Two visits to Tzarevna in the books.
Have been here twice,
First time for dinner and today for brunch.
Both times food was fresh and delicious.
They have nice selection of wines ... was happy to see good ones from Georgia,
we ordered a bottle and must tell you I enjoyed every sip of it.
P.s. must try their home baked bread ...
I am definitely coming back !
awesome hosts who know the food and wines well (: Would definitely go back! It was a unique experience to try true Russian cuisine
Delicious modern twist on Russian food, without the heaviness of the original. Desserts are yummy
Unexpected gem in the Lower East Side. From the minute we walked in, the service was outstanding. The menu is in Cyrillic and English. I wasn't familiar with Russian food, but our helpful server taught us a bunch. I'm glad it's tapas style so we try a bunch of stuff. Definitely coming back to try more!
We loved it. The food is plenty and very tasty. The price is right. The setting is cozy and quiet. Service attentive.
A little gem. I will go again.
Delicious takes on familiar pan-Russian dishes. Carefully crafted dishes. Friendly service, good value. Casual.
Delicicious food and friendly staff in a cool space! Definitely will be back!
Absolutely terrific food and a bargain to boot. Extremely friendly and knowledgable service, but not overbearing. Try the cured fish and don't miss the amazing pizza things and salads. Will definitely return.
East village gem with a unique wine list and excellent service. The food was also excellent and well differentiated from many of the spots that populate the lower east side. The portions are on the large side for tapas so 3 or 4 dishes should be enough for 2! Highly recommended!
Unique. Fantastic. Balanced. Best meal I’ve had since moving to New York.
Lovely place and great brunch
Couldn’t have been more happier with the service and food. This place is a gem!
There is an absolute hidden gem of the lower east side. You have to carefully look for it down a flight of stairs, past the newly added coffee bar, past the kitchen & up the stairs to an enchanting glass-roofed space that makes you feel like you’re dining al Fresco in Ricky & Maria’s backyard.
Carl, the Fabio look-alike, bubbly maitre ‘d /waiter greets you enthusiastically & makes the experience perfect (he can never leave!)
Everything we had was amazing from the beet creme fraiche small plate, to the cheese board with the amazing cara cara jam & candied walnuts to the shrimp with broccoli puree to the charcuterie board with the duck sausage which my duck hating dining companion stated he liked to the heavenly fried chicken with the well-balanced delicious strawberry hot sauce, which my dining companion labeled the BEST fried chicken he ever ate to the brown bread & scallion butter to the piece d’ resistance—the thyme infused & salt rubbed, dry-aged perfectly cooked cote de boeuf for 2 served with pomme puree & asparagus.
The homemade deconstructed s’mores completes the experience.
The portion sizes were just the right size.
All in all it was a perfect experience & I can’t to go there for brunch & back for dinner to try everything I didn’t have last night.
We went in for dinner on Friday. We had the tiger shrimp snack and wagyu tartare. The wagyu was amazing and the broccoli puree with the shrimp was delicious! For our main, we split the Cote de boeuf. This was literally the best steak I have ever had!
The pomme puree was great as well as asparagus. We had the bottle of red wine CdP along with our beef and it was a perfect pairing, not too overpowering for this delicate cut. The marbelization on the meat locked in all the juices and flavor. Cant wait to go back! Highly recommend!
This was my second time eating at There, and it was another fantastic dinner! I love the buckwheat salad and am very glad I ordered dessert. The staff is very friendly and helpful. You’ll love the dining room! Looking forward to coming back!
Loved our experience at There! Chef Ricky was so fabulous. Can’t wait to go back!
Outstanding food in a warm environment. Owned by a delightful couple who are gracious hosts. We went for brunch (amazing) and can’t wait to return for dinner. Highly recommend!!!!
We enjoyed our NYE dinner at There. The food was great! Only downside was a few items were a bit on the salty side. Ambiance of this restaurant is really cool and imagine it would be even better on a clear night with the clear roof.
A fantastic place with an amazing crew and selection of food. The head chef and main server are a wonderfully friendly couple who will do everything in their power to make your meal unique and memorable. I'm allergic to shellfish, and the chef adjusted the monkfish to have a sauce included, free of shellfish. Drinks vary, and there is a wide selection of beers, wines and even unique sodas (the sarsaparilla is a personal favorite). Come in for a unique seating area, complete with friendly faces, great conversations and food that will tantalize and whisk you away into a world of flavor and delight. 5/5, will eat there again.
Really special food here! Five us split a bunch of appetizers and two main courses and virtually every dish was amazing, just really unusual and tasty flavorings. One of our favorites was the buckwheat & arugula salad - be sure to get that - it was incredible. The duck confit puff was also a favorite, and the wagyu tartar, heck, really every dish was unique and interesting. We loved splitting the s'mores fondue for dessert, yes, it's (homemade) marshmallows and sauces, but in really unusual flavors and combinations!
The ambiance is simple, cozy, cafe-like, and we loved it. It was perfect for our group because it was quiet enough that we could actually talk.
Service was welcoming and warm, from the greeter at the front door, to our waiter, to the chef we met on our way out. Our waiter helped us figure out the right number and range of dishes to order since we planned to share. We also really liked how the wine list was laid out - it's different from what it looks like online - and helps with the ordering.
We will definitely be going back and will be recommending this gem of a place to friends!
Very good food and friendly service. Short menu. Interesting space.
What a nice find! The food was fantastic - different flavors and interesting pairings. Ambience was warm and cozy. Homemade bread was so delicious. Will be back!
My experience at “There” was nothing short of fabulous! The food full of beautiful flavour and truly thought out. The presentation was stunning and the service was impeccable! Our glass was always filled with delicious wine. So happy we found that place and I good luck to Ricki and Maria with their place!
What a hidden gem! The menu is so unusual but everything we tried was sssssoooooooo good! Wine selection and the right serving temperature left me very happy, as some other places still don't chill their reds.
"Scallops and salo" - such an elegant dish, - salo is so tender, it almost tastes sweet, goes very well with beautifully prepared and seasoned scallops.
"Buckwheat salad" was probably the best vegetarian dish i've ever had, highly recommended! Very umami, crispy, flavorful.
and the "Duck breast' was so tender, with that blood orange and carrot pure on the bottom - it was to die for!
Everyone there was very friendly and nice, our server was knowledgable and gave very helpful recommendations. The atmosphere was very cozy, the glass ceiling is something you don't see too often in the city.
We are definitely coming back to try more!
Awesome awesome awesome! Food is new and inventive within a fun and charming atmosphere. The appetizers are tapas style, so they are smaller in size than the traditional app, but are soooo delicious. Standouts were Pelmenie, shrimp and broccoli, duck confit puff pastry, and the cured trout. Fried chicken is perfect, nuff said. Best part was service was on point and the ambiance was very romantic, will definitely go back for more date nights.
Food was excellent and the room is cool with a glass roof and you havce to walk through a corridor to get to it so its away from the street. Perfect for a date.
Note that there is a relatively small menu, at least for large plates (I guess many of the options are tapas) so I would recommend checking it before you go, but everything they served was excellent and the ambiance was nice.
