Trattoria Il Panino
and back of the house form a desirable marriage. The entrance on 260 Hanover street has a full liquor license.
Tratorria II Panino is an exceptional dining experience! Right from the start, our server was warm and friendly, very helpful with the menu, and so nice. The food was amazing - best lasagna I have ever had! We loved it and can't wait to return the next time we are in Boston. Come here for dinner!
Peiro and Maria were great! Will be back soon!
Love how they serve the dishes in pans.
Awful service. The woman that was attending us (who seemed to be the owner) was being rude to everyone (well, just the customers. She was overly friendly with the waiters), screaming about people wanting to enter through the wrong door, hurrying us to order, then to pay. The food way too expensive, the place way too hot.
Wonderful family meal with excellent food and service
Amazing as always, love this restaurant. Service and food quality is why I have been coming back for 20 years.
Experience was fine. The stuffed chicken breast I ordered was a bit dry; however, the pork chop that my husband ordered was cooked to perfection. I think they are renovating their main restaurant, so we ended up in the original restaurant. Tables were incredibly close together and it was so noisy.
The waiter was really nice!
Terrific service backed up by fantastic food, I have to say I have never had a server tell me the tip was too much. It was well deserved!
See you again soon.
Great food. One guy doing it all, good for him. Would return.
The restaurant caught on fire and had to evacuate the building while we are eating
Delicious Italian cuisine and delightful service by all! Many optione, the white sangria is nice and fruity!
Food was good. It was cold in the outside room. Snowing heavily and started snow on us.
Other than that, everything was great! Will be back
My favorite Boston restaurant. They do great calamari, caprese salad with buffala mozzarella, and many pasta & meat choices, all delicious!
By far our best meal when we were visiting Boston!
This was my husband and my first visit to Boston and we picked Trattoria Panino for dinner one night. We were very satisfied with the quick service and tasty food. I got the chicken parmigiana and my husband got the gnocchis. Both meals were fantastic. The bread was excellent as well!
This was my first dining experience at Trattoria il Panino and it is safe to say this will be my last. From the food to the service, the experience was at the bottom of dining options on Hanover Street.
Let’s start with the seating. I’m ok with the typical tight knit intimate seating that you experience in the North End, but when you deviate from your less than optimal floor plan and move tables to accommodate straggling members to surrounding parties this puts a burden on access to the kitchen and restrooms. The walkways were so tight that I was bumped when any guest or waiter made their way down the only path available. I was at my boiling point when I was bumped on the elbow by the fast moving pregnant waitress while I had a fork in my mouth ramming the fork into the side of my cheek. Not complaining about her as it wasn’t her fault that the conditions were too tight.
Let’s move on. Just an observation, but lighting could be brighter as we couldn’t see the food or read the menus. And no I’m not that old.
The food. The lasagna- pre-made, cut, microwaved, plated and some Luke warm sauce ladled on it. Luke warm at delivery. Lobster fra diavolo - I know my lobster and know how to cook lobster. The body/tail were not fresh as stated on the menu and the body/tail is prepared separately from the claw portions. You could tell because the claw was over cooked and stuck to the inside of the claw shell whereas the body/tail had a texture that was similar to a poached egg. Carbonara - this dish was actually the better of the three which changed the food rating from a poor to a fair.
Only strange thing is they use frying pans to present the food in. This is to give the false impression that the food was also prepared in the same pan similar to The Daily Catch. If you want to be the best you’ve got to make the best and stop with the copy cat gimmicks.
I tried a new place and was let down. Good thing there is a huge bar and alcohol sales definitely pay the bills here
The pasta was not "al dente" which is what I would have expected at an italian restaurant. However, the place was very nice and quite romantic, and the service was good. They ran out of desserts, which was a bit disappointing as I was celebrating a birthday and wanted to order a cake.
I asked for a nice table, for a special occasion, one week in advance. Was seated downstairs, so dark I couldn’t read menu, so loud I couldn’t converse with my daughter, so close to everyone else. My food was cold inside, and my daughter’s meatball wasn’t fully cooked inside. Terrible service. Tables are so close together the waiters have to walk sideways. Willnit return as there are better choices.
We were seated in what appeared to be the patio seating for summer, it was closed in (looked like plastic walls with portable heaters hanging from ceiling and tables and chairs were wood slats, with very worn cushions on slatted chairs. Tables so close together that the server bumped my chair every time (I lost count at 11(and this was before we got our dinner)) he passed our table to get to the outer tables. He apologized, but there was not enough room for him to walk through. It was so noisy (including very unhappy baby), that we couldn’t have a conversation. We regretted not getting up and leaving right away. We won’t go back, which is unfortunate as the pasta was pretty good, but definitely not worth the terrible seating experience.
Food is delicious. Great atmosphere and service. Would highly recommend if taking a trip to North End!
Always a great meal! Never disappoints. Quick friendly service and great food!
Service was awful. Waited 45 minutes after finish our meal before our waiter checked in on us. Another 15 minutes to get the check.
Maria the waitress was amazing and so was the food!!!!
Overall it was a great experience. The servers were very slow to come to our table and we had to ask a few times for some service... but once they came over they were very prompt and food came out fast. We had a great time and salmon was amazing!
The Service was terrible and almost non-existent. We had to ask what were the specials of the day. The meal arrived from the kitchen in a timely fashion and served someone other than who was our server who did not attend our needs unless we asked, even for the check. The food was good and a bit too much for one person but we do not need to go back there.
Thumbs up to Maria Delvecchio (our facilitator/entertainer/server)
Great food! We love coming here!
Service and food were outstanding. I was a little disappointed when we were seated in the bar area as I had made this reservation well in advance. The noise level made the experience less than it could have been. Since this was our first time visiting the restaurant, I was not aware that there was a main dining area apart from the bar area. Next time, I’ll know to request different seating.
Food was authentic and delicious.
Our favorite restaurant in the north end. Fantastic atmosphere, makes you feel as if you've been whisked away to Italy. Food is authentic and delicious!
This was our second time at Trattoria II Panino within one month. Very good service and food was great!
One of our favorites in the North End.
You gotta visit Maria- excellent food and service.
We had a wonderful meal and a fantastic overall experience. Our waiter was attentive, thorough and offered great suggestions with selections. The leftovers didn’t go to waste either.
Delish food and the waitstaff was very funny and helpful with orders!
The food was amazing
Great food and great cocktails! !
I had really high hopes for this place after seeing lovely photos, good reviews etc. I lived in the North End for 2 years and never got a chance to eat here so my husband and I made a reservation for this past Saturday night. We were seated in the basement. It had a faint sewerage smell and felt like a dining hall( Dark,Loud, Busy). Our table was seated in the middle of everything, and for the first 10 minutes waiters kept walking by us, all avoiding our table. Finally someone helped us but it felt like we were a burden (We kept having to ask for things- almost having to yell as our waiter zipped by us). We had to eat with our elbows tucked in to avoid being hit by the waitstuff going back and forth to tables. We were in and out within 40 minutes. Food was mediocore at best. It's a shame that these restaurants would rather make a couple more bucks by packing the place with tables instead of having a few less tables, better service and ambiance. Would rather just eat at the bar. Bummer!
The mushroom ravioli with black truffle is amazing.
Fabulous stuffed zucchini blossoms, and Wild mushroom ravioli!
There was a strong toilet / cat litter smell that was somewhat overwhelming. Good service and staff however the smell was unbearable and the ambiance in the basement is not what you’d expect for somewhere that charges $20 + for a pasta dish.
