Trattoria Il Panino
and back of the house form a desirable marriage. The entrance on 260 Hanover street has a full liquor license.
Best chicken parm!
Great service and great food!
We had a wonderful waiter, Antonio, and ate excellent food. They took our reservation right on time and did not rush us at all.
Service was excellent and the food quality was beyond exceptional!
Very delicious, excellent service and recommendations.
Food was excellent
Great team work ... Gladys, Mike, Joey, Pete & Matteo
We had a wonderful dinner at Trattoria Il Panino. My Hendrick's martini was well made, chilled and delicious. Our mozzarella caprese appetizer was a great introduction to the meal. We split the trombetta al pesto, which was delicious and more than enough for two healthy appetites. Finally, the staff was very understanding when they heard we were running late due to evening traffic. For a 6:30 reservation, they were able to accomodate us at 7:00. This really made the night and was very gracious of them - we would have completely understood if we lost the reservation. The fact that they were flexible and still had a table ready for us was so very kind. We will certainly be back in the future :)
It was terrific. The waiter was attentive and personable. He made great recommendations of food and wine. Everything was delicious ! We had a very nice evening and will definitely return.
Food was amazing! Love it so much! Thank you!
The VERY best in Boston. My favorite restaurant in the city. I know I’m getting A1 quality and service every single visit. I’ll be back this week.
This is now our favorite restaurant!!So worth the drive from NH!!
Absolutely no idea how this place is rated highly. We arrived and were seated in the basement next to a trash can and plastic shelves with dirty dishes. We ordered one app while everyone decided on their order. App comes and it was bland calamari more soft then crunchy but whatevs it was more for the kids. 30 or so minutes after placing our entree order we are told there was a glitch and our order wasn't pushed through but it would be coming out in a few minutes. 15 min later I inquire as we had a show to get to and finally about 5 min later we get our food. By then we had 20 minutes to be out (mind you we had been there well over an hour and a half) which isn't that tough as kids aren't about taking their time eating. However, what we wanted to be an enjoyable family night was not. The service as just described lacked thought and care. No apology was made and no item was comped despite the hour wait for our entrees. We were two adults and four kids so of course the 20% gratuity was charged something I usually don't mind as it saves us the time to do the math, but, in this case it was not deserving. As for the remaining dishes we ordered here is my take (I sampled kids meals):
Lasagna: very meh
Tortellini: quite tasty I think maybe a hint of truffle?
Ricotta Ravioli: not bad needs some spice nothing crushed red peppers can't fix
Carbonara: I liked it (my SO & I split this and the caprese)
Caprese: to be honest I didn't think this can ever disappoint, but, alas, always a first time.
Two stars given some of the food was food I'd probably like a lot and would go to try more had service been better. Sadly this experience guarantees we will not return.
It used to be my favorite restaurant, but unfortunately the quality of the food has gone down. Not was it used to be !
Food was very good but service was terrible! Our waitress said all of 4 words to us the entire time "what do you want". When the food came out the waitress never followed up to see if our food was okay or if we needed anything else. We had to flag down another server to box up our food and we're never asked if we wanted coffee or dessert just had the check thrown down on the table. Funny thing is our same waitress was joking and making friendly small talk with ALL of her other tables in our area. It's one thing if a server has a bad night but this seemed as if she was treating us disrespectful on purpose. You can definitely tell regulars or larger groups who will ultimately have a higher bill get preferential treatment. Our bill was not cheap either we ordered a 60$ bottle of wine, a 20$ appetizer, and two high priced meals and would have had coffee and dessert had we had the chance. I will definitely not be returning to this restaurant
Food was fine. Not the best I have eaten in the north end. Waiter was awful. He was more involved with other tables. Never offered dessert or coffee. Slapped bill on table and walked away.
Just not a good anniversary dinner!
Amazing prompt scrumptious and always consistent
Awesome place, as little expensive but worth it.
Was diassapointed, bland, overpriced... 25 dollars for parking
Trattoria il Panino has excellent pasta dishes, and great service! Great place to celebrate a birthday -- the tiramisu is delicious too!
Excellent service and delicious Italian favorites :)
This restaurant used to be our favorite Boston restaurant. This Saturday however we were very diapsappointed. I had the veal chop. A Favorite of mine. The veal had been pounded so thinly it was basically breadcrumbs. It was also very oily. My husband had veal saltinbocca. His was very tough. He barely ate it . I think we need to find a new North End restaurant. So sad.
Both pasta dishers were extremely salty. We were also sent to sit in a basement, crunched up with person sitting directly behind.
Glasses were spotted and plastic, cocktail wasn’t particularly good. Pasta was bland and the lasagna was cool not hot. The tiramisu though was excellent. Service was average.
Food was absolutely amazing! Very traditional menu with great options for all types of appetites. Great wine menu and many "by the glass" options as well. If you are looking for authentic Italian food with a lively dining experience this is a must see. The only draw back was there is no waiting room so bring a jacket because you have to wait outside Brrrrrrrrr
The restaurant was good and the food was delicious. We were seated right away, which was awesome. The dining room was quite loud, however. I felt as though the server was too busy for us. We had to repeatedly ask for forks, and he rushed through the specials. He did, in his defense, have a very large party. He seemed to relax more once they had finished and left.
Wonderful food, great service! Definitely will be returning
Had an amazing visit as a first time visitor! Chicken parm was great and the staff was so attentive. Loved the location and authenticity.
We've been going here for years before Celtics games as they seat early. The food and menu hasn't changed and has become predictable and mediocre, just seems tired. The staff and service is very good and makes up for some of the decline. The front room is very drafty so best to go to the covered 'outdoor' room.
Wonderful for Italian foodies! Great Boston location. And another plus, Valet parking!
Highly recommend the porcini ravioli - amazing!
We were seated immediately and received prompt attention from our waiter. The food was delicious.
Great food and wine!
Food was exceptional. Service was at best so-so. Been there many times before and usually great service.
Had a reservation and seated immediately. Service we quick on a Saturday night. Left with a kiss from the server (Maria) who was amazing.
Waitstaff was very attentive. Good came quickly and was great. A little loud but added to the experience. Would definitely go back.
Fish was cold and pesto was runny. Waited for 20 minutes even though we had a reservation. Had to yell to speak to a person across the table.
My absolute FAVORITE restaurant in the North End! I always make take friends or family here if they are visiting. It also makes for a perfect date night. Everything from the service, to the wine, food, it’s a staple and you won’t be disappointed. The Porcini Ravioli is out of this world!! Must try if you like truffle anything.
2 of our meals were great. The special was ok the veal was tough
