The al fresco rooftop setting, coupled with an interior featuring large picture windows, boasts spectacular vistas that transform throughout the day as the vivid blue skies transform into magnificent sunsets and starry nights. UP on the Roof’s unique aesthetic juxtaposes the natural beauty of the Reedy River and the Blue Ridge Mountains with an industrial chic décor and contemporary seating areas designed with the panoramic views in mind.
Located on the 8th floor of the Embassy Suites at RiverPlace, guests may conveniently access UP on the Roof via the elevators in the hotel lobby.

From north carolina, in town for the day. We made a reservation online but opted to sit on the left side of the restaurant where it was "first come first serve" as drinks and food by the rooftop fire pit sounded lovely.
Our server was friendly and very accomodating when we asked to move inside (it was quite windy and chilly outside). The music that particular evening was quite dreadful and didn't match the feel you get from the menu and the ambiance of the restaurant.
The first drink i had was (im assuming) a premade cocktail called Strawberry Thyme, and it was served to me in a mini bottle. Although a different way to present it which i kinda liked, it wasn't the most tasty. I love thyme and ive always loved a st germaine and gin combo, especially with thyme....but the flavors were so diluted and flat in execution of it. There was barely any thyme flavor (maybe implement a stronger thyme simple syrup?), i could get just a small tiny hint of the st. Germaine...which typically if youre drinking something with st. Germaine, you KNOW you're drinking something with st. Germaine.
I mostly tasted a strawberry puree with nothing else to it. For 12 bucks....not my favorite.
We ordered 3 entrées and loved 2 out of the 3. The porkbelly, which from what our server told us was prepared by a steaming process, was soOOooOo dry!! Which was truly unfortunate bc the sweet potato hash underneathe was AMAZING.
The drunken mussels were fantastic as was the fried baby octopus.
It wasnt the worst experience, but wasnt that memorable at the same time. Maybe if we had sat on the right side of the restaurant, it wouldve been a different experience.

This restaurant was fabulous! We visited Greenville for the weekend and ate here twice! Both times were excellent. We had the strawberry thyme bottled cocktail made with fresh juices. We ordered the chicken lettuce wraps, oyster basket, burger, nachos and all were dressed up to top notch dining experience. None like no other- the chef here must be amazing. This food was off the chart and tasted unique-none can compare. Thank you for a wonderful dining experience. Oh! And the view is gorgeous along with super staff! You have to experience this restaurant. Can’t wait to visit again!

I ordered the rabbit taco and it was soooo over powered by vinegar and mustang i couldn't eat it. I didn't complain bc the waiter was super nice but I won't be getting that any more.

Usually a great experience. This time cold food, seated everyone on one side of room with the other empty ( with reservations) ? Bloody Mary with zero condiments (13 bucks). Felt a little like restaurant had New Years Eve hangover... we’ll go back, we love it... but this time was an off day.

Food and service was great. However, covid restrictions were not taken seriously, so we did not feel safe.

We had 6 in our party. Ate a variety of items. Nothing was great. Bill was over $170. One person in our party had 1 drink. It was nothing I'd recommend nor revisit.

The food was very good. The "fried" brussels sprouts are to die for. The service was good. All the waiters were friendly and kind. This restaurant accommodates both types of going out to eaters- inside is definitely quieter and more relaxed, where outside is louder and a bit more "hyper." I would absolutely go back to this restaurant.

Our reservation was for 12/26/2020 at 6:00 pm. This wasn’t my first visit so I know it could get better. We arrived and we had to wait for the 3 hostesses to get finished with whatever was on their phones. We were seated which was fine except the table wobbled really bad. We were seated at another table and that table was no different. So we let it go. The appetizer was ok but our dinner was not so. My husband had the Caesar salad with oysters and I had the oyster basket. I can honestly say my birthday dinner was a waste.

My 7:30 pm reservation was seated shortly after 8. While waiting at that bar, I ended up ordering food explaining I was waiting to be seated in the restaurant. When I was notified that my table was ready there was confusion over the payment. I am waiting to see if I was billed twice as it was a charge on my hotel bill.
The seat I was given SUCKED, especially after hurrying to make my reservation and given no apology or incentive for waiting over 30 minutes. Would they have waited that long for me?
I was seated almost in the kitchen. I was a solo diner and all staff had to ease by me from kitchen to dining area. The location was loud and very uncomfortable.
Suffice it to say I did NOT return even though I had planned to do so and had wanted to try some of their other entrees.

Went on Christmas Day and everyone working was so nice and really made it special-
Didn’t get the feeling they would rather be somewhere else on that day. The Grinch even made an appearance and took pics with our kids. We are definitely going back there for Christmas dinner next year!

Up on the Roof is a must go to restaurant in downtown Greenville! We went for a birthday and we’re in awe of the decor, ambiance and food selections along with drink assortment. The staff was friendly and attentive yet seating was a little too close for social distancing indoors. The outdoor space was nicely heated so that could have been a better choice. Overall everything was expected, yet on the pricey side for families. I’d suggest this for couples and small groups of adults.

They could have done better with social distancing. We decided to forgo our inside table (reservation made 1 month in advance) and sit outside ( in the cold) rather than the insanity that was inside the dining room. This was strange since the hotel had very strict protocols which we appreciated.

Ambiance was great inside. Great energy. Hostess expected us to push the tables together and shift chairs around on our own outside and just walked away. Had my handicap father with me and I have a slipped disk in my back. Not a great first impression. We ended up eating inside and it was great atmosphere. Food was great, service horrible! Husband’s fish came out raw. Asked to have it cooked more and guess we were forgotten about for 30 mins. Only saw our waiter a total of 2-3 times during duration of meal. Waited a long time for waiter to take our credit card to pay for meal. Needs to train wait staff a bit more to be attentive to their tables and customers

The food was amazing. We had the steak quesadilla, the tataki tuna, and the fried chicken lettuce wraps. We also loved the holiday themed cocktails, and the interior decorations made for a very cute dining spot.

We had a reservation and still waited 25 minutes for 2 high chairs for our planned Brunch and Santa visit. Very bad planning on the Management to only have 2 high chairs for children when they had to know that families with toddlers would be coming to the event. My burger was burnt but still had a good flavor. The waitress did not offer to have the kitchen staff cook me another one.

I wish I could give more stars for the service and the ambience. Our server was Hannah J and she just really put our experience over the top! Threw food was exquisite and the presentation was beautiful. This was our first visit to Up on the Roof, but we are already planning our next visit. It's nice they are open for business during the holidays.

Not kid friendly. Was denied a different table because I didn’t reserve a specific table. It was never an option when I reserved a table. They completely messed up my mom’s 50the bday and didn’t even sing for her. Plenty of better places to visit than this dump who’s waitresses don’t even know what they have available or not to eat.

Our server was very pleasant and attentive. We sat outside and enjoyed the ambiance although I must note that the tables were closer together than I would have expected in a pandemic situation. My daughter said the brussels sprouts were very good. My wreckfish was good although I didn't like the acidity of the chutney with it, but that is personal preference. We both also got the maple glazed roasted root vegetables which were a disappointment as they were cold, overly sweet and undercooked.
