Food was "fine", outdoor seating "fine" but when the music is so loud you have to shout and ask someone 4 times (including the manager) to turn it down and it was finally done very, very little.....all I can say is the overall experience was horrible. We would have gladly lingered and had another glass of wine, coffee, dessert but all 4 of us wanted to get away from there as quickly as possible. They are severely under staffed (server told us) with a minimal menu and nothing printed at all with wines - you just tell the server what you want and he tells you if they have it...just odd but I have a lot of sympathy with what restaurants are going through. But it doesn't excuse the treatment we got last night - such a simple request that wasn't important to the manager.
The drinks were very good and the ambiance was nice. Our food took over an hour to get there and not once did someone update us on if our food was on the way or why it was taking so long. It was upsetting to wait over an hour for 2 pastas and no one acknowledging how long it took. I will say our busser Hector was amazing and kept coming to our table to see if we needed anything!
Extremely horrible service . We waited for two hours to get our food on the table . They had so few servers but yet they were just filling up all the guests on tables and just couldnt serve food to them. We waited for drinks for one hour and the food for more than two hours. With kids along , they even said that they don't have pizzas too. The food is average and nothing great . The server was very very arrogant .
Delicious 🤤!! Amazing customer service. Just perfect.
This venue is decorated beautifully but plays clubbing music which felt out of place. Everything is a bit over priced. We tried one thing from every section of the menu and were disappointed. The food was just okay, but presented nicely. The birthday we were celebrating was not acknowledged in any way. I'm not even sure why they asked. The only thing we really liked was the smores cocktail.
Easy making and changing our reservation time. Great hostess and first communications with waiter. Loved our cocktails. Loved our beet and tomato arugula salad but the tomatoes were missing. I alerted staff and they said oh, you want some tomatoes? They brought a small bowl and dumped them in salad. Weird, but okay. Would have rather have them tossed in w dressing. Pizza came with pasta dish right away ( not finished with salad) and we weren’t ready for them. No room on table so he took it back to kitchen and commented I hope it doesn’t dry out. This wasn’t our main waiter. A different guy brought the food and must not have gotten the memo we didn’t want food together.
He brought it back after salad finish with the same comment. I hope it’s not dried out. Lol
Well, the pizza was good - not fantastic prob cuz it had been sitting 15 minutes or so extra. It was rather well done but good. ( prob kept warm ) The pasta dish was good, but yes! A little dried out. Lol. Well - he did warn us.
2 nd round of drinks was a little ( lot ) slow.
Then the waiter brought the check and hoped we had had a good meal and we’d come back - our reply was can we have dessert? Oh! You want dessert, ok! Had some churros that were ok-good. We paid then went across the street to see the Old Town cemetery.
Side note. Our table was close to the walk way sidewalk outside ( I asked to be seated outside.) I didn’t care for table. It was a 2 seater. Didn’t like all the food traffic passing by so close. Next time if we go back ask for table closer to the wooden wall.
The atmosphere and the food were superb. Our waitress recommended a lot of our food choices. But the pizzas were my favorite. From the time my party and I arrived the service was outstanding!
Food was creative and delicious. Our server Alyssa was fantastic and attentive. We eat Italian food a lot and this was definitely top 3 ever…and we spent a summer in Rome!
Excellent experience! The food was amazing, the drinks were fabulous, music was great, service was superb, and the atmosphere was lovely! Overall a wonderful dining experience. Will definitely be back to enjoy this restaurant.
They were out of pizza dough and Parmesan cheese. The server needs to be trained on how to wait tables. He did not take our drink order until we asked him to. I felt the bus boy deserved the tip, he was doing all the work. They played loud techno music which was not the ambiance I was looking for in an authentic Sicilian restaurant. I would not return.
Amazing experience. Ate dinner at the bar and the food was great, drinks were great, and service was even better.
The food was great. We’ve been looking for a good Italian restaurant. The decor is very pleasant.
- Regretfully the service was poor. We were a family party of 13 ppl. Our server was very slow. We sat there for almost 30 minutes before our orders were taken.
- The Music was way way to LOUD! When a request was made to turn it down it was ignored. We were there for dinner not a nightclub. It was difficult to have a conversation without shouting. If possible sit outside away from the sound system.
- We made an online reservation noting it was a celebration dinner for a birthday. No mention or congratulations we’re addressed to the birthday celebrant.
- We were there on a Wednesday evening at 6:00pm. I’m going on the assumption it was just a bad night. I will try them again, the food was that good.
Super cute place! Great music, good vibe, service, food, and drinks can use a bit of work. Been here twice and not impressed either time.
Loved the ambience, excellent service & great food !
Loved the atmosphere! Servers were very accommodating since we came in to celebrate an occasion. Food was delicious, we got the sfincione, beef lasagna with traditional sauce, and paccheni… soooo good!
Sangria is also good!
We felt extremely rushed as the food came out so quickly. The pasta was nothing special and something I could easily make at home. Overall was not impressed. I do have to say the ambiance is nice and our waiter was great.
Made the birthday celebration special
Don Pietro is absolutely amazing the staff and workers are phenomenal and go above and beyond to make the restaurant an amazing dining experience. definitely recommend !
This is been my first visit to the restaurant the staff has been impeccable every single time the food has come out hot and the service was exemplary
Service was good. Initially assigned a wobbly table. We were moved to edge table with bench and a chair that was pretty low. Music was a bit loud and did not seem appropriate for decor. Food was very good but not exceptional.
Really great service!
First ones there with reservation and our table wasn’t ready. We happily agreed to sit outside. It went downhill from there. The servers seem to be annoyed with every request, politely as we make it. Don’t know why. Bad day? Stay home.
The food was ok. The location is ok. Service was good.
You definitely feel that you are in a tourist area.
We made a reservation for seven and they tried to stick us at a table designed for four with seven chairs crowded around it. After complaining, they pushed three two tops together which still left one end of the table crowded. The noise level was terrible. Rather than experience the ambiance of an upscale Italian restaurant, we were bombarded by music more appropriate for a 20-somethings nightclub. We asked the noise be reduced so we didn't have to scream at each other, but were refused. The waiter explained the owner was a younger guy who wanted to give the restaurant a more American feel. Apparently, the owner has never been in an upscale American restaurant. My pasta was undercooked and my son's steak was so overcooked that he gagged on it, had a piece stuck in his throat, and had to go to the hospital for a medical procedure. Do yourself a favor and find a good Italian restaurant in Little Italy or elsewhere.
The music was way too load to enjoy a conversation
This place is amazing. Love the food and the atmosphere. Plus the owner is so nice!!
Best authentic Italian in San Diego. Plus, Old Town has a lot of shopping, and points of interest nearby. Great food, NEW cocktails, and wonderful ambiance.
Food was decent and the ambience is very contemporary but the noise level was deafening. We had to move outside because it was impossible to have a conversation. Great energy but please turn the volume down.
Service was terrible, food was delicious.
Such a great place, the staff is so accommodating and polite. Definitely coming back. The owner is delicious! 😜
Beautiful restaurant & excellent food. Service was lacking. They brought our main courses while we were still eating our salads. They literally moved plates around & left them. We felt extremely rushed. It was not relaxing at all. It felt like they just wanted to turn the table over. If they have a time limit for each res, they should tell you upfront you have this table for X amount of time. The waiter actually seemed irritated when we ordered dessert.
It was a perfect date spot, hang with your sister spot and spend time with your friend spot. Love the food, service is very good and sitting outside is nice watching people go by.
Our experience was amazing and so was our server Vito, we will look forward to go again!
Being seated indoors was loud and dark like a club. The food was good. The ambience wasn’t great
The food was FANTASTIC and the service was friendly and quick. We ate in the outdoor dining area…. It’s beautiful! Highl recommend this restaurant.
Food was excellent, lasagna and the wedge salad. Good lemonade also. Service was efficient and friendly.
Was very impressed food was amazing and service was 100%
Great romantic restaurant. Pietro & Joe are great hosts. Fun night out for all. Great to have this Italian option in old Town San Diego.
The ambience was so pretty very aesthetically pleasing her, however the food did not match the vibe of the restaurant. The calamari had zero flavoring, the gnocchi came out cold, the pizza was average. The drinks however are very good, our server was doing the best he could however you you can tell that his hands were full with the many other tables he had. However the food is the reason why we will not be back.
