Tujague's is the second oldest restaurant in New Orleans. This French Quarter institution has been serving traditional New Orleans cuisine to locals and visitors alike for more than 160 years.

Lore states that brunch originated here, as did the Grasshopper cocktail. Homages to the restaurant's long and colorful history abound within the interior of the building from the classic 19th century architecture to memorabilia on the walls.

Menu items such as the seared gulf fish and the daily gumbo meld French traditions with New Orleans fare and flare. Our famous five course menu is still served nightly; but have no fear, the menu is no longer pre-fixe, so those less ravenous diners can join in too.

If you want a quintessential New Orleans experience filled with history and local fare, Tujague's is your place.

Dined with our daughter and her husband on their honeymoon in New Orleans. Greeted with a smile, seated next to first floor sidewalk view windows and waiter Edmond was very polite and attentive. Food was wonderfully Cajun Creole with nicely blended flavors, seasonings and fresh sides. For the second oldest dining establishment in New Orleans (after Antoine’s) they carry on and earn their reputation for being a comfortable, engaging fine dine establishments. Ended the evening with an on the house complimentary cocktail lagniappe drink 💖

Exceptional and I do mean EXCEPTIONAL dining experience. Given it was late night on Thanksgiving Day all the staff provided over the top service with warm friendly smiles. I will definitely recommend this restaurant despite the extended wait…it’s worth it! All the selections we ordered were exquisitely full of flavor and cooked to perfection.

We were in New Orleans for my daughter's 18th Birthday. Booked reservation for Thanksgiving dinner two months in advance. They overbooked, the lobby and outdoors were incredibly crowded. Finally seated about 80 minutes after our reservation. Then waited for a server, who did not ask us if we wanted anything different to drink. Soup was lukewarm...salad was decent...we did the traditional Turkey dinner...wasn't hot and flavor was meh. Im sure the overbooking contributed to the food. It was a disappointing experience.

Thanksgiving Disaster - had a reservation at 6:00 pm on Thanksgiving. Arrived at 5:45 and customers were spilled out on the sidewalk. Hostess said there was a 15 to 20 minute wait. At the bar, started a conversation with a couple who had a 5:30 reservation. By 7:00, that couple had not been seated. We gave up waiting, walked down the street and found a fantastic restaurant with a table open.

We had a 5:45pm reservation on Thanksgiving Day, and showed up promptly. The place was mobbed with dozens and dozens of people packed in the bar, all with 5:30pm or 5:45 reservations. We had all been told to just wait. After an hour we left. Terrible management. Our Thanksgiving was ruined.

Unfortunately they accepted way too many reservations for their capacity. Thanksgiving and the place was overflowing with unhappy people. We waited 50 minutes for our table, then another 20 minutes for food to begin to arrive. Typically in this situation there as a) acknowledgment and b) reparation- in this case there was neither. Throw some inexpensive champagne on a tray and pass it around to the 30 people waiting- apologize- do something. Great restaurants make it right- it is not on par w the greats- it’s okay.

It was thanksgiving. We had a reservation but had to wait for it. When our table was ready after about 15 mins, the table was placed right in the walkway. Every server and guest walked right by my head and brushed against my chair. I would have liked more space. I was worried someone would bump my elbow while I cut my food. The service was a little slow but I enjoyed that. It was a lot of food I wanted to enjoy. The food tasted great but my entree was a little cold when I received it. The soup was good but had shellfish in it which my husband couldn’t eat and they didn’t have an alternative. It would have been nice for him to get something else. I’m still thankful I got to eat amazing food instead of cook myself. Our server was great.

Accepting it was a public holiday and a set menu, it filled the purpose of our dining. The turkey dinner was very tasty, but the duck was dry and not particularly flavourful. Both mains were barely warm. Service was very disappointing. A starting glass of champagne was served after the soup, dishes were removed when barely finished. Dessert was served as the dinner plate was removed, as was the bill. Never did the waitress great us with a smile or ‘Happy Thanksgiving’.

I was surprised Tujaque’s was not in the original location anymore but I got over that quickly with the new location which is pleasantly decorated downstairs. What made my Thanksgiving wonderful was that every course was delicious and that was everything! The oyster and eggplant soup was celestial. The choices on the menu were stellar. This gourmand was happy with the dining experience!👏👏👏!

Thanksgiving lunch Pri Fixe meal. The service was awful, the attention to what was ordered at the table was 75%. The dishes served were very nice. The letdown was the time it took to get served , the terrible attention to hearing what you ordered cresting a level of stress there should never be.

We came for Thanksgiving lunch. We were seated right away which was nice. It took over an hour just to get to the second course salad. We weren’t offered a drink menu and had to ask for something besides water. My husband ended up having to go to the bar just to get iced tea. We got our soup which was good but lukewarm. Then about 30 mins later we were brought our spoons for dessert. We let the waiter know we hadn’t gotten our salads or entrees yet. We had to ask several times for a kids menu before we were told what the options were. The table next to us was waiting an extremely long time too and seemed just as frustrated. The salad finally came and it was good. The Thanksgiving entree came about 1.5 hours after we arrived. It was okay. The dessert was good but by then we were just so ready to leave. The waiter left the bill portfolio at the table but forgot to put the bill in it so we had to wait again for the bill. It was chaos and not typical of the service or food we normally have there. It definitely wasn’t worth the $500 we spent.

The welcome was disappointing. We waited at the front of the restaurant for at least five minutes before we were noticed. The food was well prepared. The service, amiable but spotty. Because there were two servers alternating in their attention to our table, some details were missed. E.g., the wine followed service of the entree by several minutes. This good restaurant was not at its best on our evening.

two of us had dinner on Friday Nov. 18, 2033. It was our first visit since they moved and we were very disappointed. The new quarters are larger and comfortable but the charm is gone. Gone also is a bartender who can mix drinks. We turned back three of five ordered as being poorly made or not the drink ordered. The wait staff is good as are the appetizers—we had four—but the mains are ordinary . The traditional dishes of New Orleans are gone. We removed from our NOLA guide.

Tujague's had been recommended to us, but we got lazy and couldn't get a 7:00 reservation on the night we wanted. Not a problem--we got an early reservation at 5:30, and that worked beautifully. We loved the ambiance, and the food was really special in every way. Just the sort of experience we wanted as visitors from far away!

Kurz nachgefragt: “Oh well, I need to doublecheck …”. Nach einer angemessenen Weile kommen die Vorspeise. wir sitzen noch immer auf dem Trockenen. “Oh, Cocktails? How about the wine?”. “Oh, so sorry …”

Arrived early for reservations (20year anniversary) we asked the hostess if we can carry our bar tab to the table, she said yes. Our table was ready, went to leave the bar and the bartender yells to us to please close our tab. Ok we feel like jerks. We get seated, and a waiter left a tray on the seat and my husband sat on a sticky tray with his good pants. The food was mediocre, my grits were not hot. They did give use a free glass of champagne at the end. Wish it was better, we had big expectations, wanted a real New Orleans restaurant.

Starting with the drinks- we ordered 2 very dry vodka martinis- we got 2 martinis swimming in sweet vermouth- undrinkable. Wedge salad and gumbo were good. The 2 fish entrees came out cold and had to be sent back- returned after everyone else had finished their meals. Bread plates on every table but no bread available- other tables also asked about this. One pork chop entree was good the other was dry and tough. They were on a bed of mashed sweet potatoes and greens that had an overly “orange juice” flavor but that’s personal preference. We were there in June and loved it but the extra dining areas were not open then- perhaps the staff and kitchen were overwhelmed- didn’t hold a candle to our dinner and service at GW Fins the night before. Hope they get the kitchen and bar straightened out as we have always liked them at their old location and the one time we went in June
