Trattoria Il Panino
and back of the house form a desirable marriage.
Started with Amarone which was well
Priced for the vintage. Quattro Ragú was unbelievable and the osobucco was even better.
Best food we had had in the north end! Wished I had the opportunity to order a second drink before I finished my meal. Noisy, but it’s all about the food for me so I’ll be back!
As always, a great meal. Love sitting on outdoor patio. The spaghetti carbonara is the best!!
Our waitress brought us the next table’s appetizer. She forgot to put in the order for ours. I had changed my entree order and she acknowledged it, but the original meal came out and then she tried to have my husband eat it. The kitchen argued over it!
The wine was warm, the food was just okay, tasteless. My mushroom risotto came with one single calamari, I wondered if I was allergic. I wouldn't recommend this place. I am sure there are better options in the neighborhood.
Timely reservation. Very nice location, service and atmosphere. Food was good and portions were plenty.
Amazing food, super service, awesome location. The lobster ravioli was superb.
Good menu choices and great location. Outstanding service.
Fantastic everything! Loved it....
After some recent mixed reviews, we were hesitant to try the restaurant. We’re glad we did. We tried several appetizers and they were all very good. Tortellini was delicious. Seafood was fresh. Gnocchi was the only disappointing entree of the five we ordered. Service (Mike) was excellent.
Always a great time
Excellent Italian food and wonderful choice of cocktails!
Probably the best Italian food I have ever had. Everything on the menu is great. Try splitting appetizers if you are in a large group. Calamari and Shrimp appetizer are stand outs. Home made pasta for main or meat lasagna, incredible.
Service is a bit confused and spotty, but eventually it all comes together once the food comes out. Be prepared to wait a half hour to be seated even with a reservation.
Great food that arrived quickly but the cheque took some effort to obtain. Recommend if you want food that reminds you of home.
Ordered Ceaser salad, received different salad. Seafood special has gone downhill. Used to be decadent sea bass. Now it is stringy tough monk fish with mussels.
Trattoria Il Panino was outstanding. We had the vegetable antipasto, mushroom ravioli, and ragu. All were incredible. Portions were generous. It was great to be able to talk in a restaurant without having to yell just to be heard. I live in California, but when I find myself in Boston again, I'll definitely head here.
The best homemade pasta in the North End.
We got there and got seated at the scheduled time, which is awesome because it was really busy. Despite being busy, the service was really fast. I had the Porcini pasta and it was the greatest one yet. It was really loud because we're we're in the basement/wine cellar area, and there were a lot people having energetic conversations there. It was really good!
A very Italian authentic cuisine that we great. Very good wine list and reasonably priced. Meatballs were excellent along with the pastas.
We were a bit delayed in getting to the restaurant and were seated immediately. The restaurant wasnt extremely busy and it took awhile for our waiter to come and ask what we wanted to drink.
Overall, the food was amazing. My lobster ravioli was one of the best pasta dishes I have ever had and the veal that my boyfriend ordered was perfectly cooked. I just wish that our server had been a bit more attentive and friendly.
It was great that they took reservations as most restaurants in that area do not. The food was delicious.
It was extremely loud and hot! We were sweating and miserable waiting for our food. Food was great but the ambiance killed it.
Favorite Boston restaurant. Always consistent. BEST meatballs. Never disappointed.
Very nice place. Great service. Had the special of the day lasagna and my wife had chicken parmigiana. Both good meals
We stopped on a layover and the local ferry captain recommended this gem. We enjoyed lunch so much the first time that we returned on our layover again. The meetball with ricotta appetizer was delectable. We also enjoyed the batter fried zucchini flowers. We shared the lasagna which had 10 layers of perfectly cooked pasta and tasty beef and rich ricotta flavored with the right amount of trouble. Service was top notch! Definitely a place to come soak of the local eats.
Great food but service, not so much. Very loud - bit easy to have a conversation with your dining partner
Great staff, great food ..................................................................🍷🍷
This place was our one meal at the North End. Our friend who lives in Boston recommended it and wow, was it good. Each dish was amazing. Homemade pastas, fresh ingredients, lively atmosphere and friendly service. Highly highly recommend.
Great food with outstanding service. Nice ambiance.
Nothing in this placed wowed me. The charcuterie was consisted of a board with shaved meats -- they tasted like they were cut a while ago. The bread was dense. Mushroom ravioli drenched in a heavy cream sauce -- I thought it was way too rich and heavy. Finally, the shrimp and other seafood in the pasta dish we had were overcooked and rubbery. We ate in the basement room -- it was very noisy. The lack of any draperies and the hard floor really made the noise carry.
We come to Boston every few years and always try and eat at Trattoria Il Pannino. Unfortunately we won’t be back. The food is of very good quality...however the service was unfriendly bordering on rude. The atmosphere was so noisy it was impossible to even converse. We were seated in the basement...avoid...if you can.
Would not recommend nor return due to the noise, basement dining ... and poor service.
Delicious food and nice waiter. Only complaint (and it was significant) was that the male host did not even look at us when we came up to him. Didn't acknowledge us for about 10 minutes as we stood there waiting. We had a reservation but he did not say anything to us or give us the opportunity to let him know this. Finally he just said "follow me" and brought us to a table in the downstairs room with no greeting. We sat down and then one of us went back to tell him we had a reservation. He then came back to the table and took us to another table (that was obviously the one reserved for us) in the upstairs room. They were very busy, but the host definitely didn't get the experience off to a good start. Will return for the food though!
The best in boston
Wonderful spot in the North End for authentic Italian food. Pasta dishes were delicious and abundant. The pasta sauce is superb! We paired our dinner with a nice bottle of red wine. Service was fantastic!
Outstanding food! Noise somewhat took away from the dining experience!
Very good food and service. We really enjoyed our meal. It is very loud and can be hard to hear when you have a large party.
I’ve lived in the North End for five years now and Trattoria il Panino is my favorite restaurant! I always take visitors there. The lobster ravioli is the best.
Our first visit in 3-4 years. It has expanded and we didn’t expect that. Remembered the cozy little location on Paramenter St. gfood and service still good. We were seated towards the back near the bar. Noisy and dark.
Excellent food and service. Would definately eat here again.
Excellent restaurant. Authentic Italian cuisine. The only slightly sub-par experience is that my glass (instead of bottle) of wine seemed a bit old and tasted vinegar-like. Other than that, it was fantastic. The lobster ravioli is off the charts. We’ll be back - but maybe order a bottle of wine vs by the glass.
