Uncle Julio's - Brentwood
Uncle Julio’s menu also includes Tex-Mex classics such as tacos, enchiladas & tamales all with a selection of sauces made daily. Insider tip: order the tableside guacamole. It’s prepared for you at your table; if you like it spicy kick it up a notch with fresh chopped jalapenos.
Uncle Julio’s has a vast drink selection. Try our fresh margarita of the day, made to order with fresh fruit. If you prefer a frozen drink then the Swirl is definitely the perfect choice. The Swirl is frozen sangria & frozen margarita layered together dating back to 1987.
For reservations, please allow up to 15 minutes for us to prepare your table.

Delicious food but order was put in wrong so we had a bit of a wait for half of our group. Server was kind and attentive but not as informed about menu ( or putting orders in) as she needed to be. It was a special occasion with dear friends that live in another state.
It is a wonderful venue for acouples outing! Pax, our waiter was very attentiive.
We arrived prior to our reservation and checked in, we were given a buzzer and were told that we would be notified when our table was ready. We waited and waited and noticed people coming in off the street without reservations were being seated so we asked when we would be given a table and were told at our reservation time. Yes we were early but if they had tables available why not seat us? Nope, we were made to wait until exactly our reservation time; it was poor customer service and the girl seating people almost took pride in the little amount power she had, pathetic.
Pros: Great food, decent prices, great service!
Cons: Hard to walk in between tables/get around, hostesses could be more friendly and accommodating, need more indoor waiting area considering the wait times.
We were there at lunch. The food was mostly good, but the fish tacos weren't as good as usual. One piece of fish was tough, and there was way too much cabbage and I couldn't find the avocado crema. The prices have gone up noticeably.
Used Opentable for reservations - noted we would like a table outside since we are celebrating a bday. We checked in and hostess told us no outside tables were available. I mentioned the note i put in opentable and hostess said ‘sometimes we see the notes, sometimes we don’t. Huh? As we were taken to the very back of the restaurant to the booth against the back wall we saw empty tables outside. Hmmmm. We were sat. Then we sat and sat and sat until I finally asked an employee if someone was going to help us. Yes. He said he will get our waiter with salsa chips and water. Cool. So we waited and waited. Then Mario (Super) came - apologized and took extra care of us the rest of the night. Guacamole ok. Margarita good. Had crunchy taco plate. Ok. Rice ok. I mean all was ok. Since it was our friends bday we got the chocolate piñata. Fun and super delicious. Overall - it was ‘good’.
Everything about Uncle Julio is amazing!! The Guacamole is delicious!!
Our server and our food was great.
The only thing I didn’t enjoy was having to swipe my own card at the end of the meal. It did not allow us to itemize our split checks and it interrupted our conversation at the end of the meal. It’s the same reason I don’t like self check out in the grocery store.
The food was absolutely amazing!! My server was very attentive. The ambiance was terrific. I will visit again.
After hearing rave reviews, it was finally time to try Uncle Julio's. We were seated right near the kitchen, so we were able to see all the action, even got to watch as the tortillas were made. The decor is very nice, rustic and intimate. Service was good. The noise level made conversation a little challenging, but ok. But we ultimately came for the food and I simply was not wowed. The chips were thin and crispy, but completely lacking in salt. I ordered the chicken fajita cobb salad and substituted steak. The steak was fantastic, the salad was ok, but the avocado on the salad was not ripe at all. For a restaurant famous for their tableside guacamole, I was stunned that they would have put an unripe avocado on my salad. And beware, there are spicy peppers in this salad, little red ones that will set your mouth on fire.
We had a nice dinner, but as far as I'm concerned, I can check this one off my list. Not worth the drive or cost.
Great service and fabulous food. The Chocolate Piñata was AMAZING!! So happy we went, and we’ll be back.
The atmosphere was great, the food was amazing but our waitress was less than attentive. She was to busy chating it up and on her cell phone. She never came back after we ordered our food beside to bring us a check. We never received our small guacamole for appetizer, or refills on water. I asked the gentleman that brought our food for more chips and salsa but we never received that either.
The chips, salsa, & yellow quest are the best out of anywhere! The house margaritas are also uniquely great. My 2 complaints would be the portions are too small for the price & I felt as though our server was rushing us through dinner.
I had Dinner couple nights ago with my sisters took the waiter over 30 minutes to bring us our waters we ordered . Then some random person brought us waters 30min later and said here is some waters for you guys while Yall wait for your food which we already ordered water. Never took the time to refill our drinks! We had to ask! Never checked up on us! Then let us sit there for 30 min trying to track him down to get the bill. So we asked the manager if could get our bill then it took him 15min to get. The worst experience I have ever had here. Probably will never go back not worth the money.
The food was not good. Our server only came back once after we were finished eating and out of drinks. This is our third time here and each time it has went down hill. We will not be back.
Made reservations for my 15 year old's birthday (she's been dreaming about the chocolate pinata for over a year)! We were seated immediately, but then had to wait almost 20 mins for drink orders. The service was beyond slow for a half empty restaurant on a Tues night.
We ordered tableside guac, then were brought out a side dish of pre-made instead. The tortilla chips were dripping with grease. The children's "fajitas" consisted of 2 small strips of chicken and a huge glop of refried beans, no veggies, no tortillas. The food was incredibly overpriced and honestly unimpressive. The adult fajitas were tasty, but the meat was cut in huge slices, completely impractical for fajita/tortilla presentation. The shrimp tacos had unappetizing and flavorless strips of papaya or something. My dad's mango margarita was delicious, and the chocolate pinata was neat, but not worth $30!
Side note, our table, chairs and selves continuously slipped around on the floor - which was incredibly slippery and seemed covered in a layer of grease or something. Even our server agreed that the floors were crazy slippery.
We had been looking forward to trying this restaurant for over a year. Incredibly disappointed and won't be returning.
This has quickly become our favorite spot for date night. HIGHLY recommend making a reservation through Open Table because this place gets packed on Friday and Saturday nights. Great drinks, great food, table-side guacamole is always fun. HOOKED on the chicken fajita cobb!
We enjoyed fish tacos, chicken fajita. I really like the salsa with the thin chips (ate too many). Good service
Birthday piñata was perfect
Really fun!!! Delicious food and great atmosphere!!!
I love it every time I go! The food is always delicious and the atmosphere is fun and vibrant.
We have eaten several times at Uncle Julio's since they opened and have found it to be one of the best and most consistently good Mexican restaurants in the area, even if it is a chain. The only issue on this visit was that our server was very polite but seemed more focused on getting tables cleaned than paying attention to us. We had a second order of margarita's that came after we had basically finished our food and the gap between the two drinks was uncalled for as the restaurant was half empty. We eat out often and the difference in good service is usually because of good management emphasizing the focus on the customer. It seemed that since it was later in the night, the server's were focused on getting the tables clear and ready so that they could leave quickly as opposed to focusing on the remaining customers.
The service was AWFUL. Couldn’t hear the waiter. He kept disappearing! Was no concerned with us at all.
Kept telling us to give him a few minutes and he’ll be back. His name was Dante or Santiago .
I am a pick eater, and restaurant food isn't always quite my taste. The food was amazing!!! I was thinking about it for two days afterwards. Great Job!!!
Our first time, fresh food and home made tortillas. Everything was great, nice variety on the menu. Our server, was new, and did an outstanding job. The table side guacamole was fun to watch.
We waited 20 minutes for someone to take our order.
My Acapulco Shrimp Salad was excellent! The citru vinaigrette was nice and light! Perfect salad for a hot day!
We were first time visitors to Uncle Julios and staying at a hotel closeby. We had the tableside Guac that was fantastic. All our entrees were delicious and we topped it off with the incredible chocolate piñata. Believe me, if you go with at least 4 people you need to leave space for this dessert. It is an actual chocolate piñata stuffed with mini churros and small empanadas with chocolate inside. There’s chocolate sauce, caramel, strawberries, whipped cream...... Incredible!
We ate here for my birthday. I noticed that my favorite dish was no longer on the menu. The manager and our server worked to make sure it was available to me on my birthday, which I appreciated so much!
I would like to have my small ditch when I order the guacamole table . Most of the time we have to wait for the small dish to start eat our chips and salsa/guacamole.
The table side guacamole is the best and so are the chicken fajitas!
Always delicious! Friendly, attentive staff. Fresh ingredients. Fabulous margaritas! Fresh guacamole made to your specifications, at your table.
Great place for excellent Mexican food at moderate prices.
Very disappointed. Previously eaten in the Uncle Julio’s in Naperville, outside Chicago and it was a great experience. Service, atmosphere and food all excellent. Brentwood location, big disappointment 😢. It was so noisy you couldn’t have a conversation, we felt like we were eating in the middle of a cafeteria. Our pushed together tables were lopsided and we lost drinks several times due to that. Food was average at best and overpriced fir what it was. Overall, very disappointing experience
The service was excellent and the food was delicious as usual.
Yummy food but pretty pricey for the quantity of food you get. Disappointed I paid $25 for a meal for me and there were no leftovers or anything.
This is our new favorite Mexican restaurant. The fajitas are excellent. The restaurant has been busy every time we’ve been there, which is a good sign.
The entire table was obsessed with their entrees. Consistently great, we love the Aztecs Fajita. Chocolate piñata was fun for desert and so much food!
It was good.
Poor service and hard to hear others even at same table
