Trattoria Il Panino
and back of the house form a desirable marriage. The entrance on 260 Hanover street has a full liquor license.
Need to book at 9:45 AM?Other great restaurants with availability.
So many options in the north end, Trattoria Il Panino is still my favorite place. The host gave me a warm welcome, while Dave helped me pick a delectable dish, if you like mushrooms and a white sauce, I highly recommend it. I enjoyed in espresso after my dinner and the coffee was excellent! Overall amazing restaurant and fantastic service. Extremely cozy area perfect for a date night.
Nothing but amazing all the time! Keep on killing it in that kitchen back there! Ravioli Porcini out of this world along with everything else!
INCREDIBLE FOOD. I got the puttanesca with the most flavorful sauce, and then asked them to make me a side of broccoli rabe which was DELICIOUS and only 5 dollars. I seriously love this place and can't wait to go back.
Il Panino is always top notch! Food, service, consistency. Would highly recommend.
My waitress was awesome.
The helpers brought out our dinner when we were in the middle of eating our apps. We had to ask them to hold it which I hate doing.
My sons dish was excellent. Mine not very good. I ordered pasta with lobster and Fry Diabolo sauce and it was not ever close. Not spicy at all other then the jalapeños which should not be in that sauce.
We felt rushed. The server was great but it seemed like there was a big to turnover tables which took some of the enjoyment away. Food was excellent.
Food was great all the wait staff were incredible drinks were also very nice food came out quick
We’d heard very good things from friends but when we went we thought the food was good but nothing that blew us off our feet. I had the gnocchi it was above average but again nothing to rave about.
Very delicious food. Quick and friendly service.
We had a great meal with a nice bottle of wine, only down side was our table was near the door and it was freezing every time someone opened the door.
Service was very disappointing. We felt very rushed, timing of the food was off (starter salads came out with the entrees), did not offer dessert, cordials, or coffee/espresso. When we asked they told us to go across the street if we wanted coffee and dessert.
Wonderful menu options. Everything was top quality. Waiter very attentive. We highly recommend.
Great place, great service! everything is great. This time I got the lobster ravioli and the sauce was delicious
Awesome veal chop
Food is AAA+ Octopus salad great. Excellent crusty bread. Seabass special was expertly done. My mother’s chicken parm was top notch. Service was just OK. Waiter was not very attentive. Atmosphere was fair awkward outdoor cramped seating covered by plastic.
We had dinner with friends at Trattoria II Panino last weekend. The service and food were very good. We sat downstairs which was not my favorite place. It was stuffy and loud. I would recommend the restaurant but would recommend having dinner on street level.
I went there with my 12 year old son and we both loved it. The waiter was incredibly patient in advising us on the menu and both my vegetarian antipasto plate and my son’s Paccheri al ragu were fantastic. Quickly seating and service too. I’d definitely go again.
When I made this reservation, I was not aware there are two sides to this establishment. One side only serves wine/beer but I had been looking forward to a martini all day. Plus the heaters they had on in the patio (wine/beer) side were literally searing the top of our heads.
The waitress moved us over to other side only to be BERATED by owner/manager in front of everyone. He was upset she took one of his tables and he had people waiting. I was ready to leave to take the heat off her but she said it was fine. We only saw one group of men at the bar and they said were finishing up drinks and in no rush so not sure what all the commotion was about. I did not see any more groups coming in clamoring because they could not be seated. Owner/manager kept looking at us and I felt really uncomfortable during our dining experience. The cocktails were great though and the food was very good and our waitress was lovely.
I saw the manager/owner fussing over two "beautiful" people at the bar as we were leaving and as my dinner mate brought up his unprofessionalism to him he made no excuses and continued his arrogance almost as if to show off in front of them.
Maybe this is the standard behavior in Boston when dining so I will know better for the next time.
The food was excellent and the restaurant is really cute.
Charcuterie app was sub par for the price 2 small squares of the same cheese and bologna on there...??? Not worth $19.00. Entrees were amazing, lamb chops and also lobster. Server was terrible, attitude and not attentive nor welcoming.
Had reservations for 4 people at 6 PM and was promptly seated and greeted by our waiter Marco. Informed of specials and drinks and appetizers ordered while we decided on main courses. Appetizers were very tasty and considered of spicy (not overly for those with sensitive pallets) Mussels, Mozzarella Caprese and Calamari Fritti. Wine list is extensive with some great selections in every price range. Mains were fantastic and I had the special pasta of the night which was Lobster and Scallops over hope made pasta. Others were Spaghetti alle Vongole, Spaghetti Carbonara and Porcini Ravioli. All were served hot and fresh from the kitchen. Marco was a very attentive waiter with some great suggestions. First time I have been to this Restaurant but it will not be my last.
The dining food and service were decent except for one thing - our server told us that liquor is not served at the restaurant but then we proceeded to see the table next to us get served cocktails. They appeared to know the server personally so perhaps that explains it, but it was frustrating to see others enjoy cocktails when the same was not afforded to us.
Great food and service!! The atmosphere was awesome and just what we were looking for to get together with our family.
We’ve always loved everything about Trattoria Il Panino, but now when we ask for a spicy version of the pasta sauce, we get jalapeños in it. What??! This is Italian food, not Mexican (don’t get me wrong, I love Mexican food, but we came for Italian). Shame you don’t serve the pasta in the actual pan you cook it in anymore. Great service as always, just wish you’d go back to authentic. DITCH THE JALAPEÑOS. Sadly, you’ve lost two long time customers.
Loved our waiter! He was great, funny and very quick with service. Food was amazing as always. LOVE the porcini ravioli.
Some of the best dining in the North End. Absolutely excellent. Great variety on menu. Service impeccable.
Even with a reservation in the main dining room, they moved us to the side patio out the door and a short walk around the corner to a different entrance which was a tent with heaters. It felt like the hosts were quite somewhat snappy with us when we tried to explain that we already had a reservation. We agreed that this patio may be nice in the summer time if the tent was down and exposed to the outdoors. Needless to say, our romantic nye dinner date turned out to feel not so romantic anymore. It was cold and loud enough that we couldn’t hear each other talk at a 2-person table. The food was pretty good and reasonably priced. We had mussels and zucchini flowers to start. Zucchini flowers were yummy. For my entree, I had the ravioli porcini and it was delicious- I would definitely order this again. My date had the ragu bolognese and neither of us were too impressed with the sauce. Good but nothing super special. At the end of our entrees, the server brought our check and sat it on the table. We were not offered dessert, coffee or cappuccinos. This was a turn off as well. Overall, it was nice and we didn’t let these small turnoff ruin our time, but it wasn’t quite what we expected.
The service was great! The food overall was just ok. The chicken parm was amazing everything else was nothing special.
4 of us had New Year Eve dinner. We had pasta for the main course..the fruiti de mare, regu, carbonara, and the quattro. All of us loved how the pasta was cooked. The portion was not too big or too small. I rated the service as 3 star bc the person who waited on us 1. Didn't bring us all the neccessary things needed (eg. No ice for my coke, no grated parmesan cheese until we finished our dipping breads, etc..); 2. She also rushed us out of the table instead of asking if we want desserts.. we were there for approximately 1 hour... It was not like we were lingering. It was disappointing. Nonetheless, the food was very good. I will definitely be back.
Excellent place...very reasonable. Make a reservation. Also, if it's winter, be aware that the "patio" is heated, but the doors open frequently so the servers can come and go. Might be a bit chilly....we moved into the main room. Typical North end place....tight for space and they use every inch of the place. We'll be back.
Great place for a date night or a special occasion! Food was great in every way and perfectly portioned.
I was underwhelmed with the quality of the food. Portions were on the smaller side. Overall just ok experience. Wouldn’t return. Wine cellar basement is cool.
I was really hoping some amazing chicken parm. It was two thick chicken breasts with little cheese. Almost tasted like bell and Evans frozen breasts.
We have been here a few times and have loved it every time! The food is outstanding and reasonably priced. It does get noisy, but that is to be expected. The service has always been prompt and friendly. One of our favorites in the north end!
Service was quick and food was delicious!
Their penne puntunesca is the best in the world, and yes, this includes Rome.
Any homemade pasta at Trattoria is a must! This was our first trip and will certainly be back.
Not worth the money. Super expensive and food was cold and not that tasty. Waitresses were in a hurry, forgot things and were running in the hallways. Very loud and not family friendly.
