So glad we visited. We sat next to the spot where the food was coming up and everything looked amazing. Ours was excellent and the free biscuits are beyond.
We reserved a table online, got seated on time, had a professional and enthusiastic server, delicious food, a wonderful breakfast for sure! It’s at least our third, maybe fourth time visiting, and it won’t be our last!
Great place to take my in-laws and kids while they were visiting. Good food but seemed
Overpriced to me for adult and kids meals. We sat on the outside patio and had a very enjoyable dinner. The Tupelo Margaritas were great, too.
We went twice in one weekend. It was that good. The food was great, the service was excellent, and the ambiance was fun,. Biscuits are to die for.
As out of towners we were excited to dine at Tupelo Honey in Downtown Asheville because of the "hype". Our reservations were for lunch. A sign informed us that waiting inside is not allowed. I understand as there is no room to wait. Waiting outside probably builds the restaurant's reputation as an "it". Once inside, our table was cramped and we had to squeeze by other patrons. The noise level was a bit high. I heard big things about the mac and cheese so I ordered a side. I felt it was bland and ended up eating only half. Same with the biscuit, in my opinion.
However, the fried green tomatoes served over grits were excellent. The coating was crisp and crunchy and the grits were creamy and well-seasoned. I would recommend those to anyone.
Perhaps I was disappointed BECAUSE of the hype. I expected more ambience, more southern charm and more flavorful dishes. The food and service were okay but not amazing. The prices were slightly high but that may be the area standard. All in all, I can't say it was bad or poor. Again, it was "okay". But I wouldn't say you HAVE TO go there.
Excellent. The food was delicious and the service was friendly and helpful. Highly recommend.
The best fried chicken we have ever had! The restaurant was in a fun location and the building itself makes for a great atmosphere!! Add it to your list of must dos!
Best restaurant in Asheville!! Can’t go wrong with anything on the menu, the staff is fantastic and the ambiance is great!
The green fried tomatoes were the best I've ever had. Their fried chicken and meatloaf are both exceptional. Their mojito, not so much. Definitely not the best I've ever had. It's super loud, so hard to visit, but good, friendly atmosphere. The checkin process could be improved with better instruction and making sure that those who made the effort to make a reservation come first. We waited 20 minutes to be seated, as walkins were seated before us. Overall a good meal and not bad service. The staff is very friendly and accommodating.
Excellent food. The biscuits were divine. The service was great. Very friendly and helpful. Will definitely recommend this restaurant.
The food was outstanding and we enjoyed being able to sit in the outdoor seating on such a nice day!
Overrated bad Caesar salad dressing no refills on lemonade Mac n cheese was not special. Chicken was fine but not anything special. Disappointing was hoping for more
The food here was amazing. I had the trout, and I think it was the best trout I’ve ever had. Their homemade biscuits and blackberry jam were delicious!
Everything was great!! Only complaint is the noise was so loud I couldn’t hear anyone at my table.
Tupelo Honey is always a treat. Great food and excellent service.
Wonderful food and exceptional service!! Visiting from Oklahoma, our party of 8 tried many different items on the food and drink menus and loved everything!!
Fantastic food and service. We will be back when we are back in Asheville.
Great service and food! Make reservations!
We ate here for Mother’s Day brunch and we had such a great time! The food was sooo good (we got fried okra, Old skool bowl, and Chicken and biscuits), and the service was amazing!
This was my first trip to Asheville and I happened to choose Tupelo Honey for brunch. What an excellent choice! Hot biscuits with honey to start, followed by Eggs Betty. So so good! Service was excellent.
Our server was amazing. I think it was Elaine. Great food and great experience.
I made a reservation for my graduation dinner with family from out of town. The server was super helpful explaining the honey dusted fried chicken and was very attentive. Everyone loved it and wants to come back next time they are in town! It was an excellent experience, thank you to our server especially!
Busy as usual, but even with a party of 9 our server was quick and the food excellent.
Every time we have eaten there the food and service has been stellar. We would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a great dining experience. The wait can be long but it is worth it!!!
Buzzing place....pun intended! Probably the best breakfast in all time...no kidding! Had pleasant reception from the host stand to the fabulous and accommodating server Lindsey! She recommended the Avocado Eggs Betty...an incredible dish that I am writing about now of course! Nothing like it. Simply beyond delicious. Lavender & Honeysuckle Lemondrop cocktail was ridiculous tasty, and our to-go Nitro Dry Hopped Sweet Tea was out of this world! Basically, you would be hard pressed to beat this place. Amazing!!!
Food was amazing... goat cheese grits and fried green tomatoes were outstanding!
All was great just don’t recommend sitting at the counter
Perfecto! Todo era buenísimo, recomendó a todos que prueban esta restaurante.
We sat in the new section for the first time. Lots of energy, but loud. The food was good as usual. The service was lacking. I don’t know if there were not enough servers for a busy night or if the server was having a bad day.
Great food, generous portions. Biscuits were perfect!
The environment is a bit claustrophobic, the service was inattentive but the food was good. It does not live up to the hype, but it is a decent meal when the company is good.
We chose Tupelo on the recommendation of a local friend. We also read the Tripadvisor reviews and were impressed with the menu with a Southern flair. They had a wide variety of beer, wine and hard cider choices plus some creative mixed drinks. The waitress was very knowledgeable of the food and beverages. I learned all about the local hard cider and the variety of flavors. We actually recommended Tupelo to a group of three visiting ladies who were perusing the menu outside. They were impressed with our evaluation and planned to dine there. The service was excellent and the food was delicious.
Second time visiting Asheville and Tupelo Honey was on the list ... again! Great menu, food and service. Prices are moderate for this area and a good value. We’ll be back when we return to Asheville again.
We were told by a few friends while we were down south to visit Asheville and eat at Tupelo Honey. We made a reservation in advance. We started with a round of appetizers. Pimento and cheese dish with chips, luke warm dip, which the waitstaff said it was meant to be. Couldn't taste the cheese and the chips tasted on the stale side. Deviled Eggs, served ice cold, flavorless and needed salt. Fried Green Tomatoes, which were so hard we could barely cut through them. As soon as we realized that the food was awful, we finished out Bloody Mary's and headed out. Absolutely lackluster!
The perfect tourist dining experience. This is what I imagined good Western South Carolina cooking would be. Might not be totally authentic, but who cares, cause it was very tasty.
I'd read about it in SL and thought we should try, since we were in Asheville for several nights. Crowd was more young folks than "mature", like us. Very frenetic atmosphere, too much for us, noisy and constant movement. Food was comfort food, nothing fancy, but that's what was expected. Mac & Cheese was great! Staff was very accommodating in helping us choose local beers to go w/our dinners.
Great food. Party of six, we had trout, meat loaf, ribs and shrimp and grits - all wonderful. The appetizers were equally as great, fried green tomatoes and fried okra.
Loved the fun and funky atmosphere. The food was delicious - four out of five had the fried chicken and all agreed it was delicious. Had a birthday in the group and had indicated this on reservation - she was quite surprised when a slice of birthday pie arrived at the table. Highly recommend Tupelo Honey and would certainly return!
Probably used to be good but could not recommend now. Service was spotty and food disappointing.
We were seated promptly at a table by kitchen.
AppetIzer arrived before our weak dinners. The cornbread, that I think was supposed to be served first arrived after the drinks.
Our main dishes were better especially the fried chicken. However the Mac and cheese was cool, dry, over cooked and under salted.
Needless to say, we skipped desert.
Tupelo Honey never disappoints. I have to visit at least once every time I go to Asheville.
