Translated from the Japanese word “home,” the original Uchi is located in a refurbished South Austin bungalow. Award-winning Chef Tyson Cole’s signature non-traditional take on Japanese food has delighted Austin’s diverse dining crowd as well as visitors from across the country and around the world since 2003. Reservations are encouraged and can be made up to 1 month in advance. Walk-in seating is limited to the Sushi Bar and is subject to wait times. Patio seating is weather permitting and may be rescheduled in the event of inclement weather. We look forward to serving you, Kanpai!

    Our reservation was quite late and we had two more than I expected ( family miscommunication). Although we had to wait a bit, Uchi still accommodated us. The food and service was superb. I t made for a wonderful experience. We were celebrating birthdays.

    Every plate that we got was a 10/10. Service is always immaculate. One of my favorite spots to celebrate a special occasion.

    Amazing! Joe is the best. Scallop nigiri, Hama chili, wagyu, port wine with desert, and everything else which was recommended delicious.

    Hanna was our server and she was a 10/10! Incredibly knowledgeable about the menu. Made great suggestions. Super friendly and personable. Also gave us great recommendations for where to venture to after. She's a keeper! Also, the scallop was the best bite of fish I've ever had in my entire life, anywhere. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
