We went to a fundraiser at this restaurant. The food was fantastic.
We went for the first time as a mothers day celebration. The menu was prefixed which was ok for those who like everything but for the one like my daughter who only.limes pasta was a very poor selection. Only one choice so she en up asking for the sauce.on the side and the spaghetti was just butter with pasta for $25, a costly pasta plate. Everything else was good, the cocktail “sexy blond” was good, and my food choices were Excellent and delicious. And desserts were delicious too.
We went for Mother's Day. There was a special limited menu for the day. There wasn't a single kid friendly option and we were told there were no substitutions allowed. Our waitress finally was able to get the kitchen to agree to doing two plates of plain spaghetti. Those cost $20 each. I was disappointed that a specific Mother's Day restaurant menu had no kid friendly options.
We started with the pizza appetizer. The dough was delicious, and the best part of the meal. The sauce was overly sweet. We also ordered parmesan truffle fries. The fries came out limp, and were lacking in both truffle and parm. My wife ordered a glass of red wine and my son and I soft drinks and iced tea. These were ordered with the appetizer. It was the last wine and tea we would receive throughout the meal, as the server never asked if we wanted more over the next hour. My son did receive a refill on his soft drink. For entrees we ordered the spaghetti with pistachio cream sauce, lobster ravioli, lasagna with sugu sauce, and braised short ribs. The spaghetti noodles themselves were nice, but the sauce was thick and flavorless, rather than a nice cream. The lobster ravioli was ok, and the sauce for it was again overly sweet. It also had some shrimp that were added in, but I’m not sure why. The tails were left on the shrimp. The is ok for a Shrimp dish where the shrimp is visible (scampi, grilled shrimp, etc), but not in an opaque thick sauce. The lasagna was so-so with again, overly sweet sauce. For some reason this sauce and the sauce of the lobster ravioli also reminded me of something jarred or canned for some reason. The short rib was just ok. It came with a side of risotto, which was just swimming in the sauce that was poured over the short ribs. Everything was missing salt. There was also no salt on the table. There was also no offer of parmesan. All dishes were either bland or sweeter than they should have been. Our server was nice, but not as attentive as we would have liked. The lack of a second beverage throughout the meal being the main pain point there. We sat outside and the constructed outdoor seating was done very well. The music was modern and a little louder than I would like for a restaurant (I like it loud usually), but maybe it was there attempt to block out street noise. It wasn’t awful, just disappointing.
Was there for Mother’s Day and the food, service, and atmosphere was perfect. The food is great along with a varied variety. Server and staff were all very friendly. Only suggest, turn the music down for indoor dining...a bit too loud. I’ll come back for sure.
NO PARKING 1 PERSON ON VALET FOR PARKING NO ONE WAS HELPING WITH THIS MATTER
DID NOT SIT US CUSTOMER SERVICE SUCKS!!!!!!
Tim was an excellent server!!! We wanted to try everything but he was able to help us narrow down some amazing choices. We can’t thank you enough Tim!
Had the meatballs, very tasty, could only eat one, enough for lunch the next day. The ambiance is great, sat outside, nice patio. The staff is great, really take care of you. Will be back.
Food and service was wonderful. A great addition
to Old Town. Valet parking on Friday & Saturday.
Everything was amazing and we had great service! We loved the music but it was a little loud when trying to chat at dinner. That’s the only thing I would change!
Food and service was excellent. I'll be glad when dining is back indoors.
So glad we found this gem. We ended up going two nights in a row
We love Trattoria Don Pietro for it's delicious and authentic Sicilian food, and the fantastic service and servers, hostess, bussers, food runners. They are all so friendly and they are like family to each other and to us as well. The owners are fantastic and always looking out for their customers and staff. We go there every Sunday evening and love the place!
Great food, awesome service! Loved it! I also really loved the effort put in for my birthday. Will definitely be back!
The service and food at Don Pietro are superb. We had the brussels sprouts and the beet salad appetizers. Each was well prepared and seasoned well.
Our pasta entrees of penne in pistachio cream and tortellini with pesto were perfectly prepared. The pasta was fresh and the sauces were creamy and delicious. The salmon was also quite delicious.
The music is good, though it is played really, really loud, and it was difficult to hear conversation with others at the table.
The food and drinks were delicious. The service provided was one of the best I’ve ever experienced at a restaurant. Definitely will be going back!
Great Time Superb Location We Will Definitely Be Back Food And Service Is Phenomenal
The ambiance is energetic and the food, beyond fantastic!! Try the bread pudding...even if you think you don’t like bread pudding, you’ll LOVE this one.
This place is a vibe and is the perfect place to enjoy yourself and have an amazing meal.
So tasty! Great new
Great food, services and atmosphere! Sangria was delicious too. Will definitely return soon.
The food was FANTASTIC!! Fried calamari had the perfect amount of crunch, the arancini was devoured, the fig ravioli, seafood linguini, and rib eye...gone in a flash! We wiped our plates clean! We topped off our meal with a bread pudding which three of us split. Won’t do that again....we’re each going to get our own! We’re looking forward to going back soon.
Food and service was exceptional! Best lasagna I’ve ever eaten! Deserts were spectacular!
Great food! Pork Chop is spectacular!
Went there for our anniversary and it was awesome 👌thz u will be back!!
Great food. Excellent service. Terrific experience!
Nothing about this place is Italian. Lox is not the same as salmon carpaccio. If you ask for parmesan they give you a to-go plastic cup... even though you are dining there. The sauce in my pasta was congealing by the time it got to me. Loud club music. It feels like it’s run by a group of kids. The food was overpriced and below average. Very disappointing.
I was very impressed with our waiter, He gave good recommendations to the wine and food. I would definitely go again!!
LOVED the outdoor patio table with built in heaters. Great sea bass and yummy salads!
The food was spectacular and the wait staff were very attentive and knowledgeable.
The service and food was excellent.
The peeps here could not have been any more accommodating! Food, music, atmosphere was spot on! Can’t wait to go back!
Second time here. Authentic italian dishes, paired with friendly service on a great street... value all the way.. lovely experience.
Our anniversary was well spent having dinner there. The server treated us so special and the food was outstanding. Can’t wait to go back!
Love coming here. Excited for them to get their liquor license. The service and care is always top notch!
The food at Trattoria Don Pietro is delicious. The first time I went I had a short rib with risotto, absolutely scrumptious. I visited again and did not see it on the menu, I was a little disappointed but decided to ask our waiter if they had it, they did!! They did not disappoint, cooked perfectly and served over their delicious risotto. I will certainly visit again. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Kudos to the chef and the entire staff.
Waitress was beyond sweet and their Sangria was one of the best I’ve had.
Delicious - we all tried something different on the menu to get a taste of the various dishes. The owner came out to great our table - what great service, we will definitely be back!
It was Valentine’s Day, so very busy for the restaurant industry. On top of that, restaurants had just opened in California due to Covid restrictions. We were visiting at the last minute from Nevada, and so we could not get a reservation at any restaurant that we were familiar with. We finally got one at Don Pietro ‘s. I had never heard of it before, but we took a chance and we were so glad we did! We were sat promptly, in the section that we had requested. Nice! Service was outstanding. Very prompt and courteous. The owner even came over to our table and asked if everything was OK, and we had a lovely conversation with him.
And the food (which is what you come here for, right?) the food was just wonderful! The sea bass was the best I have ever had, and I have eaten a lot of seafood in my life. The braised short ribs were divine, as was the lobster ravioli. Cocktails and desserts were also outstanding. The only drawback our party could even think of was that there was no kind of bread served with the meals. Maybe we overlooked some we could have ordered? Anyway, our party agreed we will come back here and eat the next time we are in the San Diego area. It was really, really good.
