Everything was perfect. Great place. We can't wait to return.
Yummy food. Different small dishes, we did get a bit sick from the food, I think its the variety of spices but overall ok.
20th Anniversary spent at Uchi. We loved every bite. Can’t wait to visit again.
My Daughters birthday.
Alyssa was our server. First class service. In the restaurant business we call her a 51%er. Thanks Danny Myers.
One of the best meals ever. Entire staff worked as a team.
Service was excellent. Every dish was presented and delish!
Amazing taste, try the sake happy hour to get a sample of different dishes, trust your server all the recommendations we had were spectacular
Outstanding as usual! I had the good fortune to enjoy Uchi twice this week and both times were flawless! I appreciate the measures they’re taking to keep guests and their staff safe. It looks like they are booking fewer tables than even the state allotted amount and they are serving outside as well. Thank you Tyson and all of your Uchi team!
As usual, our dinner was AMAZING!! and our server Stephanie was a delight!
Incredible food, ambiance was very nice for being downtown. Table spacing with regard to Covid was very well handled.
Noise level too high for street seating. Food value low. Do not recommend.
Accommodating and friendly service, we were seated right away at exact reservation time, superbly delicious food as always. One of my favorite places for a night out.
Great Birthday dinner!
Awesome place. Best in a Texas. Only place I go to get sushi.
It's the best place in Austin and it's not close. If you go to Uchiko, you Dallas.
it’s at unchi where the rubber really hits the road. and it’s an incredibly rewarding bet letting the chef get behind the wheel with the tasting market.
Even in the age of Covid and restaurant restrictions, Uchi has managed to provide an excellent experience. As always, service was attentive and friendly, the food was outstanding, and the atmosphere - while not its usual raucous self (because of social distancing measures in place, spread parties out) - was relaxing. A fun place that we always look forward to visiting for a terrific meal and a fun time.
Celebrating our 2nd wedding anniversary (and second time celebrating it at Uchi). As always the food is amazing. The staff were all super friendly and helpful. The restaurant abided by COVID restrictions (some guests did not - not wear a mask when walking through restaurant). For our first dining out experience since COVID it was a pleasant experience. We went during social hour and were able to try everything on the menu. Don’t skip the lettuce hand roll with sardines. I promise you won’t regret it. The attention to detail in the food down to explaining dishes and recommendations keep us celebrating with Uchi.
Wonderful food, atmosphere and service! Will return as often as we can snag a reservation!
the perfect storm?
table was 45m late (something about people hanging around too long)
waitress kept forgetting items (sparkling water, another bottle of sake) and made lots of mistakes (including getting us 6 times the sashimi we asked for)
manager offered to comp entire sashimi but that never happened
waitress comped half of what was accidentally brought (and charged 3x what we actually ordered)
at 11:40pm we were pretty much only clients there and were still waiting for a dish that we canceled and still got charged for anyway as we were falling asleep (hum maybe our table was late because everyone was waiting for their food?)
food was ok but all the sauces and raw thai chilis completely overwhelmed the fish and were not balanced. fish was good without the sauces. sauces were good without the fish
been coming here for 10 years. never again.
I can't say enough about the food...we had the omakase ten course chef's tasting. Every dish was unique and delicious. The pacing for the first few courses was great. Unfortunately, it went off the rails from there. There was a signficant period with neither food or drink. After that delay, the courses came out from several different people (often with the server/expeditor holding a dish for another table). And, we started receiving the next course before being finished with the current course. I mentioned my disaapoinment twice and it continued to happen until the conclusion of dinner. These gaffes are almost inexcusable from a restaurant that is held in such high esteem. Left feeling letdown...
Had such a great meal and a great time on our recent trip to Uchi. We came to Austin for a quick 48 hour food tour and I had to do a return dinner at Uchi and so glad we did.
Molly was awesome, we opted for the chef’s 10 course tasting and let Molly pick some more items to sprinkle into the meal. Didn’t disappoint, what a great progression.
Thanks Uchi Austin team for the hospitality and fantastic meal.
By far the best fish I’ve had in austin but it’s just really unfortunate that you’re paying a major premium and the only outdoor dining option is being blasted with noise from the street, music to cover it up, and rickety fans. The service could not have been better though. I suggest If you’re comfortable sitting inside you do so.
Nicolette was amazing!
amazing staff, impeccable service and a great happy hour
We had a few memorable bits but for the price and the length of time it took to get a small bite I am not sure how often I would return.
Foie Gras was the single best bite we had. The walu walu was good as well. Enjoyed the uchi salad for its texture. The extra fatty tuna and scallop.
The uni was so small and definitely not worth ordering.
Fantastic experience at Uchi - loved the tasting menu style, friendliness of the waitstaff, and overall ambiance. Portions are very small, but to be expected with finer dining. Cant wait to go back and try more!
Made a reservation to introduce Uchi to two friends and left feeling like I made a poor recommendation. I had dined with Uchi before and had a wonderful experience. This time around, the lackluster of it all may have boiled down to our server. She was warm but not friendly and as she took our orders, she did not mention that the omakase must be ordered and shared by two people. This was not a problem for me as I was part of a couple that often shares food but my friends we individuals, expecting two separate chef's tasting, as it is often done in other fine dining sushi experiences. Once we realized this, the server did not seem apologetic for not disclosing this information and left my friends to share all of their dishes.
In addition, she forgot to put in our social hour orders until half an hour after we ordered them. We also let her know that we would be doing the vegan chef's tasting and was brought out a dish with a raw egg.
My friends did enjoy their food but wished it offer more of a traditional omakase making Nigiri and the fresh fish the star. Sadly, they likely will not be returning.
Excellent!..... everything we tried was fresh and delicious.
It was really disappointing after how the 10 dish course was built up online. Inattentive wait staff as well. Felt uncomfortable and ripped off. I've had this kind of thing in other cities...I could not help but leave thinking this place was beyond pretentiousness for how meager the food was in terms of taste and establishing a feeling a fullness.
Our food was delicious. We had a bunch of different courses and each one was better than the last. The waiters were very knowledgeable on the menu and friendly as well.
Still the best sushi in town. This was my first chance to go for social hour and we loved the small bites allowing us to try even more flavorful pairings. Excellent service made this yet another top notch meal experience.
I’ve had uchi many times in Houston. Austin was a huge disappointment. Food was not good at all
Amazing experience from the food to the service. It was hard to read the menu so Melissa did a fantastic job curating the perfect menu. Will definitely be back!
It’s good but I prefer Uchiko
waited 35 minutes for a 7:00 reservation on a tuesday. waitstaff was nice and comped a round of drinks and an entree. but not a great experience waiting that long for a table.
Best overall service I’ve ever received at a restaurant
Uchi was our absolute favorite dining experience we have had here in Austin. Our server picked our whole menu and she did not fail us once! Staff was well educated on the food and paired everything so beautifully, the dinner was interactive and truly an experience. Cannot recommend enough!
I love Uchi, and more importantly, I enjoy the great service and treatment from all of the staff. You guys are the best I've seen and you're the reason for my continued and very frequent visits. Keep up the great job and kindness to show to my guest and I. Not to mention the food is amazing. Number 1 restaurant in Austin :)))
