Translated from the Japanese word “home,” the original Uchi is located in a refurbished South Austin bungalow. Award-winning Chef Tyson Cole’s signature non-traditional take on Japanese food has delighted Austin’s diverse dining crowd as well as visitors from across the country and around the world since 2003. Reservations are encouraged and can be made up to 1 month in advance. Walk-in seating is limited to the Sushi Bar and is subject to wait times. Still the best sushi in Austin! Uchi always has delicious and high quality food. We love their sushi AND their meat preparations from bream with a touch of lime zest and sea salt to slow cooked waygu nigiri. They course out your meat nicely so you can savor all the amazing and thoughtfully prepared dishes. We took our daughter here for her birthday and Sarah helped to make it very special. Service is always top flight.
