The food was pretty good. The greens were just barely warm. Most places serve them hot. That’s my only food complaint. We were seated at the last table before the patio entrance. We had a lot of foot travel by our table, and the table on the other side of the aisle added an extra chair to the end to make sure that everyone walked by right next us. I felt like I was in the way. The noise was horrendous. The traffic was horrible. Had I known beforehand, I’d have asked for the patio. Being our first time, we didn’t know. Now we do.

We had a disappointing experience. While the fried chicken dishes lived up to expectations our other entrees did not. Both the Salmon and mahi mahi were extremely over cooked and should have been caught by the kitchen staff.

We had a 6:45pm reservation and were seated promptly. The host staff was nice and out waitress was nice but she was all over the place. She came to our table and instantly spilled our waters on the table onto us. She said she’s not known for customer service but she can get things done. I was shocked. Accidents happen and she was nice but it was hard to work with her to be honest. We ordered appetizers and about 5 minutes later the waitress took our entree order. I had fried green tomatoes and the grits underneath tasted like paper - no seasoning whatsoever and the tomatoes were just plain and gross. The biscuits were so dry I couldn’t even eat them. My husband had the brussel sprouts and they were extremely burnt and salty. The main entrees came more than an hour later - we didn’t get our food until 8:15. The food was cold when it came out and that was upsetting. I ordered the fried chicken and it was bland - I’m not sure if it even had salt on it or anything and the chicken was cold, the Mac and cheese was cold and tasteless, and my husband’s shrimp and grits were gross - probably the worst we’ve had in the south. I watched him struggle to eat those thick stale grits and just shook my head. It was my birthday and we came all the way to Ashville from Maryland for the weekend and this restaurant had the worst food I’ve had in a long time. I loved everything about Ashville except this place. I feel like my birthday dinner was ruined for sure and will never return to this restaurant. For $150 meal, the owners should be ashamed.

Glad to see that Tupelo Honey is staying open while so many other Asheville restaurants are closing. Our server Jeffery was an excellent server.
