Upstairs at Pier 38 is inspired by the rich history of Pier 38, where you can enjoy locally caught seafood sourced from the renowned Honolulu Fish Auction, along with USDA Prime Steak. Our Culinary Team collaborates with Chef Nico Chaize to add their own creative touch to the menu, creating French-inspired, island cuisine.

    Upstairs at Pier 38 was a great choice for my boyfriend's birthday and would be great for any special occasion. The restaurant is beautiful in a tucked away area out of the crowded tourist areas of Honolulu. The place was quiet and had ambience. The food was very tasty with fresh fish and steaks; however, it was quite pricey.

    On our arrival, we had a beverage at the bar to wait for our table. The 2 bartenders were very polite and quick. Sutherland took care of us once we got to our table. He was attentive but unobtrusive, pleasant, informative, and kindly generous. Everything we drank and ate was excellent in quality, balanced flavor, presentation and portion. When we finished dinner, I complimented the bartenders on signature cocktails I'd tried during my earlier visits, then they and Sutherland politely explained their cocktail program using locally sourced and scratch-made ingredients (and gave us a preview sample of their newest cocktail). Heading to the stairs after the restaurant closed, the staff waved and thanked us. Upstairs at Pier 38 confirmed it's my choice for a delicious meal prepared with restraint using local ingredients, with a heaping main dish of aloha. Mahalo, chef Nico Chaize and his team for (once again) an elegant but relaxed, fine dining experience!

    When I made the booking on Open Table I asked for a window seat but was not given one. I thought the window seats were all booked but there were some empty ones when we left so we could have been seated at one. I had a visitor from the mainland and wanted them to have a nice view of the water but didn't happen. Oh well.

    The appetizers were good and came out quickly. The escargot might have been too old as they were too soft. The lobster bisque needed more lobster. The octopus was a little too firm. It took way too long for the main entrees. Steaks were prepared correctly. Peppercorn sauce was good but not great. The sides were good and cooked right. The fresh fish was Opa and had a harsh ginger sauce. The fish did seem fresh. The sea bass seemed to be over cooked a bit but the sauce was good. For the price point it needs better quality food.

    Aloha & Big Mahalo to servers, food , and location. It never disappoint me when I always come there the only I request for Upstair hope they have another location to Waikiki area where I can bring freinds,clients and many more visit to great places to enjoy & dine

    I took my friends from Japan and we LOVED it there! Everything we had was so delicious and the staff were appropriately friendly. I will definitely visit again.

    Wonderful setting, easy Pier 38 parking, beautiful interiors, friendly and professional service, and yummy food! Everyone that waited on us were absolutely so very nice and friendly. Some of our favorites were the Angry Ahi Tartar with crisp won ton chips, Truffle Fries, Miso Yaki Sea Bass, and the Ribeye Steak served pupu style. The rest of our drinks, appetizers, soup, salad, and entrees were really delicious too, but these stood out over and above!!!😍❤️❤️❤️

    We had a great experience at Upstairs at Pier 38 celebrating my mother’s 80th birthday. We were seated right away for our 5pm reservations. Overlooking the water, we had great service with multiple people bringing our dishes for a party of 9. Each dish was delicious and generous in portion size. I would highly recommend this restaurant for those who want to experience great food, great service, in a spacious setting with a nice aquatic backdrop.
