The waitress was nice, however the service was slow. Slow to great us, slow to get us our drinks, slow to take our order, slow to get to go boxes. We were a party of two seated at the smallest table and after we boxed our food up nobody took our plates so we sat at the table finishing our drinks with dirty plates. The chairs are very low compared to the table. The food was amazing. When the waitress gave us the bill, there was no thank you good bye, nothing from her. There was an extra tax added to the bill "to provide an excellent work place " so I just incorporated that into the tip. I'm not sure I would recommend this restaurant. There's lots of great restaurants out there with great food, Especially with a bill of $75 for 2 for brunch...
The mushroom risotto is to die for. They grow their own mushrooms and it shows.
Food exceeded expectations and environment was contemporary/neat. Not a typical steak house.
My meal, the 8 ounce tenderloin was very good! The Mac - N - Cheese was excellent and I loved the chop salad. I tasted my wife's King Salmon. Not good. Very Fishy tasting. I would have sent it back if it was my meal, but she does not like this kind of attention. She did not come close to finishing her meal. I also feel like the $30 corkage fee is over the top. Truth is, if I am going to spend that kind of money, I want a fantastic experience. I will not be back because it is expensive and The Urban Farmer did not deliver the overall experience as the other high end steak houses in town.
Excellent steak, we shared the “sampler” platter and various sides. Their corn bread is phenomenal. Wine list is extensive and our waiter picked us an excellent one for less than 80 bucks. Service Superb, no complaints. Easily worth a return visit.
The food was excellent and the service was too. If I could remember the name of our waiter I'd definitely mention him as he was amazing.
AMAZING, I’m from out of town and we came here for brunch. Cool atmosphere, great food, and down to earth staff. Highly recommend!
Weekend in Portland. Always want to try new restaurants. Great food. Ted was an amazing waiter. I had scallops and my son had bone in rib eye. You won’t be disappointed.
I took my husband here to celebrate his 30th birthday and it was a truely great experience. The server was very informative and helpful for us deciding what to order. I recommend the steak sampler (30 day aged is to die for) and the baked macaroni and cheese side dish.
I absolutely love the elegant modern atmosphere and the exquisite dishes!
Warm and attentive service. Expertly prepared and delicious dishes.
We live in Denver and the Urban Farmer in Denver is our favorite restaurant and we wanted to share the experience with family in Portland. It was as phenomenal as the Denver restaurant. Also thank you for the birthday candle.
Very good food and service. Fantastic selection of scotch and whiskey. Downside is a limited menu
Our group of six went for brunch before holiday shopping. The food and coffee were spectacular. Delicious donuts, pancakes and cheesy grits. And our server was attentive and friendly. We had a question about the jars on the shelves nearby and the chef came out to not only explain but let us taste (it was Nasturtium vinegar).
Wow, this place blew me away! I love how this is in the open courtyard center space with natural lighting for brunch. Being a part of the hotel, it is very casual right than uptight. The service is excellent and super friendly. Their flat iron steak skillet with sausage gravy is simply brilliant, capped off with their house made English muffin. The cast iron skillet pancake with the Asian pear worked so well I didn't even need the maple syrup! This is easily one of my best experiences in my various trips to Portland that I can remember! I'm already planning to come back for Happy Hour!
Great dinner! We all had steaks of various type and all were cook correctly, served with great timing and service. Sides and salads were excellent, as well as the cocktails. I wouldn’t change a thing about the whole evening.
It took 45 minutes to get our starters, 4 salads and there was a french frie in one of them! The meat was okay but they give a very small portion with no sides for a ridiculous price. This restaurant is a joke!
The food was good but very expensive. Basically a Thanksgiving Dinner with a fixed price of $65. However my son ordered a Beef tenderloin so they charged us $65 plus $18 for the steak or a total of $83 for just a 8 oz steak! Total bill with one single glass of Rose for $245 inclusive of tip for 3 people. Seems very high! Have been to Urban Farmer for four Thanksgiving dinners but won’t do a fifth.
We went for Thanksgiving dinner and it was fabulous. Entrees were a generous size, the typical Thanksgiving sides were amazing and dessert was to die for. Specialty drinks were delicious! We are going to make the Urban Farmer a Thanksgiving tradition.
Thanksgiving was simply lovely.
Thank you for creating a great memory.
Arrived for Thanksgiving dinner only to find that 5 out of the entree items were sold out. Waiter was hopeless. His only claim to service was opening the wine and pouring it. Rushed us through the menu.
The speaker above our table was loud. Asked the waiter to turn it down. He did not. Had to find the host to accommodate this request. The food was served erratically with some of our guests receiving their plates whilst other had to wait up to ten minutes to be served.
Spoke to the manager who was gracious and accommodating.
Have dined several times at URBAN FARMER. Do not expect to return after our dining experience.
we’ve dined here a number of times & have never been disappointed. despite an initial mishap on the part of a hostess & it being a very busy thanksgiving, the staff did everything possible to make the evening perfect! fantastic meal & great experience. thank you!
Perfect service. Loved our server! The food was magnificent. This was our first Thanksgiving Dinner out in 32 years. Urban Farmer was the best choice.
Our meal was better than expected! Thank you Matt!
Don't go near this place!
Unless you want a wonderful lunch. We had the egg appetizer was great, but could use a little more of the house made bacon which was wonderful. We had the chicken sandwich and that too was wonderful. It is messy, but certainly worth the mess. We also had a bourbon cocktail which was wonderful.
The service was impeccable (thanks Laura). The only downside to the experience was that we didn't know it was in a hotel (our problem) and we had difficulty parking at noon.
Anniversary date went splendidly.
Service was excellent. Steaks were over cooked and tough. Sides were blah. Not memorable yet still very expensive.
Some of the comfort food stand-bys have disappeared from the menu, and the selection is disappointingly small. They used to have a great pot roast -- but it's long gone, in favor of some new combinations that leave many diners puzzled. The chef seems inordinately fond of strange combinations of various ingredients, unrecognizable as anything that might appeal to an average palate. I settled for a hamburger on my last visit, and bit into a very hard piece of gristle or bone fragment -- I didn't want to take a closer look. It's a beautiful room, in a building that many Portlanders cherish and would like to support. But I expect most of the customers are guests in the hotel; it does not draw a "downtown worker" crowd, and understandably so.
The waitstaff were attentive. The food wasn’t so good. The mixed greens with grilled chicken had very little flavor. The chestnut soup was a huge disappointment - no spicing. Maybe the chef had an off day but I’ve never had soup or salad that tasteless.
My partner and I, went to Urban Farmers for his
Birthday dinner. We enjoyed the atmosphere, the food was delicious, friendly Staff, and Ana I g cocktails. Highly recommend to try. Will definitely become regulars.
Our server was very few and far between us and other tables. He only brought us drinks and nothing else. It took 80 min after being seated for our meal to arrive. We even waited 20min for our dishes to be cleared and our check to be taken. For such an expensive meal, better service was expected. It was not a great birthday celebration experience. I wouldn't go back.
The server was very disengaged from the experience and while we were wrapping up he reminded us that the table was reserved in 15 minutes in a very abrupt manner. With it only being 5pm and the restaurant was very empty, it felt very rude for him to brush us away. Not impressed.
Went for our anniversary. We love Urban Farmer. Service is always great, non-intrusive but attentive. Food was amazing without a doubt, as it always is. Ambiance is perfect, quiet and comfortable with a great atmosphere in the open atrium of the Nines hotel. Love it. Can be causal or dressed up.
As always, The Urban Farmer was a delight for a recent dinner. This was a celebration meal. We enjoyed cocktails and great wine, foie gras and charcuterie and then ate family style, sharing bits of steak, scallops, ahi tuna as well as fabulous side dishes from mac and cheese to local wild mushrooms and charred carrots with romanesco -- my favorite! Great attentive service and well worth the price for a splurge meal!
Food was marginal, my hamburger was overcooked, really too pricy for what you get.
Our server, Casey, was knowledgeable, pleasant and professional!
Food was just okay, desert was very good. Unfortunately the service was terrible. For what we anticipated would be a nice restaurant we did not expect such poor service. At one point you could hear the servers being loud, having fun, and ignoring customers.
Cool experience. The service is really good. The food quality was average at best translating to over priced. Again, cool place good people and average food. Would be hard for me to come here again for that price.
Had a weekday evening dinner with a date. Server took forever to come back, had to ask another one. When first server came back, NO apologies for delay. Ordered fancy wagyu NY steak, didn't quite taste and look like the wagyu I have been getting, maybe it was a different cut. I understand US quality is not the same as Australian or even Kobe from Japan, but this was a little bit disappointing. Some issues with our drink selection also. Overall, place looked nice, but not as upscale as I thought based on the fact they had a dress code. Likely won't go back, too many better options out there.
Breakfast was excellent as always. My friend and I split the ham Benedict and cast iron pear pancakes which were both fantastic. The Bloody Mary bar does not disappoint. The ambience is perfect for a relaxed, beautiful dining experience. I’ll be back.
The quality of the meat was poor and it was under cooked. Had to send it back 2x. Uncharacteristic, but will affect our interest in coming back.
