About this restaurant

  • Great for fine wines
  • Good for special occasions
  • Neighborhood gem
2025: retained 2 Michelin stars!

Trivet derives from the age-old cooking utensil - an iron tripod placed over fire to support a cooking pot or kettle - reflecting the warmth and balance which forms Head Chef Jonny Lake and Master Sommelier Isa Bal’s values for the restaurant, as well as their working relationship.

From the very beginning of the creative process, Jonny, Isa and the team think about how food and drink work together. The menu features their explorations of ingredients, dishes and drinks from around the world, inspired by the culinary history and diversity around us. The wine list is set out chronologically, following the historic beginnings of wine to present day, with over 350 wines from classic producers to the New World, as well as acknowledging the root of viti-vinoculture with wines from Georgia, Armenia and Turkey.

As well as the welcoming main dining room, Trivet has a terrace, wine bar and private dining space. Join us also for Mondays at Trivet Wine Bar!

Ambience lacking (not really a Saturday night venue, felt more like a city lunchtime place to entertain clients), service not as attentive as would have liked - staff looked slightly bored, with the exception of the lady who greeted us. We had to ask to be moved inside after our drinks, ask for the wine menu and no advice given on wines unless prompted. Felt more like a brasserie with expensive food! The food was good but not exceptional. The whole experience just lacked an edge for us. It was our wedding anniversary and although it was good of them to acknowledge it, a glass of bubbles would have been a nice gesture perhaps rather than a post card signed by the staff - it didn't really mean anything! I doubt we will be back.

I'd been looking forward to dining at Trivet for quite a while, but sadly I was underwhelmed by the meal. The restaurant itself is beautiful and the staff friendly but I have buts... Firstly, the wine list is ridiculously and unnecessarily long. The starters were fine but both overly seasoned. I had sweetbreads and the reduction was delicious but too strong for the meat. The panko coating was also a little thick, so the sweetness of the meat disappeared and one was overcooked. The risotto was good but verging on over-salted. My duck main was very tasty but nothing particularly interesting. The warm melon in the dish was new to me but so strong with vinegar or other acid that it made me cough! My husband's lamb dish on the other hand, was delicious and a generous portion of three chops, whereas I had 5 thin slices of duck, probably a third of a breast. I was glad I ordered the fries on the side because it was a very small portion. Desserts were pleasant, but small and again, nothing to wow. The whisky macaron with coffee was tasty, but the single, tiny canelé was dry and bitter. There were things to enjoy, it wasn't a bad meal, it just wasn't as well-cooked as I would expect for the cost and reputation, and had clumsy mistakes. It was definitely a case of style over content.

Dining at Trivet was nothing short of an exquisite culinary journey—elevated, intimate, and effortlessly sophisticated. From the moment we arrived, the ambiance struck the perfect balance between understated luxury and warm hospitality. We began our meal with the veal sweetbreads, delicately prepared and bursting with flavor—tender, rich, and masterfully balanced by subtle textures. Paired with a crisp, elegant white wine, it set the tone for the evening with a quiet opulence that lingered. For the main course, I chose the Not So Crispy Duck—a playful name that belied its sheer excellence. Cooked to perfection, each bite melted in the mouth, harmonizing beautifully with the accompanying potato, fava beans, and brioche. The dish was rustic yet refined, elevated without pretension. My mother selected a rosé and enjoyed the bread and butter, a simple pleasure that exemplified Trivet’s meticulous attention to detail—even in its most minimalist offerings. The surprise pea and mint gazpacho, served as an amuse-bouche, was a refreshing interlude—bright, vibrant, and perfectly seasonal. For dessert, the Hokkaido Potato—yes, a potato-based dessert—was a stroke of genius. Creamy, light, and delicately sweet, it exemplified Trivet’s fearless creativity and originality. We concluded the evening with a final flourish: macarons served as petit fours—airy, indulgent, and perfectly crafted. Trivet doesn’t simply serve food; it tells a story with each course. Every detail—from plating to pacing—feels intentional, luxurious, and deeply personal. This wasn’t just dinner. It was an experience. One I will absolutely return for.

We visited the Trivet after reading about the signature dish, chicken with vinegar sauce. The visit was amazing, with a very observant service, fantastic food and great wines. I am hoping to be able to return again!

Nothing special food taste very normal a bit salty. It felt like they have staff shortage. The restaurant was very hot and humid I don’t know why they decided to open door and not turn on air con when it’s super hot outside. You could smell cigarettes and weed from the street.

Third time at Trivet, it is outstanding in every way. Friendly, engaging and knowledgeable service, great and interesting wine list and perfect suggestions from the sommelier. The food is sublime, full of bold flavour but beautifully balanced, the turbot dish I had may be my favourite of all time. It's always a good sign when you get a spoon with your cutlery for starter and main, you know you are going to get fabulous sauces, and plenty of them! Love it hear, can't wait to come back.

One of the best eating experiences. Food - outstanding (especially the Turbot and Ducks dishes 😋) service - impeccable. Also, Jonny Lake spent a good 5 minutes discussing the food, story of food and the industry and was an amazing experience - thank you for an outstanding evening.
