    Gorgeous area. Definitely order the bruchetta- the fig and apricot complimented each other perfectly. The tartare was good but not as great as I was hoping for- a little inconsistent with one area of it being more salted and dressed than the rest. The clam ravioli was also a bit over salted. However it was overall an amazing experience and my friend and I will definitely come back.

    Beautiful “under the sea” ambiance. We didn’t have time for dinner as heading to theatre but sampled a few appetizers, tapas and specialty drinks. Did not disappoint. Very nice that all the dishes had tasty vegetable garnishes and all choices selected were delicious . Staff very friendly and made us very comfortable. Recommended to many friends and yes we will return. Thank you

    Thought the appetizers were outstanding. The risotto was not good - definitely not the Italian rice we are used to. Not creamy. Beet salad was delicious. Service very good. We went early so it was not crowded, but the music was too loud and the selection was not good.

    Ula’s is a relatively new restaurant where Farallon’s was and it looks like they simply took off where the previous restaurant was, which is the best part of our experience. The prices are high and the portions just OK. Although they are the sister to Zingari’s, their food production is unfortunate. The salads we had were drenched in sour/bitter vinegar/oil dressing and basically inedible. Although we mentioned it to the waiter, no compensation was made. My wife’s filet mignon was properly cooked, but the wine reduction sauce was overpowering and my carbonara, which used full-sized spaghetti was mostly tasteless. Maybe they will get together, but as for now they are trying to be a foodie restaurant without the good tasting food. Also be aware that their online menu does not match the one in the restaurant.

    We had dinner with a large group, the food was ok specially compared to the quality and price. The wine list is extensive, tasty, but has its price (90-150 and up per bottle). It was pretty quiet for a Sunday evening (3-4 tables occupied). We booked for 18 persons but ended up with 12 in the end. Pretty unpleasant surprise that we needed to pay for 18 servings and service. The group menu cost $110,- per person and the food is picked from the a la carte menu (So no specials or anything). After a lot of discussion, the issue was resolved. But still it stood out that they were willing to charge us 1000+ dollar and even calculated the tip (25%) for guests that we’re not even able to show up in the end, so which they did not needed to accommodate (No food nor service them).

    Excellent tapas dishes, professional and personable staff, great ambiance that’s quiet enough for an actual conversation. We’d never been to Ula before, we heard about it from friends, and we’ll certainly return.

    The wait staff was friendly and attentive. My filet minon was perfectly prepared. My wife had a tasty dish with crab cakes topped with Scallops and shrimp. Nice wine list.

    Glad they kept the Faralon vibe. The food was good but expensive. What underwhelmed me was the service; our waitress was completely out of it. We constantly had to repeat what we needed / what we ordered, she didn’t seem to know the menu, and when she brought our drinks, she incorrectly identified which drinks were which (they looked similar but were different). They took our knives away between courses but didn’t replace them. When I asked for two knives they brought one. The restaurant was also quite warm and infiltrated with the food smells from the kitchen - smelled great but it gets tiring sitting in it.

    The service was confusing - we couldn't tell who are waiter was. Cocktails before dinner came out at the same time as the food. We had to ask multiple people working there for our glasses of wine, which came out near the end of our meal. The food was quite good. The decor is beautiful. I might recommend this restaurant to a friend with the above caveats.

    Ula has a unique beautiful setting that invites everyone to relax and enjoy their meal. That alone is worth a visit, but we food the food to be excellent, the kitchen executed well on each dish that we had and the timing of the service was spot on. Its not inexpensive, but then no restaurant in SF is inexpensive. For what you get, a visit is a good value.

    This was a little disappointing. It was the first time we've been back since Farralon closed. The decor is the same and it probably works against the current incarnation because it just doesn't compare. The menu is interesting, but the food is uninspired. The salad was not very fresh, and somewhat wilted. The cioppino was a generous portion for one, but in SF (the birthplace of this wonderful dish), flavor needs to be top notch and it was bland. We wish them well and are grateful they maintained the extra-ordinary interior. Hopefully the food will improve.

    My husband and I went to Ula to celebrate our 34th anniversary. It was wonderful. The restaurant is beautiful, the food delicious and the service excellent. I had the salmon entree and my husband had the pasta with seafood. We didn't realize the bread was extra and feel it should have been included with the meal. He made the mistake of getting bottled water and found out it was $10. The drinks were also very expensive. However, we would definitely go to Ula again especially for the special occasion.

    We had a lovely dinner at Ula before seeing A Chorus Line at SF Playhouse next door. We were with our college-bound Parisian granddaughter who is very specific about her beloved French food - and she loved everything! Our waiter Alex helped make our experience really memorable. The restaurant itself is beautiful and has a fascinating history. We had such a nice time that we returned after the show for Crème Brûlée - we all recommend Ula, staff, ambiance, food, and drinks most highly!!!

    Ula did not disappoint❣️ Appetizer and cocktails, at the bar, while waiting for friends, was the perfect start to the delectable dinner that followed. Kudos to the owner of Zingari for keeping the atmosphere of the nostalgic Farallon alive. A must visit for those appreciating an eclectic menu, delish food beautiful presentation and accomplished wait staff.

    Outstanding dining experience for our party of 5! Every dish was superb. The service was flawless. Our server, Bruce, was a gem. And of course, the natutical space was an experience in itself. A perfect special-occasion destination.

    The olives, bread service, mozzarella bruschetta and garden salad were very good. I was disappointed in the paella though. It lacked flavor and the meats were dry. The service was very good and the ambiance is amazing, such a nice looking restaurant. I would come here again but try something other than the paella. Looks like they have a happy hour and late night happy hour and live music sometimes. I think I will try to go for one of those occasions next.

    We had a delicious dinner at Ula last night. We shared a beet salad and a risotto. For us a full portion would have been too much food. The sea creature ambiance, left over from its previous incarnation as Farallon, is pretty trippy and quite fun. Our waiter (Bruce) was professional, helpful, and very personable. He was also mindful of the fact that we had an early show to go to, so he made sure that the service would be timely. Unfortunately the show was cancelled at the last minute, but we’re going to see it next week and we are looking forward to another delicious meal at Ula’s before the show.

    Food was excellent…every course. We had a 730 reservation for our anniversary and asked to spread out the meal, but felt rushed as they seem to want us out by 9. Great ambience except for the techno type music. They did change it though when we asked.

    Amazing restaurant! Especially convenient when seeing a show at the SF Playhouse. Food was spectacular and staff (Alex👍👍) was top notch. Iconic building with an amazing decor. We tried everything on the menu and were never once disappointed. I would recommend to anyone visiting Union Square. A hidden Gem worth checking out. Hats off to the chef! Bon Apetit.
