Hit the happy hour - great selection of food and beverages. Always a good time
Just fantastic every time. You really can't beat this place.
Phenomenal food, topped only by the amazing staff and ambiance. Uchi is a special occasion restaurant where you go to treat yourself and those you love.
Try the Namahotate rolls, and MAKE SURE to try toe Honey Toast dessert. It will change your life.
Absolutely incredible food and absolutely incredible service. You cannot go wrong with this place. Literally everything we had was amazing.
Mike was awesome! It was our first time here and he had great recommendations! He was fun and personable! We had a great time!
Uchi never disappoints! They are handling COVID-19 precautions perfectly while maintaining intimacy, ambiance, and fantastic menu items.
Food was delicious, as always. The service is mostly attentive. Our server forgot a couple of things, but that's somewhat expected when you have a group of six and ordering a lot.
One small critical detail was the inability to split checks. We had a group of three couples and mentioned that from the get-go. Having to sit there at the end and add up our checks individually was somewhat incommodious. I don't want to be presumptuous, but I've experienced restaurants of all calibers do this without hesitation, so not sure if it was any more difficult in this situation.
Outstanding experience on all fronts
Ordered 12 things off the menu and only like three of them. One item was terrible and the waiter told me it was his least favorite item on the menu...end of story. Waiter was inattentive and simply disappeared half way through the evening, essentially stranding us. We wanted to order more food, but he was gone so long we decided not to chance it. Bummed because we wanted dessert.
I love Uchi and have supported them during Covid, but during my last visit the inside was packed. The patrons seated in the table directly behind us were about 4' away on both sides. Early during pandemic there was spaced out seating, however spaced out tables is no longer the case. Outside seating seems to be the safer option weather permitting.
Amazing food and service.
Patio is noisy with traffic from busy road. Food was very good, just wish there was more traditional sushi offering. If you like fusion this is the place.
As usual, amazing dining experience.
Way too overpriced for what you get felt like I spent $100 too much.
Without a doubt, the highlight of Uchi was our server (Jenny) who took the time to walk through the menu in detail and provide recommendations based on our likes/dislikes. Additionally, dessert (both the honey brioche and ice cream sandwich with chocolate mole) were stellar. That being said, the overall ambiance was ho-hum and none of the savory dishes blew us away. Perhaps our expectations were too high going in...? 🤷♂️
Some of the best sushi I’ve ever had, and the happy hour is amazing!
I hi is always a favorite. Highly recommend it
Uchi never fails me! Favorite spot in town
First time in Austin. Read revues about Uchi & they were all true! Fantastic food, great service. Glad to make the trip there...well worth it!
I can’t remember our servers name, but she was so personable, and had great table side manors. She really made my 30th birthday special.
Amazing food and service! Everything was so fresh
After multiple trips to Uchiko (Austin) and Uchiba (Dallas), we finally went to the original Uchi in Austin for my wife’s BDay. The experience was flawless from start to finish, including a glorious omakase dining experience. All pieces were great, but the braised short rib always merits special mention - it’s indescribably delicious.
We can’t wait for our next visit to Uchi!
So I’m a HUGE Uchi fan. My boyfriend and I go just about any chance we get. This review addresses our first and second trip to the Austin uchi - both this past week.
The first trip - phenomenal. Our waiter, Arvin, was THE BEST, and we did the Omakase and definitely felt that it rivaled that of the Dallas and Houston locations. The ONLY downfall was the lack of fried milk - which is only served at Uchiko.
Our second trip was to take a friend, whom we had talked uchi up to for months. Although in the end it was still a great experience, it really did not stack up to the high praises we’d been singing. Omakase for a group of three is tough - which I anticipated, but I don’t think we ordered correctly in the end. Our first 5 tastings of 10 were slightly disappointing. We kept assuring our friend it would get better. Eventually, it did, but not really knowing how we felt, we didn’t order too many extra courses, and all left a little hungry. Overall - I would just steer clear of Omakase in odd numbers - because it was TOUGH to gauge how much extra to order. Still love uchi but this was our least favorite trip - especially after promising the stars and the moon to our friend and not delivering nearly that much.
Bday dinner it was a fabulous
Incredible service and phenomenal dishes. Omakase is easily the best on the menu.
Truly one of the best meals I’ve had in my life! My only complaint was that we came for sake social on January 2nd and were not told until we arrived at sake social would not be honored because of “new year’s” despite the fact that we were there the day after New Years. That really colored my experience at first, but truly the food was amazing. I wish I hadn’t felt like it was a bait and switch but I would definitely take friends and family here again for a special meal.
Great fresh quality sushi and very reasonably priced.
Really enjoyed it- will return on next trip to Austin
Top 3 best meal I’ve ever had. Flavors were incredible!
Masterful flavor combinations. Excellent attentive service. I am never disappointed. Hot Rock, walu walu, gyotoro, Hama chili are among my favorites. Desert...the tapioca is heavenly, candy bar is delicious as the ice cream sandwich.
The sorbet trio never misses. Again, masterful flavors!
First time eating here since COVID. Very impressed. No deterioration in quality, taste, or selection. If anything it was more quiet/less crowded and a bit more enjoyable.
Wonderful meal with excellent service. Best to keep an open mind as the flavor combinations are very unique but everything tastes amazing. Our waitress Jenny did not disappoint - every one of her recommendations rocked!
Was overcharged for a cocktail. Went here for our one year anniversary with no special service or congratulations. Server Sam was fairly nice, but could’ve done more explaining of the food and system of the tasting menus.
We had a lot of high highs like the shag roll, but we also had a lot of lows such as the foie gras being burnt and the tako special with octopus not being well balanced in flavor.
Due to the price and our expectations formed from previously dining at the sister restaurant, Uchiko, we determined the food, service and environment of Uchi is simply not at a level that meets our previously established expectations.
Unbelievable experience from being seated to receiving the bill. Knowledgeable staff, without doubt some of the best sushi my wife and I have ever tasted, and we just left Hawaii where it was always phenomenal.
Cool place in Austin for high-end sushi dining.
We did the 10 course tasting menu and it was AMAZING!!! We were a group of 4 with two people having differing allergy restrictions and all was completely seamless and absolutely delectable! We sat outside (due to COVID) and it was VERY loud with traffic and the smell of exhaust (sporadically) but the more we enjoyed the food and drink the less we noticed the traffic! ;-)
The food and staff were amazing! Well worth the wait and the experience.
You can never go wrong with Uchi. High end service and wonderful food.
Our server was so excellent and the food was superb
The Uchi staff is doing a wonderful job creating a safe environment for people to enjoy an outstanding dining experience. We ate outside and had a fabulous evening!!
