disappointing meal we’ve had in Chicago. Unfortunately not a great experience for the end of the year.
French cuisine prepared and served without a class.
The price of the dinner does not match the quality of the food. Almost raw duck, lettuce of iceberg sprinkled with cheese. Not a New Year’s dinner at all.
We came for a New Years dinner with friends. Although the first course took a bit longer than expected to arrive, our waiter was extremely accommodating and personable. He really made the experience and we all ended up drinking champagne with the rest of the patrons at midnight. Great experience, and definitely worth the money.
Best New Year Eve dinner ever. Our server is friendly and knows about every dishes presented to us.
My daughter and I wanted to try this so were delighted when we found it was open on Christmas Day. She had a hamburger with truffle fries and I had the avocado toast with a poached egg. We were both very happy though she thought her order of "rare" was closer to medium than to rare. Our server was totally delightful and explained the dishes and ingredients very well.
Courses were rushed, completely missed our first course, held our main entree and tried to force it back on us to eat while we were eating our first course once it arrived. Just was not great, food was horribly cold. Server was very nice - restaurant manager needs training on service execution.
Terrible service, comparable to fast food chain. Food was very good/excellent (some dishes are inspired, others as expected but delicious). Main servers chat too much with some tables and ignore service to others (all show, no work). Reserved table took 40 minutes to get ready, no apologies from front-of-the-house. Servers pay no attention, need to ask them the same things multiple times. When nudged that they forget an order or to bring drinks they act as if you never asked. Food has potential to earn Michelin star eventually (desserts were particularly weak, especially the one with rye on the name - severely over-smoked, parfait wrong consistency and a bit flavorless) but almost everyone working outside the kitchen will make sure that never happens. Usually don't mind poor service when food is good but for at this level, Chicago offers much better experience with at least as good food.
The service, ambiance and cocktails were lovely! My expectations were of a french style of cooking or french inpaired. The food was well prepared, but the flavor combinations weren’t my taste. The escargot was not the french style of snails in butter and garic, but a creative rendition with dough and dill. It may be someone else’s cup of tea, but these dishes are much more of a fusion situation.
Great service and knowledgeability of menu by staff and nice wine list!
Our waitress was rather odd and rude. She was not very attentive nor helpful. I understand it was slightly busy but she did not seem to want to talk to us. She does not seem to want to work in customer service. I felt unwelcome. But I loved the food and ambiance. I’d love to return. Just not to her.
When my husband and I got to the restaurant, the valet turned us away, saying the parking garage was full and they had no spots left. This has never happened to me in my entire life of living in Chicago, so I was pretty confused and stressed out. I let the hostess know that we had to find alternative parking and would be right back. She was kind and understanding and told us not worry, they would hold our table. The manager was very sweet and gave us directions to another parking garage (Millenium parking, in case you need it) which worked out great. Once we were actually able sit down, my husband was a bit annoyed with the situation and I was stressed out, but our server Shane was so welcoming, fun, and friendly. He recommended great drinks and made us laugh. A good server can really make your whole experience. The food was delicious, definitely recommend the tartar and the smoked chocolate mousse for dessert. We loved this place and will definitely be back. Thank you so much to everyone who works there for making what could have been a really frustrating situation into a lovely evening.
An exceptionally fine dining experience, and I've been coming downtown for 30 years. Every course tender & moist, and so savory! Melt in your mouth from appetizer to dessert. Exceptional cocktail.
One of the best meals I’ve ever had, matched with excellent service! The duck and waffles was outstanding! We will definitely be returning!
I had brunch with my colleague at the dinning room. My eggs Benedict were fantastic, one of the eggs slightly undercooked but in general they were great, the yeasted hollandaise was very interesting.
My colleague had the eggs 5ways, I think her dish was way smaller than mine, it looked like it was missing a side, especially compared with my dish that came with salad and potatoes.
We wanted to have a pastry at the end of the meal and we were told we had to go and order at the bakery, I think that was very odd and annoying, it’s not that we were asking for pastries at a weird time or that the restaurant didn’t make pastries.
It was my first time here. I enjoyed every moment. The food, wait staff, and ambiance was lovely.
Good food great service will recommend we’re celebrating our anniversary was great experience
The steak frites, at 3 different temps for the table, were perfectly executed. The smoked rye dessert was beautiful and nicely done. Everything else was sub-par. The escargot was odd. Massive piece of brioche in the center and escargot was an afterthought. The grilled gem salad was barely grilled and the dressing, supposedly an anchovy emulsion, tasted more like grainy tahini. The lobster dish was so heavily seasoned that the flavor of the lobster was completely lost. Coffees were warm and service was painful.
This was my second time dining at Venteaux. The first time I dined here everything from the service, to the drinks, to the food, and the timing of it all was superb. I came back a second time with a different friend, as I had raved about this place. Unfortunately our experience fell far short of our expectations. We ordered two appetizers, both of which came out long before we ever received the cocktails we ordered right as we sat down. When we asked our waitress if we could still expect our drinks, she disappeared and came back and explained that she had to make our drinks herself. The food was also not the same quality as before. Our appetizers came out so fast, and one (eggs five ways) was barely warm. Mains were fine, but not the home run they had been during my first time dining here. Dessert was an exception - it was truly exceptional and was recommended by our waitress who seemed to know the menu well.
At the end of the meal, I felt like the service and food quality was just a bit all over the place, which was disappointing for a restaurant at this price point. I will probably dine here again because my experience the first time was so good, and I am truly hoping this was just an off night for Venteaux.
We made brunch reservations for 2 on a Sunday at 12:45, and were seated immediately, and our food (which was amazing) seemed to come within 10 minutes of ordering- in my opinion that's impressive in pre-covid times. I don't go out to eat often (as of these last two years), and Venteux was the perfect treat!
Food was great. Service was terrible. Our server was borderline rude, food took quite a while to be ready. When making the reservation I let the restaurant know it was a birthday celebration, and I asked twice that they bring a dessert with a candle. They did not. The whole time we just had a feeling we were being rushed out.
