Great quality food in a hip atmosphere. Would def come again
Always the best quality best service and best ambience
Kobe cubes over cooked. Sushi not fresh or cold. Really not good food.
Food is excellent, Taylor was fantastic and she provided several recommendations that alleviated our overall experience.
I wanted a place to impress a client, and I just love the ambiance at this place. Having 2 levels makes the place feel like a "see and be seen" hot spot. Oh yes... and the sushi is the bomb-diggity.
So happy so finally see this place open after renovation. Perhaps we ordered the wrong sushi’s bc we were not pleased at all. Last thing we ordered was bronzini , a very tasteful and exquisite fish. Sadly, the meat was BARELY there and it was drenched with soy sauce in the arugula. They had a fried catfish before they closed and I’m upset the bronzini didn’t make the cut. Service was extremely lagged and delayed, I know they have better days. But the bronzini was the biggest let down .
Food was good, as always, service was slow and server was disinterested even go the order wrong.
I guess Monday lunchtime isn’t a good time.
Love Uptown...so glad it is back. The food is a good as ever!
THE BEST sushi in Houston.
Great food, great service. My favorite sushi in town hands down!
One of our first date nights with our 1 month old. They accommodated us and sat us at a table that was easy to put a stroller next to.
Well you can always tell how good a restaurant is by their worst reviews, in this case service. I had a reservation and was promptly seated. Its memorial day so theres only 5 tables seated, the place is virtually empty. After I was sat, no one came to start an order or explain the menu, hell just even acknowledge my existence. After 5-10 mins someone gave me water, no waiter. After 20min a white family were sat and the waiter immediately ran to the table, started their drink order and talked about the menu. At that point I saw that my money wasn't welcomed here and left.
Sushi was delicious... fresh! Great atmosphere and excellent , attentive customer service. We will be back!
Taylor the server was extremely sweet. food was EXCELLENT!!! only issue was we ordered the hot rocks and the meat was very thick and chewy and i usually like to cook mine rare but it was too chewy to eat rare
Yummy food and great service. Love the energetic atmosphere.
Very slow service.
Best sushi in Houston!
The nigiri was not the best quality for the prices they charge. The foie was dry and overcooked. The uni had gone bad and did not taste right. I would not come here for nigiri at all.
Lots more families now with update. Doesn’t feel as special for some reason. Food is still good but not amazing.
The Sushi has improved. The decor is mediocre at best and it is more family oriented and not date night
dining. The open space provides noise and it is not for fine dining .
Fantastic! After a mediocre last outing there, service, and more importantly, food were top-notch this night. Off-menu items were prepared properly, and the custom roll we ordered was perfectly made. One star knocked off service because our server removed my friend's lychee martini before she was completely done with it. Other than that hiccup, everything was perfect.
Uptown Sushi is a beautiful space. The Signature Nigiri I tried far eclipsed the rest of the meal. The rolls were average. The sashimi was disappointing. The Uni was clearly not fresh and they completely forgot to put the White Tuna on the plate. The service was absent at best.
There has been a management change along with menu changes. Was my worst experience by far!
There new decor has been very well done. The sushi was well prepared and beautifully presented. The only negative was that they were out of most of their sake choices that night.
Digging the new vibe and decor. Not sure why the haters need to hate. They spruced up the menu a tad, but retained lot's of time-honored favorites (e.g., L&J Loya Special, Godzilla Roll).
The noise level was energetic, but didn't prohibit conversation. Really glad it's back up and running.
Nice ambiance, sushi was good. We’ll be back.
We have been to Uptown Sushi before, but not sense the renovations. The place looks great and the food is still outstanding as well.
The new Uptown Sushi doesn’t disappoint. I always thought it was a great restaurant even before the restoration. It still maintains its high standards.
Dating anniversary. The staff was extremely friendly and help us with our celebration. Fantastic food and staff.
Delicious and so fun. Loved the renovations!
Everything was delicious and very flavorful. ..it exceeded my expectations.
The venue is nice and comfortable, the service is attentive and helpful with menu suggestions. The food is a little pretentious yet it has a certain elegance that allows it to pass the filters un scathed. Prices are way up there, food for two and wine at $350 with tip is in the very high side of my scale.
If you have any allergies this place is not safe. I’ve been there 3 times since the remodel and told the server I had a shellfish allergy and on two occasions two different servers brought my food out and while I was eating it came back and told me that the food had shellfish in it. I was really excited about the reopening but the staff they have now has no clue what they are doing and it’s dangerous.
Best sushi in Houston, great service and amazing environment
Love the new look. Food and service were exceptional
This was the first time I’ve ever been disappointed with Uptown Sushi. We went right after they reopened and everything was perfect. But tonight was a disaster. Our server, though eager and pleasant, just didn’t understand the menu and what we wanted to order. I still don’t have an answer, even after speaking with a manager, whether our gindara appetizer was changed in preparation or if it was a mistake in the kitchen. My first hint was when the server asked if we wanted it grilled or fried. Um no it comes broiled. What we got was something completely different, very dry, and requiring a knife and fork (usually picked apart with chopsticks). The rest of the food was mostly fine, though the server forgot our order of wasabi tobiko. Luckily the manager stopped by just we were wondering what was going on, and he removed the gindara from the check and went to get the wasabi tobiko. Unfortunately, he brought it out in a different presentation that we’d never seen in 15 years of dining there. So back it went and finally we got the wasabi tobiko nigiri. I have no idea why it was so difficult to get menu items we’d ordered for 15 years and as recently as a month ago. Not a great dinner.
Love the new vibe at Uptown. Some major issues have been resolved with the remodel and the best sushi restaurant in town is back and better than ever. Try the old school eel or salmon skin roll made by Jaime. Jaycee was our server and really was amazing.
I have been going to uptown sushi since 2006 at least twice a month. It is one of my favorite sushi places.
This is my second time i go after the new renovations and re-opening. the first time after the opening i went was for dinner and food was amazing.
My last visit was at lunch time and i was quite disappointed with the taste of the food.
Other than the side salad everything lacked the taste i am accustomed to.
I am hoping this was just an off day .
