Tujague's - New Orleans
Lore states that brunch originated here, as did the Grasshopper cocktail. Homages to the restaurant's long and colorful history abound within the interior of the building from the classic 19th century architecture to memorabilia on the walls.
Menu items such as the seared gulf fish and the daily gumbo meld French traditions with New Orleans fare and flare. Our famous five course menu is still served nightly; but have no fear, the menu is no longer pre-fixe, so those less ravenous diners can join in too.
If you want a quintessential New Orleans experience filled with history and local fare, Tujague's is your place.

Our waiter literally took our order 5 times and had to come back and say they didn’t have it. We felt bad for him. Both waiters on back patio looked like they wanted to walk off the job. The food we did get sucked. Worst meal we had in Nola by far.
Outstanding 4 course meal with the boiled brisket!
Weekend dinner. Food not up to par with New Orleans standards. Tasted like it was made the day before and microwaved prior to serving. Waiter was nice but food took forever to arrive. Waiter brought us a complimentary sampling of soups as we waited for our food. That was very nice but did not make up for food quality. Gumbo was over spiced. Crab beignets were not good. Brisket was okay. Goat cheese crepe was the best of the 4 appetizers that we ordered. Will not be returning.
the food was on the downside. we had to return the plates as the first ones chosen were so salty that they were inedible. To be certain, though, they were replaced with other plates, not fish, and those were ok.
Food was great. Wait staff was friendly and gracious but very slow. It was a pleasant evening, but the new location does NOT have the ambiance of the old spot. Its just missing something.
The food was great!! Service was a bit iffy but we were taken care of fine!! We had the 4 course dinner and each course was very good!!
First time at the new location and it exceeded expectations since we loved the original location. We dined upstairs in the Iris Room and it was beautiful! Our Sunday brunch of Eggs Benedict with duck breast and the pan-seered Redfish was perfectly prepared. There is a wonderful courtyard and a wonderful balcony for outside dining. Cocktails were also fantastic! We cannot wait to go back!
Thank you so much for coming in! We are glad you enjoyed brunch at Tujague's!!
Great time! New location has great ambiance. Patty was wonderful - always a great brunch experience.
Thank you for coming in! We are glad you enjoyed everything!!
Ray was amazing!
Thank you for dining at Tujague's!
Food was average for New Orleans and the courtyard was pleasant. My check here somehow ended up being more than Arnaud’s and Muriel’s even though the food and service was not as good. Quite honestly, the service was quite poor. Check was not even presented in a folio, just the check and a pen, what other restaurant does that? The value just isn’t there. They need to lower prices 25% to match the experience.
Thank you for dining at Tujague's! We appreciate your feedback and will be sure to discuss as a team to make improvements. We definitely have room for improvement on service. We hope that you will visit us in the future so that we can prove to provide much better service.
Loved the old building and restaurant. The food and service are outstanding.
Thank you for coming in, Mary!
Tourists trap! Locals should stay away!!! Visitors can have it!!!
Bartender argued about something he was wrong about. Accosted my guest at the table.
Dining area on the second floor was very quiet & private, great for an intimate date. The service was good & interior decoration was beautiful. Looks like they have a beautiful central courtyard too. Food was delicious but as with most of the famous restaurants in this area, a date can get very pricey very fast. Highly recommend overall.
Thank you for dining at Tujague's! We are so glad you enjoyed your dining experience.
We came here for brunch as a bachelorette group! The service was incredible. We had Randy as our server and Brett was the bartender. They treated us so kindly and really made our bride feel special. They made fun wedding cake shots for us too! Can’t say enough good things about our time here!
Thank you for coming in! We are so glad that we were able to help you celebrate a special occasion.
We chose this restaurant because we thought it was a really old building. When we got there it turns out that they had moved locations a few months ago. We ordered our drinks and they gave us 2 of one drink because they had run out of lime. The food was ok. Service was just ok too. The first guy we saw was rather frazzled and it kinda set the tone for what was to come.
I'm extremely sorry we failed to meet your expectations. We strive to exceed every one of our guests' expectations. We clearly failed, and for that I am sorry. Feel free to reach out personally if you have any more specific feed back. I would love to address your critique with the staff. We thank you for visiting!
Excellent food - we arrived early that there was no staff to assist us.
Overall very good!
We did the table d’hote option and ordered two additional appetizers with our initial cocktails. The food was great. The outside seating was fantastic. Odd no restroom is on the first floor, but there was an elevator and stairs to access.
Thank you for dining at Tujague's! We are so glad you enjoyed it!!
When reality set in--upon entering new location, I couldn't help feel slightly disappointed as it seemed they had not yet really settled into the place, but that diminished quite quickly once Patty greeted us. She proved very attentive, informative, personable and a darned good professional at that! The food, wine, and dessert was fabulous AND realizing we were two blondes about to miss out on something important in life, she managed to supply us with a tiny grasshopper before we left and who knows, it could change my life somehow!!!
Thank you for coming in! We are so glad to hear that Patty made your dining experience at Tujague's so special.
El servicio y la calidez fue sobresaliente. Fuimos con dos bebes de 2 años, y entendemos que a veces puede ser complicado, pero nos atendieron con una gran amabilidad hacia mis hijas
Thank you for dining at Tujague's!
Great brunch in the new location!
An Easter Sunday and birthday celebration brunch. We were seated on the second floor indoors and our table was by the open balcony doors. The weather was perfect, the ambiance was fantastic and the service was outstanding. The food was overall very tasty, although the pork belly appetizer could have been seared a bit better and the shrimp on one of the entrees were a bit over-cooked and hard to peel. Still would highly recommend as a great overall dining experience and we want to come back for dinner on our next visit to New Orleans.
Okay place! A lot of the appetizers were sold out. Waited a very very long time for the food. Had some floating stuff in my water. Stayed a lot of time with empty table , which for that type of restaurant I wouldn’t expect. There were 4 or 5 different waiters coming over to the point that I didn’t know who to order my door to. Definitely overpriced!
Nice place but very average food with very limited menu. Cocktails were decent.
We had a wonderful time...I’m very picky and I can say this place is a 1000/10
We held an impromptu bridal shower brunch here and we were not disappointed. The food was delicious and I love that we were sat near a balcony. Everyone was super friendly and helpful and our waiter was knowledgeable and funny.
Sabrena, thank you for coming in! We are so glad you enjoyed Tujague's!!
The menu was limited and the food was really not prepared well. I would not return.
Fantastique as always. New location is quite lovely. Briskit was so good with the horseradish sauce. Turtle soup is excellent and the goat cheese & crayfish crepes superb. Grasshopper pannecotta is always en pointe!
Val, thank you for coming in! We are so glad you enjoyed your most recent visit to Tujague's!
The food was amazing and the outdoor courtyard space was beautiful!
Thank you for dining at Tujague's! We are so glad you enjoyed our courtyard.
Very friendly service. Great dinner. The lamb chops were incredible.
I’m sorry to say it was not a good experience. Staff are overwhelmed and food was awful. Oysters like rubber, shrimp and grits tasteless and beef was chewy. 😩
I’ve always loved Tujagues but this latest experience was subpar. Meat was over cooked enough to be a little dry but not enough to warrant returning it and service a little slow. Bread pudding was also a little dry in terms of sauce. Must have been a bad night for the kitchen.
If you’re looking for authentic Cajun cuisine, then look no further. All the food was prepared perfectly & the service was beyond excellent. Kudos to the chef & FOH manager for the wonderful staff. Thanks for an incredible meal,
Overall, our experience was ok but I was expecting more. Starting with the positives, the atmosphere at the restaurant was incredible. I also appreciate the service we received. Everyone was incredible friendly and kind. I ended up being unhappy with one course and when I asked to send it back, our waiter was very understanding and professional.
I thought the food was ok, but was not blown away by everything we ate. We started with the Beignets which were tasty. Second we split a wedge salad, which was delicious and tasted very fresh. I appreciate the waiter offering to split into two plates as well. For our entree, I had the beef tenderloin and my partner had the airline chicken. My tenderloin was very good, but I felt like the sides were incredibly bland. In addition it was much closer to rare instead of medium (how I ordered). My partner’s chicken was very flavorful and his sides were also delicious. Finally, we finished with desert. We decided to go with the Creme Brûlée which I ended up sending back. Unfortunately the first one was not torched enough and still had a lot of raw sugar on the top of the creme. There was no distinct crack. After getting a new one that was touched, the desert tasted much better. The creme was still very cold, and the top had a beautiful caramel color that you’d expect from a creme brûlée.
In addition, our server did not specifically provide us with bread, we along with all other parties in the courtyard had to ask for bread.
Overall, it wasn’t bad but we spend around the same price at a restaurant earlier that day for brunch, and I felt like the quality and tastes were much better. I don’t think this is a restaurant I would go back to but did appreciate the experience.
This place is unbelievable. The food is so good. I had the shrimp and grits and I will tell you is the best shrimp and grits I’ve ever had ever.
Great food. Decent service. Fun location. Good atmosphere.
An absolute must!! A New Orleans staple!! Go here every time I come to the city.
Great food and ambiance. A real dinning experience.
This is my 2nd review of Tujagues in a period of a few months, the 1st being not stellar. This time, however, we dined for dinner on Friday 3/26/21 and our experience was wonderful! We scored a patio table in the courtyard. The tables were nicely spaced and we were waited on by 3 very attentive, friendly and competent waitstaff. They made certain that we did not want for anything during our meal. We shared 5 courses consisting of goat cheese crepes, turtle soup, house salad, lamb chops and bread pudding. Each dish was properly prepared with the correct amount of seasoning and flavor. We decided that the bread pudding was the best we've tasted because it was light and fluffy with a delicate sauce that is in stark contrast to the heavy type typically served in other restaurants while keeping the flavor associated with local New Orleans bread pudding. We also would make note that the general manager, Russell, is dedicated to making sure that patrons are happy and satisfied with their experience. We will definitely return and recommend Tujagues to our friends.
Great service! Thank you Randy!
