   We had a lovely dinner at Vain in Versailles. The owner is charming and the food was delicious. We shared the vegan options and I would highly recommend them. Even the wine menu had clearly labeled vegan options. The restaurant is entirely gluten-free so it made it so relaxing to take my sister. I didn’t know it’s a sister restaurant to Vanitea, which is another restaurant I enjoy. The menu has lots of non-vegan options too. I would 10 out of 10 recommend and I will be returning too.

   From the moment we arrived, we received attentive, prompt and friendly service. We ordered the cheese board and the polenta cricket yes for appetizers. Both were well presented and so tasty! Amazing array of flavours. For mains we had the stuffed chicken, duck confit and lamb. All were perfectly seasoned and done to perfection. Desserts included the mango citrus crème brûlée and chocolate eclairs. Very delicious and generous portions! We also sampled the many cocktails- very creative combinations! Overall, an unforgettable experience! And everything on the menu is gluten free. For someone with celiac disease, it was so refreshing to have every single item to choose from!

   Vain in Versailles Gluten Free Gem We visited Vain in Versailles for a Birthday lunch and were pleasantly surprised. The food was flavorful, fresh, and completely gluten free, which is a huge plus. The waitress/owner was warm and attentive, making the whole experience even better. If I had to point out one downside, it would be the wait time for the food. We came back to try the dinner menu and while it was still good, we could see why some reviews mention it being a bit under seasoned. Personally, I didn’t mind it, I enjoyed the subtle flavours but if you’re someone who prefers bold, punchy seasoning, it might feel a little light. Still, it’s a solid option for a gluten free meal.

   Went on a Saturday at 5pm; party of 4. There was only one other party of two in the restaurant at that time. TL;DR: Overall we are adding this to our list of go-to Ottawa restaurants when we want delicious bistro food that is intentional with their gluten-free awareness and accommodations. Food Our entrées were excellent. We ordered the gnocchi, zucchini steak, lamb, and stuffed chicken. Everything was delicious, well executed, and visually appealing. The chicken dish listed a croissant component in the menu, but we couldn't discern it on the plate. Not sure if it was missed, or if it was in an unexpected and unrecognizable form. The desserts were a lovely way to finish the meal, although as a whole, that experience didn't quite live up to the standard of our main course. One of the desserts was described as a cross between a crème brûlée and a tiramisu, but it wasn't really either of those things. Although with the bit of caramelized sugar on top, it was closer to a brûlée. There was no reference to a tiramisu whatsoever. That said, it was so yummy. The dough of the pâte à choux bites was over baked and hard to bite/cut with a fork, which made the eating challenging. Ambience We were seated next to the speaker which made comfortable conversation a bit challenging, but the server very kindly lowered the music when requested. Service The server was pleasant and helpful, if perhaps(?) new. Given that there were only two tables seated, I was a little surprised that it was an hour between being seated and being served our mains. Fortunately we weren't in a rush, and I can appreciate the time and care taken in the preparation and presentation of the dishes.

   My first time visiting this restaurant. The ambiance is very cute and whimsical. Tables are set beautifully and the addition of the book to hold menus was very cute. The servers were kind and passionate. The overall experience was disappointing. After our mocktail which was not very impressive, we were never asked for another drink, we always needed to take the initiative. My friend wanted another mocktail, and was denied bc they ran out of an ingredient ( there were only two other tables dining at that time). The apppetizer was over hyped. Pictures online did not in the slightest resemble their presentation. The appetizer was good. We waited an hour and 45 mins to receive that appetizer and a humongous order of bread. We were exhausted by the time we received our meals. I ordered the chicken and the side was almost cold. It was good but not overly impressive. Nice to see a gluten free restaurant in Ottawa, but will not return. Some fine tuning needed for dining service.

   C’est un endroit unique à Ottawa. <3 Un ensemble de petites attention vraiment admirable. Une excellente expérience chez Versailles. Le service était extraordinaire, merci Hind et Taran. Tout y est bien exécuté et délicieux. C’est une belle occasion de déguster des vins très bien choisis. La table est simple et très goûteuse. Rien de compliqué. On y retourne avec plaisir. À bientôt Versailles.

   Excellent service, plats raffinés et savoureux ! Les tables sont bien espacées les unes des autres et le niveau sonore est faible ce qui très appréciable.
