Created by a fisherman as a tribute to his mentors and heroes, Uncle’s Fish Market & Grill at Pier38 is the first of our two location opened since 2006 and located at 1135 N. Nimitz Hwy, Honolulu. Uncle’s Fish Market & Grill uses the freshest fish from Hawaiian waters to produce an unpretentious seafood experience based in classic European and Asian cuisines. Fresh, Local and Authentic—that’s Uncle’s.
Shrimp & Chips
Four fresh giant white gulf shrimp seasoned, panko breading and deep-fried. Served with French fries and a side of house made coleslaw
New England Seafood Chowder
Made daily with fresh fish & shellfish in a rich New England style with crackers
Calamari Center-Cut Steak
Ten slices. Deep fried and served over cabbage with cocktail or tartar sauce
Unfortunately the seafood did not taste fresh. The grilled fish was rubbery and the scallops tasted old. They had the “old refrigerator “ taste. Maybe because there’s been a drop in patrons so the seafood is not turned over fast enough. Last year the seafood was fine.
Service was great. Waters were filled up promptly and not a long wait for food. The seafood chowder was very good but the fish and chips were overcooked and dried out. My son had the shrimp and chips they were also chewy and dry.
Fabulous for a casual dinner with local food items. Our server Kat was very friendly and attentive. She suggested "Uncle's Tower" as an appetizer - with fresh fish and poke' which was wonderful. Beautiful presentation on all entree's. Fish is fresh with several catch's of the day available. Meals for 3 people with shareable .appetizer totaled $120.
We asked for some bread while we drank...………….she told us we could buy one garlic bread or three pieces. It was weird, my friend really wanted a pupu, but there is nothing if someone does not eat poke/calamari. We ended up with buying chips and an order of salsa , that had celantra which I do not like. The fish was a bit dry. I was so disappointed for $140!
The seafood appetizers were very good. The NY steak was dry and not very well seasoned with anything flavorful. The lobster tail was also pretty small. I guess I expected more for a $62 dinner.
We had a very enjoyable experience from the quality of the food to the service. The Roasted Beet Salad is great and the fish so fresh and well prepared. Katherine, our server, was outstanding being knowledgeable, friendly and attentive.
We had an amazing waitress who made our day! Good food and quiet enough for good conversation!
Recommendation from a friend and it was a great choice for our last evening in Honolulu
Great ahi nachos with chunks of fresh ahi. Nice laid back late lunch on the way to the airport.
Quality of the fish was fantastic. Would definitely go again.
food was delicious. salad came with no goat cheese but server was apologetic. not sure if it was the server or that she wasn't well-informed. overall though still great good
Very good fish and poke was excellent !
All as usual
Fish tacos were my choice, not much flavor, the drink was a lychee tini it was very refreshing, would order it again🌸 over all I would give this a 8 out of 10
Service was friendly and fast. Food was fresh and delicious. Noise level in the restaurant made it difficulty to converse at the table and the glare from the windows was hard on the eyes.
We have eaten at Uncle’s every trip to Oahu! Love the food, service and ambiance. Can’t wait for our next visit!
Great place to go to on pier 38. Upbeat, good service, and a nice menu.
Excellent place to meet with potential clients, especially those that have spent some time in the Islands.
Unlce's is a great place to meet up with friends and family. We like to bring our friends who are visiting Hawai'i because the fish is so fresh! We've always had great service. I tried the Beyond Burger this time and OH MY...so good! Of course I had it fully loaded with the bacon & avocado. I'm longing to go back already for another!
It was just “ok”. We were just in Honolulu for one night, so I was hoping for a really good seafood dinner. My husband said that his crab cake “ was good, but not as good as yours!”. But he ate it all. I had a salad with a snowcrab/mayo mixture on top. It was just so-so. Our waiter was warm and friendly.
Great spot after 1 pm on any day for a late lunch!
I feel it’s my duty as a healthcare professional to report this incident. From the time we walked in, the hostess went behind her station and sneezed several times without using hand sanitizer the entire time we were there. We saw her touch the menus, touch another customer’s phone and then she brought my drink over. I refused to drink that drink, and was hoping our actual server, would have brought my drink over. I love the food at Uncle’s and the chefs did a magnificent job, along with our server. With the influx of viruses approaching us, we’re already skeptical about eating out at restaurants, and this particular situation has made it even worse when debating if I should eat out or not. I advise all servers/host/hostesses to be joined at the hip with hand sanitizer.
Uncles is one of our go to places. Our server was great! I normally get the Ahi Belly with award winning spicy garlic sauce. But, this time I wanted to try something different. So I asked him what he recommended...and he said the special curry opakapaka. NO REGRETS! It was amazing! He said it's special item and not readily available. So happy! I will definitely be back for more!
as always, a great experience. Brought our friends, they lived it too.
It was Valentine's Day, so we thought we thought we made a good decision by avoiding Waikiki and the more popular places, but service here was below average. Staff avoided eye contact, as we sat for 15-20 min before anyone even acknowledged us at the table with water or menus. Once our server was there, however, she was very nice. The seafood chowder was delicious, but COLD. The special dinner entree was over-priced for the portion size and the asparagus that was served included the tough fibrous ends that were inedible. The miso butterfish was not cooked well - they had gotten the order wrong and seemed to have rushed in the preparation. In the end, we regretted going out for Valentine's Day.
perfect place to have a dinner for special events. good food, excellent and quick service. worth recommending to friends and relatives. thank you.
We were very pleased.
Although it had been about a year since I had been there, it was great to see that it is still a 5-Star restaurant. Since our lunch reservation was at 12:30, we knew it would be a bit more loud than our usual walk-in at 2:00. Everything was great!
The food was great as always. We brought people from the mainland to lunch and they loved everything!
Above average as usual. Much better than Nico’s and Jico’s Upstairs, by far!!!!!
Fresh fish hard to beat. 3 of us had fish. Cajun blackened ahi for me (not on the menu but when I told the waitress I wanted blackened ahi, she said they could do that for me!) Fresh Mahi in the fish and chips and ahi belly with a wonderful sauce - all terrific. Service was good although it took a while to get our entrees. The decor is fun with great photos of long liners. There is no view of anything and it gets a bit noisey. Overall, we will go again and recommend it!
The entrees came out before the appetizers. Only half the appetizers came to the table. Servers were very nice. Food was very good. There was a family with 3 small children that yelled through ther entire visit.
Have eaten here in the past and thoroughly enjoyed it. However, tonight was a bad experience. Ordered the grilled fresh ono. It was way over cooked (dry and chewy) so I returned it. By the time I got the second meal my wife was done eating. The vegetables were also cold. Thoroughly disappointing meal. The entree should have been taken off the bill as an inconvenience, but was not. I won’t go back anytime soon.
great food, service, and atmosphere.
good location, ample parking.
