   Ula was expensive, in my opinion. It was also the best cooked food and best service I have experienced in San Francisco, hands down. Absolutely worth the value in every sense. Felt really taken care of there by professionals at all times. 10/10

   Beautiful room, excellent service. The lobster bisque was a bit too salty. No special (small) fork provided with mussels, making them a little hard to dog out of shells. Mandatory 20% tip should be disclosed in advance.

   Our waiter was so amazing! The ambience is spectacular with jellyfish and shell decor. The food was equally as amazing as the service. We went for my birthday and they made it very special. We will definitely be going back and recommending it to friends.

   Outstanding restaurant environment (replaced Farallon). Food served only warm. Appetizer came after entree. slow service even though large staff and few customers midday. Restaurant open from lunch through dinner. Canned music too loud. Unlikely to return.

   Saturday night.. sat in the lounge area downstairs. Nice touch with the live music. Our server was nice but very inexperienced and gratuity was automatically included so it is what it is. The appetizer and entrée portions we’re actually much larger then we initially anticipated which was great. And the entrees were delicious. But you pay for it… bread service was just generic cold whatever bread and normal cocktails come in at almost $20 each without a lot of effort for presentation (limoncello cocktail is just in a small wine glass with a lemon wedge for $18. At least throw it in a martini glass with a proper twist or do a rim around the glass to give it some style especially when you wait 20 min for it) Lastly the manager was nice and came by to check on us. So first impression is… Cool atmosphere/good food Nice staff (but inexperienced) Approachable pleasant manager -You do feel ripped off for the drinks/bread -easily got to $300 for 2 people

    Unfortunately, my girl and I didn’t have a great experience. Nice ambiance, but the service was slow, one waitress mislead us to where we could sit when another said we could, the old fashion was watered down, and the live music was pretty bad. It’s a shame because the place was cool looking, but we wont be back.

    My daughter went with 10 friends for her 16th birthday. There was no one else eating there and they were upset my daughter wanted to switch where her table was. After reluctantly moving them, they discussed her loudly amongst themselves. The server was very nice but the gossiping amongst the people working there really deflated the experience for her. I was disappointed and upset to pay $400+ to have my daughter insulted on her sweet 16.

    Made a reservation for my sisters birthday, they were very accommodating. The service was excellent! Food was amazing and ambiance is exceptional! They also had live music near the bar area. I recommend this place for date night, special occasions, honestly I would even just stop by this place for a cocktail at the bar. This is my 3rd time back & definitely looking forward to my next visit

    Service was exceptional - staff was attentive but not overly so. Food was great! I had the sole and my wife the arrabbiata tagliatelle with scallops; great balance of flavors. We went on a Sunday night while attending a medical conference during the day. Just busy enough. The front of the restaurant was a bit loud but the back was perfect for conversation. It is definitely a "do again."

    Ula is no Farallon, the prior restaurant at that location…not by a long shot. The food lacked flavor generally, and was prepared too quickly by all appearances. I had the filet of beef which was fatty, the wine reduction too peppery to the point of overwhelming any flavor in the reduction. The sides looked like they had been thrown onto to the plate. Overall, a disappointing experience. Not going back.

    The two of us had a fine lunch. Lamb shank was very good as were the salmon. Also good was the soup and the gem lettuce salad. Service was pleasant and efficient.

    So many issues with this place. Ok, here goes. First, when I arrived at the restaurant, the hostess checked me in and then said her colleague would show me to the table. But her colleague was on the phone for several additional minutes. After she got off, she then tried to check me in and had to be told by the hostess that I already was checked in. Second, when I got to my table, I was then informed, for the first time, that there would be an $80 minimum per person, apparently because the JPM Dinner Party guests were using the tables to hold business meetings. In other words, Ula was requiring me to subsidize the anticipated reduced revenues caused by tourists who stayed longer than usual at the tables by ensuring that I paid at least $80 per person regardless of whether I was part of their group or ordered that much. That policy seems very questionable. I had someplace to be in 90 minutes and it was too late for me to simply leave Ula; besides, Ula had implemented a $50 cancellation fee policy, already secured by my credit card, and would have charged my card $50 if I had just left. Third, when the server finally arrived, his attitude was of someone perturbed to be doing his job. He never checked to see if the food was all right and we had to ask him for utensils. Fourth, the 20% service charge guaranteed the server's tip, so maybe he thought why bother being pleasant? Fifth, the food was uninspired and $19 for what turned out to be a small, bland, margarita was a rip-off. This was our second visit to Ula but I doubt we'll be back. The restaurant's fancy surroundings do not compensate for average food, lousy service, and price-gouging policies such as Ula's $80 minimum dinner order.
