Connecting the family and the farm back to the restaurant dinner table. The goal of the restaurant is to really connect the food of the African diaspora to Appalachia and tell the story of that. Enjoy the atmosphere around the lunch counter with our open kitchen dining experience and watch the amazing Chefs. Enjoy the Montrose Garden patio with a firepit and night lights and music, looking for a more private area revel in our covered porch with wicker bistro seating. Montrose Garden is dog friendly.

A truly remarkable culinary experience. Staff friendly, inviting and accommodating. Really cool to watch our food being prepared. The cornbread was as memorable a treat as I’ve had in a long, long time. We will without question be back to try the rest of the menu!

The small plates we were able to order were very good, however, they were out of a many items on the large plate options. What was intended to be a celebration dinner became celebration appetizers. We truly enjoyed the items that were available. The crab beignets were packed with crab and cooked perfectly, and the oysters on the half shell were excellent. Sadly, the service negated the pleasure of the food. The staff was overwhelmed and it showed. We were approached twice, with plates of food meant for other customers, while we waited a confusingly long time for both our drinks and our small plates. In summary…the food is great, but there are some kinks to be ironed out in their service.

Brunch is a treat at Union 41. Hard to go wrong with the best oysters in town and Grandma’s hot sauce. Steak, eggs, pancakes, chicken, and fish. Toss in a mimosa (or two) and let the fun happen. Ask for Leslie’s Corner when making your reservations and you get the best seat in the house to watch the show.

This was my 5th time eating here. The first 4 times was with a large group. This time was for date night, so just two of us. It was a great experience sitting at the counter and watching the chefs cook. The food was excellent! The drinks are always very good. I definitely recommend Union 41.

Although the restaurant didn’t seem terribly busy, we waited an inordinate amount of time for our drinks and food. Our appetizer and one entree were delivered - with another entree delivered about 15 minutes later and the third entree (a pizza) delivered after the other two of us had finished eating and our plates removed.

Union 41: Where you need a reservation to feel like you’re a dining at a bougie Waffle House, but without the charm or consistency. My husband ordered oxtail Ramen, the only reason we went there, only to be told, right at the start of the dinner rush that they were out of oxtails. So we were told that they can make it with the jerk chicken so I said I’ll try that. The waitress brought our food out and he magically received oxtails ramen. He opened the bowl only to have it snatched back by the waitress saying it wasn’t his!! AFTER he opened it! They took his opened bowl to another customer. Yuck! He waited for his second choice jerk chicken Ramen, while I dined solo. It arrived with a whole leg quarter just chilling in the bowl placed on top of the ramen. Because who doesn’t love, carving poultry in a soup bowl. And this was a 30$ bowl of soup after all. We were highly disappointed!! One and done for us. Not worth the hype!

Wonderful experience celebrating our anniversary. The cornbread appetizer was AMAZING! The steak was perfectly cooked and so flavorful.
