Went with friends and had full dinner in the lounge. Taylor was our cocktail waitress and was so great! Super sweet and attentive, she really made the dinner an awesome experience.
We shared lobstercargot (amazing!), salad, prime king crab and a filet. Everything was delicious - don’t forget about their rolls and save room for their massive desserts!
The ambience and live music were a nice touch and we never felt like we couldn’t hear each other (I feel like some restaurants have insanely loud volume). Can’t wait to go back!
I was looking forward to the fried perch. What I was served was inedible. It tasted like a pre-breaded and frozen product that was warmed up before serving. I left most of it on the plate. Our server never stopped by to see how we liked the food. When she came to pick up the dishes, she asked if I wanted mine boxed. Never occurred to her to ask if there was something wrong with the food. The brussel sprouts were so hard, you could hardly cut into them. It's a lovely restaurant but I'll never return even to order something else.
My wife and had a wonderful time. My wife had the black bass. The freshest fish either of us have tasted recently. I had the turf and surf. The steak was cooked to my liking and very tender. The lobster was very fresh. Had a new one waitress who was as great. Certainly recommend Trulucks. A great value!
Requested a table in the dinning room, near the windows. However, somewhat distracting seeing those walking outside. Something to consider next visit!
Great food and service!
Some problems with the meals. The manager was quick to take care of it. Much appreciated.
Ordered sausage flatbread. I asked the mgr if it was supposed to be served cold. Obviously not.
Ordered shrimp cocktail. Very fishy smelling. Mgr took care of it. Entrees were fine. Dessert was fine, including complimentary birthday dessert. Thank you.
For the reputation and prices, appetizer issues should never have happened.
It was very close to where we stayed, so I chose that place as our daughter was using clutches. It was a very enjoyable experience. Food was delicious, everything was perfect. Even my picky daughter finished her steak and asked for more. Seafood, appetizers, cocktail, wine, desert, lobster and steak, all beyond our expectation. Waiters and waitresses were attentive. We will definitely be back next time in Chicago. Nice job!
Ah, selection of BGM was a bit questionable. Not sure why. Intentional?
Consistently good food. The service is usually good with occasional hiccups. The bar area is beautiful with great music. Mgmnt tries to hinder dancing though. My suggestion? Don't play dance music if you don't want people to dance. They should remove 1 or 2 tables by the piano for dancing. We would go there more often if they did.
Everything was perfect, but the manager on duty had a extremely bad vibe. I ask him a question and he talked to me as if he was a robot. Was not warm and friendly to (us)...I even ask him if he was like this with everyone and he just looked at me with a dead look on his face and then walked away. I ask if the General manager was in the server said yes and she told her I was I wanted to see her. She came and was extremely pleasant and made up for the manager rudeness. Everything else was 5 stars
Loved the food and service. However, the basic bar cocktails at the bar needed some help.
From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed as if old friends. We were seated in a lovely large booth with ambient lighting, suitable for a romantic dinner for two. Our waiter greeted us promptly and was absolutely wonderful throughout. The live music was a definite plus, as well. The only suggestion I would have is that the seating be thought out a bit more, if possible. Our quiet romantic setting was somewhat disrupted by a larger boisterous party that was seated right next to us, just before our appetizer arrived. It took away some of the setting for us, but otherwise, it was a great evening. We will definitely return.
Service and food were excellent, however, the pace of the meal seemed rushed
The restaurant is elegant, including having a great table/booth. The food was outstanding. Large portions, perfectly cooked, and coupled with an excellent and not over the top price-wise bordeaux . Especially noteworthy were the S. African lobster tails with crab cake on the top.
Management and staff were SO accommodating due to our last minute reservation and dress code attire. They could’ve turned us away, however, they were extremely welcoming and inviting. The service and food was impeccable! We will be dining at Trulucks when we visit Chicago.
Their social hour menu is great. We had shrimp cocktail, wine, and an old-fashioned. The shrimp was wonderful and the presentation (dry ice) was impressive. At dinner, a caesar salad was shared. It was ok. Entrees included snapper (day's special) and it was good. Another was the miso glazed sea bass. The fish was wonderful, but the crab-fried rice was basically non-existent. The perch was a good option too. Asparagus was also shared and would recommend.
I'm updating my review from a few months ago!
The service this time was fabulous- I will easily go from 2 stars to 5.
Food was wonderful and served perfectly. Wine selection was great and they had exactly what we were requesting! Shawn, the manager was even nice enough to tale time out of his day and call to make sure we were pleased with service. That is great customer service an for that we will continue coming to Truluck's!
Everything about this meal was amazing! The service was outstanding, the food was delicious and the environment was intoxicating. Hands-down one of the most memorable and delicious meals I’ve ever had. And I’ve had a lot of amazing meals in my time.
First of all, the space is gorgeous. I was doing a late lunch close to my hotel (Talbott), so it was pretty chill and not crowded. You're met at the door very formally, welcomed, and given a great table. I took advantage of the prix fixe Power Lunch - 3 courses for $30. Great deal! It started off with a bang - over the top bread and butter (sounds silly, but you'll see when you visit), an outstanding lobster bisque, a nice beef medallions main course, followed by a tasty creme brulee. The main and dessert did not come up to the bisque, but were fine. Service is a bit old-school bossy waitress style, but super friendly and accommodating. A caveat: I am from San Francisco and we just don't eat like this (big, rich portions). Definitely give Truluck's a thumbs up.
Está delicioso todo, desde el pan hasta el postre. Nos gustó muchísimo. El lugar muy lindo
Great service from reception through busboy. Food quality was outstanding. 7 people for business dinner everyone was happy with menu. Wine list was great and not priced over the top.
Great service. Great food
Food good and loved the music , think it’s my new steak house when in Chicago . Steak excellent
Great job as usual. Thank you!!!
Food was amazing, live music, nice bar, manager came to our table to make sure everything is good and also sent a desert to our table !! We had the best experience there! Will go back again for sure!
We had an amazing time at Truluck’s! Their social hour was great! Their live music was spectacular! My boyfriend had a lobster tail and I had the New York strip both were delicious! My server was very knowledgeable about the menu. They brought out this over the top desert for my boyfriend’s birthday. They literally lit the cake on fire! Overall it was such a lovely way to to spend his birthday.
I think our waitress was new so she didn’t seem to get our drink orders before she presented the crab leg presentation. The food was great tho
We were hosting 3 suppliers from China and wanted to offer them a 1st class experience since they had done so for us many times.
The food, service and ambiance were excellent and I have to say that our waiter Michael made the whole experience even better. He interacted with us (but not overly so) and provided great, friendly service and suggestions that enhanced our experience.
The live music (guy at the piano) paired perfectly with our time there. Nice, soft music that was not overbearing.
I've been going to Chicago for more than 30 years and Truluck's is definitely in the top 5. Definitely going back.
The service, food, ambiance was outstanding. Our waiter was simply amazing he made sure we were completely satisfied.
We couldn't have asked for more for my birthday celebration! They went above and beyond from beginning to end, and the food was absolutely delicious. The dessert was incredible! I'll be back!
We were there for the International House Wares Show, John Boos' Boos Blocks cutting boards are the preferred cutting boards for many chefs in America and Europe. We were very pleased with the food, service and ambiance; after a day of working the trade show, it was a welcoming experience.
We were crammed in to a room where the grumpy waiter couldn’t possibly move between tables. Had to help clear our own dishes. All that for close ton$200 a person. Yay
The service was quick but felt that the waiter was a bit pushy .
We celebrated my Fiance's 30th birthday at Truluck's Restaurant. The service was amazing! They had confetti sprinkled on the table and brought out a champagne toast upon arrival. At the end of dinner we received a birthday dessert with writing "Happy 30th Birthday". Truckluck's really made dinner a special event for us! Food was delicious, steaks were cooked perfectly. I would highly recommend!
Our waitress was attentive but a very nervous jittery - hurried personality... it was less than relaxing ( and it was on a slow weekday evening )
I’ve been a waitress myself... this was abnormal behavior
Excellent live music!
My salmon was basic.. is nothing to it.. basic grilled salmon 40 bucks wasn’t worth it and my asparagus tasted store bought..
Training issues. Did not lead with taking our drink order. Did not seem to understand we wanted a bottle of wine. Did not know the wine list and understand that there is no way that every wine listed under the Cabernet and Blend list is one, the other and not both.
This was the best customer service and attention I've ever experienced in a restaurant. We made last minute reservations via Open Table, 4 of us in town on business, one celebrating a birthday. We arrived and were immediately seating. As soon as we sat down the manager came over, put his card down and wanted to make sure the evening was great. We had Reese as a waiter (cool story - he's been to every continent, every state and in his late 20's) he was attentive all night. Food was spectacular - wide variety of steak, lobster, fish we ordered, all clean plates. Baked Alaska shared as a dessert. It was simply perfect - even an email by the manager when I got home making sure all was good. Could not imagine a better experience! Thank you all.
Incredible service from many people. We were not sure exactly who we were leaving a tip for as so many people had been interested in assuring we had a nice evening! The quality and presentation of the food was excellent and pricing very fair. Anxious to return!
