Trattoria Il Panino
and back of the house form a desirable marriage.
We were erroneously given an extra starter which we returned. However, same was charged in the bill
Excellent dinner with a very personable and helpful server. The best sauce I have ever had.
Our waiter was charming and did an excellent job, the food was excellent, as was the wine. I would have preferred not to sit downstairs beside a large and VERY loud group but I guess that was just our bad luck.
With all the choices for authentic Italian food in Boston’s North End, we had a hard time deciding on a restaurant. Selecting Trattoria Il Panino, though, was absolutely the right choice. We started with the eggplant appetizer and it was the best eggplant I’ve ever had, served in a sauce that had me wanting to lick the plate. Our entrees also did not disappoint. My dining partner had lasagna and I had a hearty pasta in a meat sauce. It was heaven! Cannot give this place enough stars!
Meals we had were excellent. Waiter was very friendly
Amazing homemade pasta! Lively atmosphere. Generous portions
The food was amazing!! We will definitely be back.
Friendly and accommodating staff! Felt like family!
great! all round the best. great food, waitstaff, price
Delicious food I a great setting. We wanted to eat yummy Italian in the North End and this place delivered
Wonderful and quaint restaurant. Great for a date night. The food was delicious!!
You won't be disappointed.
Service and food were wonderful! We will definitely return and recommend!
Amazing- Get the Pacheri El Ragu! Service was great!
The restaurant was incredibly noisy, and we were seated right by the kitchen, which made it even worse. We asked repeatedly to be re-sat elsewhere, and the restaurant was unwilling to accommodate our request. We saw another table that could work for us, and they said they needed to save it for a party. 10 minutes later, they split that table to make room for two different groups of 2 diners. We could barely hear each other over the loudness--I wouldn't describe the noise level as "energetic" at all. It was just loud. The food was really good, but it would have been nice to enjoy the whole experience.
Great food as always!
We enjoyed a variety of foods. The gnocchi was exceptional and those ordering the lasagna and chicken parmigiana loved their entrees. We will definitely return!
It was so hot in both bar and restaurant even the workers complained! Food was so-so very acidic and I would not recommend or go back! Just a terrible experience especially how hot it was we were sitting sweating which made it that much worse.
The food was very good, but the ambiance was not good. We were placed at a corner table with six people. It was a hot evening and it was very hot in the corner. Also, when our main course was delivered, we asked 3 times before dirty plates from our appetizers were finally removed from our table. In addition, the restrooms were filthy. Unfortunately, we will not recommend this restaurant to our friends.
The mushroom ravioli is a trip to heaven and back
One of our best dining experiences ever! We will be back!
Phenomenal Italian food! I had the Paccheri el Ragu and my husband had the Ossobucco. Both were to die for. We also had the meatballs for an appetizer and were equally impressed. Service was great, but restaurant is very busy and loud. Worth it for the level of food you get to eat, however!
Went for my birthday and ate on the patio, which was beautiful. Service was amazing and the food was to do die for. Highly recommend the mushroom ravioli!
Since I have been to II Panino many times, this time wasn't as good as prior times. First, they forgot my Husband's Ceasar Salad when they brought out he appetizers and we had to ask about this. It came out with not romaine lettuce and my Husband thought the dressing wasn't homemade - it tasted like bottled dressing - I agreed as I tried it and we sent this back. Meals were good but the main issue we had was we had to request things over and over again. Both my Husband and I agreed we wouldn't be running back to the restaurant anytime soon.
Food was good. Should not have to ask for serving spoons to share appetizers. Also, they screwed up my order. I ordered seabass (was the fish of the day) but they gave me swordfish. I didn’t see swordfish on the menu.
Had a great meal here - totally satisfied my craving for traditional Northern Italian cuisine. Zucchini blossoms and Osso Buco were both very good (though the latter was a touch salty) and our waiter was very friendly and helpful. Go to Mike’s Pastry up the street for dessert (Trattoria I’ll Panino’s cannoli was ok, but not the best I’ve had).
Super Italian food in an authentic string with a great wait staff. Valet parking is expensive but worth it any night of the week. Chicken parmigiana was excellent.
Good food and service but we went on a very hot night and were on the patio. No tables with AC available
Delicious food and beautiful setting! We were sat right away downstairs and had a wonderful time.
Food is always fantastic.
Vacationing in Boston and day at the bar for early dinner. Not sure why the side order of veggies came out about 10 min after my dinner was served. Only glitch. Other than that we had a good time. Bit pricey but maybe that's the area of town.
Been there a couple of times, it's an amazing restaurant. Their Al Ragu sauce is absolutly stunning and I got the Zuchinni flower starter and it was awsome too.
Wine card was also well balanced in style and price.
Lovely dinner with excellent food. Can’t wait to go back. I already know what to try next from a menu of Italian favorites.
The staff was polite. They kept us waiting for 45 minutes when we had a reservation. Pasta dishes were good. My husband's veal dish had two pieces of veal, one of which he could not cut through with a steak knife. The waiter was professional and aplolgized. He took the wine off the bill. Seemed a little "touristy" for us, maybe the "out-of-towners" are giving it good reviews. Not bad, but better choices are available in the North End.
We did not like our server. He brought me milk in a wine glass when I asked for a coffee after dinner. My meal was fair. Veal was tender but the risotto was swimming in olive oil. The bread was good but only olive oil and no butter also no vegetable with the meal.. The wine list per glass was very limited. We were never given a desert menu as well.
The best part of the evening was the parade on Hanover St. We will not return to this restaurant.
With all of the restaurants in the North End I wouldn’t go back. Food was not great. It was so noisy. Like a machine shop! A disappointment.
Sorry to report that pesto was fairly flavorless, pasta was not quite al dente, a little undercooked and firm. Service was not good for the value, on the upside pretty decent wine list. So many places to choose from in north end, will try others.
We arrived 10 minutes before our reservation time on a Sunday evening and we were sat right away. Our server was TERRIBLE. He was young and rude. Did not even ask us what we wanted to order, we had to request our server to order. He walked away immediately after us ordering our appetizer which did not give us time to order our entree. Our appetizer was served by someone else and we still had not ordered our main course and still had our menus. Once we placed our order, it took 1 hour for our food to come out. When we asked the server what was taking so long, he had a rude response stating “it takes time.” Did not even offer to check on our meal. Once we finally got our food it came out cold. The server also did not tell us his name so we were unable to complain to manager but he was young with glasses- AWFUL service.
First time. Not the best first experience. Seated nearly 30 minutes after our rsv. Not enough glasses in the restaurant for the prosecco we ordered Wine glasses and water glasses were not clean. Not enough knives for the table. Food was good. Service was fine. Waiter helpful. Will try one more time but not right away.
An Italian restaurant that knows Italian food. Lobster ravioli is very well done. Service was somewhat slow, it was very loud, and the lighting was dim.
