We had a group of 8 dining on the patio. Our waitstaffer was good, almost excellent, but she was stressed and because the restaurant was understaffed. Unfortunately, that's the newly reopened semi-post pandemic world we live in. She was doing the best she was able to do.
Celebrate your special birthday with family and friends at Tupelo Honey!! You will be glad you came, and the entire staff was amazing especially our server Jack!!
We have been eating at Tupelo Honey for years, usually at the original location in Asheville. Twice in the last week we were there. The food there used to be wonderful. Now it is a real disappointment, no better than some of the more inexpensive chain restaurants. Meatloaf was overdone with an unappealing and very peppery sauce. The avocado bowl was all mush other than carrots on the side. A salad was romaine lettuce with grated cheese, the same thing we could get from a grocery store salad bar. We are sad to see such a good restaurant drop an excellent menu in an attempt to be trendy. We will not go back there.
Most surprising brunch ever. As a french person who wanted to discover some typical southern brunch, it was just perfect! I had waffles topped with honey fried chicken, pecans, bacon and eggs and had never tasted such an association of tastes! Loved it. The bloody mary was so good too. My only regret is that I could have taste everything on the menu. It just means I will have to come back!
Food was delicious as usual. Chicken and Pancakes and Sweet and Spicy Chicken Sandwich. Our waitress Sara was not only waiting tables and bar customers but making drinks for rest of restaurant. Sara was pleasant and gave excellent service. She was a pleasant change from the hostess who was not welcoming or pleasant and acted like she did not want to be there.
Shrimp and grits, biscuits and smothered chicken were very good. Mac and cheese was tragic - how can this be in a place that prides itself on southern food. Our waitress was awesome. Worth the try just don’t try the Mac and cheese.
Every aspect of our visit was outstanding. The service was fantastic, the food was delicious, and the environment was fun and welcoming. The restrooms were clean, and it was easy to find parking. We loved everything about our visit to Tupelo Honey!
I always enjoy eating at Tupelo Honey in South Asheville.
They could add a little more vanilla flavoring to the pudding portion of the banana pudding! It was delicious!
The restaurant was out of beer & wine. Limited menu. Manager came and spoke to us but there’s no excuse in running out of beer and wines.
Such a cool spot- great service, delicious food, really neat atmosphere.
I hate that some of the items original to Tupelo HOney are no longer on the menu and also the extra's like the peach butter. Bring back the grit cakes.
Our server was amazing! She made my friend feel special on her birthday and was early with coffee refills!
Love this restaurant! We make a point to visit whenever we are near Asheville!
I have always enjoyed Tupelo Honey! I have lived in the area for the past eight years. It is my favorite place to take visitors and guests.
We had been anticipating our return to Tupelo Cafe forever! Couldn’t wait to see that magnificent bowl of Shrimp and Grits! Was not disappointed!! ❤️ The husband was in the mood for a summer fare and opted for the Cobb Salad! What a beautiful presentation. He also has the Sweet Tea and commented that it was the best he’d had in years. Thank you Tupelo for making our visit everything we imagined! ❤️
This was my first visit to Tupelo Honey - I went with my Mom and we sat outside. It was lovely. The waitress was wonderful and very attentive. I had the rainbow bowl which was delicious and my Mom had the Pork - For her it was a little spicy - but I ate it the next day and it was wonderful. The most surprising thing that they offer was a menu for your 4-legged friend. I think its fantastic to have something to eat for your favorite pet. I would highly recommend this restaurant and would love to go back.
The food was delicious with generous portions. Nice selection of local brews. Our server was great and even took the time to write down a list of some his recommended breweries to visit while we were in Asheville.
When I look for a restaurant to take my business partners, Tupelo Honey is my first choice. The food is good and the environment is business friendly. I am still able to have a professional conversation without needing to talk loudly.
Actually thought we were making reservations for the downtown location. We used our GPS to get there and realized it was taking us somewhere else. Didn’t know about the new location. The new restaurant was beautiful and the food was fantastic just as always 😊
amazing experience, amazing food, and really good portions! i highly recommend this place.
My wife and I had a nice dinner at Tupelo Honey - South Asheville. We inadvertently booked this location instead of downtown Asheville, but it turned out to be a nice experience. Then South Asheville location was less crowded and quieter than the downtown location and I would recommend it if you want to avoid the crowds and tourist area. The food was just the same and the service was outstanding. I highly recommend getting the biscuits!!!
Always a great place. Great food and service!!!!!!
We came there really wanting the bowls and both of them were not available, so we chose something we really did not want
Food was excellent, creative recipes and good comfort food. Out of town guests loved the experience at the Hendersonville Road restaurant and everyone enjoyed their meals!!
Well done Tupelo Honey!!
Folks who worked there were great. Food was good. It was crazy loud. They were out of several things on the menu, which was odd given our reservation time, and they had no draft beers available. The atmosphere wasn’t for me.
Always a great place to go.
Our food was wonderful as well as our waiter. Great outdoor seating also. We will definitely do it again
Bar was out of stock to make drinks on their menu. Honey Margarita was the worst I ever had. Dinner menu is nothing to rave about.
Out of most appetizers, vermouth for cocktail, and wine. Very disappointing experience for a 6:30pm reservation weeks in advance
Excellent food and excellent service! The menu would benefit from the addition of gluten-free and dairy-free items. The decor is very attractive, and the indoor and outdoor seating is superior. The staff is quite friendly and accommodating.
Food was very bland and overcooked. Had Mountain Harvest Bowl and all veggies were mushy. Server was excellent though.
Food is solid and service is for the most part wonderful.
We did order a couple if dishes with minor changes and they were not accounted for. That is the reason for the lower rating. Also, we sat outside at a table completely uncovered. It was the only table set up this way and I guess they should not offer it my opinion
Chicken and waffles were excellent! Even though we arrived early for our reservation the manager was gracious enough to get us a table early.
The restaurant was out of several things on the menu. Disappointing.
Food was mediocre at best. Seemed like the fried grease is not being switched out recently. Fried chicken desperately needed salt. Mac and cheese was very good. Waiter was attentive and very personable and friendly b
Great food, very friendly service. I would be happy to return.
Bummer to be out of all the fun vegetarian options like my favorite harvest bowl! Everyone else enjoyed their dinner so it was a good night overall. They did great having a large party but still took care of us well. Newer staff but they worked hard and did a great job.
Tupelo Honey is standard go to for southern comfort food, has a great menu, and they take reservations which is always appreciated. Our service last night was fair which was disappointing.
We made reservations on open table for Tupelo honey three weeks in advanced of memorial day weekend as we heard the high praises for for this restaurant and chef. But as high as were our expectations the biggest was our disappointment. We made reservations for outdoor seating (we thought it would be warm weather on May 28) , but it was a cold evening (58 F) and windy. Surprisinglyi the owners removed the space heaters, which made it uncomfortable to sit outside even with jackets, not to mention that the food became cold in 2 minutes. When we arrived, the maitredees (3 young women) ran around for 10 minutes with their tablets trying to update their devices although you did not need to be a rocket scientist to notice that the restaurant was half empty. While waiting for 15 minutes we noticed that all the guests arrived wearing masks but NONE of the staff wore the mandatory masks.
The service was friendly and too efficient to the point we felt they were more focusing on table turnover than customer experience. The appetizers arrived so fast (less than 2 minutes) and tasted as if they stood under the heat lamp for a while. The fried pickles were soggy and the crispy Brussels sprouts were not crunchy and even the dipping sauce could not revive them. For the main course we had the fried chicken that was juicy and crispy (the only positive thing that night) .
We left disappointed and very cold while leaving half of the appetizers uneaten and went for dessert elsewhere.
We will not return.
