Tujague's - New Orleans
Lore states that brunch originated here, as did the Grasshopper cocktail. Homages to the restaurant's long and colorful history abound within the interior of the building from the classic 19th century architecture to memorabilia on the walls.
Menu items such as the seared gulf fish and the daily gumbo meld French traditions with New Orleans fare and flare. Our famous five course menu is still served nightly; but have no fear, the menu is no longer pre-fixe, so those less ravenous diners can join in too.
If you want a quintessential New Orleans experience filled with history and local fare, Tujague's is your place.

Was disappointed in the Brisket appetizer, used to be so much better, tasted like dry pot roast this time. The Crawfish and Goat Cheese Crepes were amazing. Ordered a $52 bottle of wine, and ended up with a $95 bottle of wine - server had never opened nor served wine before!
Disappointing for the price paid - and will probably not go back, even though it was one of my favorite places once upon a time.
Brunch was amazing!! I had the Orleans eggs with a piece of heaven bread pudding and black coffee.
Brandon service awesome!!! Mimosas great!! I will come back soon!
Met friends for brunch and none of us had been here before. It is my new favorite brunch spot in NOLA. Service was amazing, the food was awesome, and the atmosphere was relaxed and happy. The only problem we had was deciding what to order because everything looked so good on the menu. I’ll be back and will bring my parents when they are in town. Thank y’all for an amazing brunch experience.
Servers were excellent!! Food was good just lacking something. Brisket is pot roast with raw onions so confused on by it is called brisket. Also even though dress code says casual, dress up if want to sit inside in AC. I would have dressed better if I knew, we kinda felt like the trashy folks being hidden in the court yard.
We are so happy that you enjoyed our service! The brisket is an original dish that has been served at Tujague's since 1856, when we opened. I also apologize if you felt unwelcomed because of your attire. Our only dress code is that gentleman cannot wear "a" framed or muscle t-shirts. The night of your visit we were limited on space because we were hosting a wedding on our second floor. I can assure you that your table assignment was not based on anything other than our availibility.
Disappointed is how I would describe this experience. Wife and I had different soup selections and both were Luke warm at best. Grilled oysters were not as hot (temperature) as other restaurants we have been in NOLA. The room we were seated in felt like I was being separated from the rest of people at restaurant. No ambience to speak of whatsoever.
Mark made this experience most memorable. Great food! Tortoise soup, Boudin balls, chicken & filet mignon were delicious. Their house wine is fantastic
Fish was bland rice was old. Meh
I apologize personally for the bland fish. It should have arrived blackened and full of flavor. I regret your experience was less than perfect. Please feel free to reach out to me with any further comments.
Exquisite. Fabulous service. Food was overwhelmingly and unexpectedly delicious. Welcoming and refreshing.
NOWFE Wine dinner. Amazing arranged. Very well thought out.
The host we encountered was very unfriendly. We originally did not have a reservation and were not able to get a table as a walk-in since according to the unfriendly host they are reservation only. She then said they are fully booked that day. I was a bit confused since the place was pretty empty when we walked in.
We stepped out and I got out my phone to see if I can make a reservation for another day, but it turned out the restaurant had many available slots for same day reservations. There was a reservation spot in 10mins so I did that. When we went back to the host stand the unfriendly host was standing by the bar chilling as we were waiting for her. She just stood there across the room glaring at me for a about a minute. I really don’t understand why she’s so rude. There was seriously only 2 or 3 tables occupied, so it’s not like she’s swamped with work. Anyway, she finally came and sat us. Throughout my meal there, she would periodically walk by and stare me down. I don’t know what I did to deserve this from her. I was nothing but polite to her the entire time.
The food and drinks were pleasant and our server was polite and helpful. A nice experience otherwise ruined by poor service at the host stand.
Everything was Amazing
From the moment we got there to the moment we left. Our server Neil was awesome. My wife and I had a great brunch.
Really enjoy the new location. Not as crowded or noisy but still the same great place.
Birthday weekend experience for Sunday brunch. Lovely decor. The air conditioning upstairs in the 2nd floor dining room was freezing us because the 1st floor is open-air on a warm day. Limited brunch menu. Food was good. Service was great.
I apologize for the air-conditioning settings and will be more cognizant of them in the future. Thank you for dining with us!
Great food and service!
Everything was delicious. We received excellent service from Randy.
It was our first time and we enjoyed our food and our waiter Randy♥️. We will definitely go again! The surprise grasshopper at the end was delicious 😋.
Eggs Benedict requires you drain the eggs before adding them to the toasted muffin otherwise it just gets mushy - no one likes a wet muffin that tastes of vinegar!
New location is great and all the staff are super accommodating and helpful.
Everything was awesome! Our server Brent was great! We will be back!
Perfect dinner. Excellent service. Good was delicious
We had the best time at Tujagues yesterday for brunch/lunch. The new building is Amazing (yes we gave ourselves a self guided tour). The service was on point. Our server was very knowledgeable and friendly and an all around great server. The drinks were so good (get the Pimms Cup) and the food was even better. If your a local like us or visiting the city don’t miss out on Tujagues I promise you won’t be disappointed.
I was introduced to Tujague’s for a French Quarter fest several years ago on a vacation and ever since my first bite of that brisket it’s been on my mind ever since. I just had a work trip and I made sure to visit Tujagues!! I didn’t know they moved so at first I was panicked that it was closed from the pandemic but a local told me it relocated. The new location is nothing short of amazing. Roomier but that seemed to be the only difference. The food , the brisket , was amazing. The staff, the service was as I remembered. Excellent. I was introduced to some of their house specialty cocktails and now I am hooked on the Pimms Cup. Long story short Tujague’s is fantastic.
That was a truly disappointing dining experience. I don’t understand how you can cook all the life out of a filet steak to make it flavorless. The fish was also just not good... fishy to an extreme and the sauce was gritty. One of the drinks we ordered was undrinkable - did the bartender even taste it? We let the server know it was unappealing and she apologized but didn’t offer a resolution or take it off the bill. The service, while friendly, was inattentive and didn’t even try to address our majority uneaten food and drinks. We used to frequent the old location often but our first time to Nola in a few years. We sadly won’t be making plans to return.
I am truly sorry that we failed to provide the experience we are capable of and should be delivering! I will address the problems with the appropriate staff. This was certainly not our best showing, and would love for you to try us again. We certainly can do better. If you would like to reach out to the restaurant you can contact myself, Russell at 504-525-8676. Thank you for your feedback.
Drinks were rather weak. Food was a bit overpriced.
I am sorry we missed the mark when you visited. Any specific feedback would be greatly appreciated.
Great service (loved our waiter Justin)
Food was outstanding
Thank you for visiting!
Just terrible...cold food, no dressing in salad..twice....so much more....please do not go.Good news they did comp my date and I.
Were sorry you had a bad experience from the cold soup to the crème brulee' you expected to be warm. We obviously didn't meet your expectations! If you'd like to give us another try, your meal is on us. I do just ask that you let us know that you're coming in so that we can plan for a veg plate cooked to your liking; as I truly regret that we weren't set up to accommodate you with the things you would prefer to eat on a whim. I do appreciate your feed back tableside, and the review you left.
First time dining at Tujague's and it was a great experience. Food and service were both incredible. We got the filet mignon and blackened red fish. Had to get the Grasshopper of course, and it was really good. Again, great experience, would definitely recommend.
Your accolades are greatly appreciated! We are happy this was a 5 stars, and look forward to seeing you again.
Service was excellent, food was delicious, fast, and hadn’t been under a heat lamp. We had the five course and everything was so good. The server was awesome, and offered us free drinks at the end of our meal. So happy we came. Atmosphere outside was beautiful and peaceful, couldn’t have asked for a better experience.
Thank you for the accolades! We hope to see you again.
Seemed like they were short staffed. Food took a very long time and it tasted average at best for the price it did not seem like a good value. I was not wowed with flavor. Mimosas were super flat. I understand about the building and it’s location. It was nice to try but I would not go again as a New Orleans local.
I am very sorry that you had less than a 5 star visit. We certainly missed our mark. I also apologize for the mimosas that were flat. Perhaps you received a bottle that wasn't "sound," but given the amount of mimosas we sell I can assure you that the bottle was not old. None the less, it is very important that we never fall short of expectations, especially with locals. I would like to invite you back, on us to show that your experience was a one off for us.
We ate outside in the courtyard where the weather was perfect. Our waiter had only been there 3 days and did an outstanding job. He really had studied the menu and trained well. The location is on the same street but in a much better and large location. The old place had charm but it was obvious from our last visit there were some problem with the old structure that would have been difficult to repair. The new place is really beautiful and well planned. The bathroom are on the second floor but there is an elevator to get to them. They are also spacious which is unusual for the French quarter. Service was a little slow but New Orleans was under some pretty harsh pandemic restrictions so that was to be expected. The food was exactly as advertised. Well presented and delicious.
Your server was David, and it is our pleasure to have him join the team. We were unexpectedly busy this weekend, and service did move slow than we prefer, but David took the stress in stride. We appreciate your accolades, and hope to see you again soon.
Excellent food, service and place.
I went with my mum two nights in a row, the filet mignon and airborne chicken were amazing; a true jewel in terms of architecture and gastronomy in New Orleans.
Mariel, I am so glad you enjoyed yourselves. We look forward to seeing you in the future!
The restaurant’s new location is very pretty. The courtyard was charming. Our servers were friendly and though a bit overwhelmed, attentive.
The food was, plainly put, quite awful. The charbroiled oysters appeared to be oven baked and were not hot. The gumbo was some of the worst I’ve had-and it was lukewarm. We asked that soup and salad be brought prior to main course it did not happen. Everything came out at the same time. The main courses everyone ordered was also Luke warm and not very good. When asked if andouille could be omitted from shrimp and grits we were told it was premade and could not be altered. In a city full of great food this was the worst meal we had (and most expensive). Do not make our mistake. Find another place to eat.
I want to personally apologize for your lackluster experience. We certainly could have omitted andouille sausage from your order, and the oysters are cooked on a grill (or are supposed to be). There is also no excuse that your meal wasn't coursed out, even if a server error, there certainly should have been an effort made to correct the mistake. I would love to make things right with you, as well as discuss details with the staff. Please reach out to Russell at 504-525-8676.
We had a lovely meal and fantastic service. Good drinks. Loved the Boudin Balls. Great meal overall.
We are happy you loved the drinks and the house made boudin! We look forward to serving you in the future.
Waitress hated her job and told us so
Restaurant is beautiful. The staff was attentive and friendly. The food was delicious and perfect portion sizes. We came for brunch, but will go back for dinner next time we're in town.
Melinda, thank you for dining at Tujague's! We look forward to seeing you for brunch on your next visit to New Orleans.
Waited 10 min after being seated before a server came to the table. Similarly slow when we asked for the check. Server was “uninterested” in providing a better service.
I am very sorry about your experience and the slow service provided. We are certainly short staffed right now, but that doesn't excuse the apathy from our staff. If you would be so kind as to provide me with the time of and name associated with your reservation, I will look into the where our shortcoming originated. We appreciate you choosing Tujague's and I truly apologize for letting you down.
Service was okay. Food was okay. Not much more to report.
Bill, I apologize that your experience was "just okay." I would love to hear specifics on the opportunities we missed with you. If you are interested in providing more specifics feel free to reach out to Russell at 504-525-8676.
Great atmosphere in the courtyard. Some difficulty getting wine—tried ordering 2 different ones and were out of both, but they were nice enough to comp us 2 glasses
George, I know it is frustrating for a restaurant to be out of a single wine selection, much less two! Our cellar was stocked for COVID-19 business levels and then they were suddenly lifted. We are currently buying "all the" wine, and have also hired a sommelier to focus on the wine program exclusively. I would like to invite you back to dine with us, and offer you a wine credit toward a bottle of your choice. Please reach out to Russell at 504-525-8676 to book your next reservation.
We had a lovely dinner. Ambiance is romantic and drinks were spot on. Had the crepes, gumbo, and then the airplane chicken - all food was fabulous. I highly recommend!!!
Thank you for coming in!
Our group is from NOLA but has never been to Tujague’s (I know?!?) We were in the area and booked a reservation for 8:15 and they close at 9. It was such a great dining experience from the moment we got there. They have a great team. Everyone was friendly not just our waiter! We walked around the building to look around and would be greeted by others too.
We sat in the courtyard wish was a great size and has fans. We we’re greeted by our great server, Randy. He was friendly and attentive. The food was incredible! We got the Brussels for an appetizer and they were a lovely sweet and skirt flavor with a nice bit of crisp my char. 2 of us got the shrimp and grits and the other person got lamb. It was all very well prepared. The shrimp and grits were so savory and decadent. I’m still craving them the next day (yum!). We had mentioned in the beginning of the meal that we would get their famous grasshopper drink for desert. But we were SO FULL there’s no way we could’ve ordered it. When we asked for the check Randy also brought us a cordial glass of the Grasshopper. It was a small sample of the drink that was just perfect the end the evening. It was so thoughtful. Go check out Tujague’s! We regret it took us so long to go.
We are happy that you decided to have dinner with us, and that we scored a "home run" with locals. We hope to see you again soon!
Dinner with future husband, beautiful evening.
We're glad ya'll enjoyed everything.
Music was too loud to talk.
Most food good but turtle soup not. No olive oil for bread. Whole restaurant had no olive oil?
Service was not so good.
I do apologize for the volume levels of the music. We do not serve our bread with olive oil unless requested, and we also have olive oil in the restaurant. Can you please provide me with the time and reservation name used when you dined with us, so than I can identify why you were told otherwise? This should have been a non-issue!
