Loved Trading Post, exceptionally friendly staff, food was excellent, we highly recommend this establishment and seating is not crammed close to each other if your worried about catching a bug at this time, plenty of 'space'.
Food and service consistently 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Another fantastic meal at one of Sonoma County's finest restaurants. Just simply delicious.
Excellent dinner, wonderful service, all around sweet evening
As always, the TP was fabulous and we even went there for dinner the very next night.
Great service and food!! So happy to have Trading Post in Cloverdale.
If you are looking for a 2-3 page dinner menu this is not the place for you. Dinner menu is set & quite compact. Price is reasonable given the fact the ingredients are sourced daily & locally. The food is great.
As a starter we had a Caesar salad ($13) to share since it's meal on it's own the mushroom potato croquettes are to die for and the tamarind steak house it's very good. I had the Fried Chicken Thighs ($17), chicken was lightly breaded and cooked well through but not dry. Chicken thighs were pretty big. It comes with pickles which I'm not a fan of but then it's not a deal breaker. The endive coleslaw was great too. Make sure to try their pudding with the Moscato d'Asti dessert wine. It's delicious!!
Improved service. Like new regular hours. Love changing menu
We had the perfect Valentine's dinner and loved the food, wine and service. Our first courses so good we had to share with each other. Mine was crab cakes with a decadent avocado salad, Paul's was a celery root soup with friend truffles and lemon oil. For our entree we both had a decadent filet with amazing cognac cream sauce with capers, perfectly cooked broccoli rabe and scalloped potatoes. The accompanying wine was a gorgeous Beaujolias which paired great throughout the meal. Our dessert was a trio of profiteroles, each with their own pastry cream - chocolate, rose and orange. We ate every bite (a rarity for me!). The waitstaff and management were very attentive and personal and even though the restaurant was busy, the noise level was low and we never felt rushed. This place is a farm-to-table gem worth making a special trip to Cloverdale. We want to come back to experience their Sunday brunch asap.
Dinner was great. They could of included a glass of wine with dinner. Dessert was outstanding
Creative chef's using seasonal ingredients to prepare outstanding food. They are open M-W for fast casual fare you order at the bar with wines and beer by the glass (you can order bottles of wine off the wine list), Th-Sat they offer fine dining and you really can't miss with any of their dishes and on Thursdays it's half price a bottle of wine night :) Sunday comes along and it's "Sunday Night Supper" an eat until you are full, set menu that incudes soup or salad, entrée and dessert. Priced accordingly for adults and children.
Delish! And beautiful setting
Well worth the 15 minute drive north from Healdsburg. The food is excellent and great service. We eat here every time we visit which about 4 times a year. I highly recommend.
Excellent food at reasonable price
The food was amazing! Ellen, our server was wonderful. The atmosphere was great. We will be back!
Beautiful food with great taste and service. I have been bragging about my experience ever since. Not only was the food fresh and delightful but so was the staff. My family has lived in Cloverdale since 1966 and I am so proud of this restaurant. Thank you, Cheri Torvick.
Trading Post never disappoints. Wonderful fresh, delicious food served by great people. There is something for every palate and did I say amazing bread and veggies and fish and pasta and meat!!Our favorite spot!!!
The food is wonderful and locally sourced. Even something as basic as a deviled egg has a unique flare and memorable. The chef is talented and meets dietary requirements with creativity.
The steak was delicious. The pasta was terrific. The salad was enough and more for three diners. Always very good at The Post!
We came for Sunday brunch and really enjoyed the setting and the food. It was the perfect place to enjoy a meal while visiting with my sister. The menu is limited, but the items on it are done very well.
Service was excellent. The food was good, expensive but good. Very limited menu. I was told they did not have the fried green tomatoes, that the chef did not even know they were still on the menu. I was offered potatoes fried in duck fat, i don't like duck fat. I said it was fine and that my meal would be enough. Next thing I know here come the fried green tomatoes. I said nothing, I thought they did not have them but like magic, here they were?????They were good but make up my mind. Current Scone was great also. Fried chicken sandwich could have used more flavor. Over all good food but way to expensive for what you get. It is just food!
We all enjoyed our brunch this morning, something for everyone
Changed menu and feel completely. For Cloverdale now.
We love Trading Post.
Such a gem..
We enjoyed the soup and fried green tomatoes, then the trout on a risotto .
I ordered the Curry and was a little disappointed , while the dish was very well prepared , I found it very heavy (rice, potatoes, mushrooms and curry), but then again ,it was well explained on the menu , should have picked something else....enjoyed it for lunch the following day : )
Lime meringue tart was delicious and Sabina our server , once again was great.
Worth the drive from Santa Rosa...every time.
Service was excellent. Mature servers, went mid week and not real busy. Wish they would bring back the rib eye for 2 and missed tater tots cooked in duck fat off menu??, but portions generous for price.
Best brunch, loved our time there and the food was the best we've had there since they have opened. Highly recommend.
Lots of potential. This restaurant has the bones of a great dining experience but needs to remedy some major flaws. We went on a Sunday morning for brunch. The website and sign out front boasted about live music, but none was present. It was a gorgeous afternoon in wine country, but the patio was closed. The service was comically slow, but our server was very personable, helpful, and knowledgeable. The food was tasty, but they were out of many items and everything was a bit on the pricey side. It seemed like everything was delivered with a miss. It's clear these folks are passionate about local food and I wouldn't mind paying the premium to go here if they hit it out of the park, but sadly it was a miss for us.
Very good food and atmosphere! The gazpacho and salads were outstanding!
Food is delicious. Service way too slow. Need more wait staff with friendly personality and trained to multi task. Sunday brunch music is the best!
I really like the open feeling & style of this restaurant. Plus the chef’s innovative menu items are great.
Service was great, food was exceptional. Very happy!
Saw this place an article on 20 Sonoma Restaurants only locals know about and had heard good things. I like to be positive so I will start with the fabulous item, a special Appetizer of duck liver that was a delicious fluffy almost foamed with a caramelized crust and a plum sauce......nice wines, pleasant staff. The rest of the meal for 4 - A $15 “Caesar” salad made with baby greens and radishes? Diner said the anchovies were good - Fried chicken thighs were very large and were eaten with no comments...., Vegetable curry -sauteed mushy eggplant and squash with cold cherry tomatoes and some yellow curry powder with a splash of coconut milk over white rice dish remained half eaten after two people tried our Caesar diner who was still hungry almost finished it - Pulled pork - barely pulled stringy pile of pork reheated until dry under a salamander served with potato salad smothered in a heavy tasteless white creamy sauce, the tiny metal sauce container of some excellent pickled veggies was excellent. 2.25 hours for two appetizers and four entrees(including the salad). Oh the tater tots fried in duck fat were not very interesting - super hot, when
cooled enough to eat okay but nothing we'd order again - they had rave reviews. Don’t go on a Friday night in summer unless you want to park 1/4 mile away there is a free music street fair on their corner "Friday Night Live". Sorry hope it was an off night! read other peoples reviews it seemed popular.
Food was inventive, beautifully presented and delicious. Service was slow despite the fact that at our early hour, the restaurant was only 1/4 full. Perhaps slowness was due to fact that there was a party of 12 who had probably been seated 15 minutes before us. Our real disappointment was with the ambience. We had made reservations 5 days ahead for a 5:15 dinner for 4. We were shown to the end of a big communal table and I believe the hostess said "we'll put you by yourself on the end of this table." 5-10 minutes later, before we had received any food, a party of 6 was seated at the same table. Between the unavoidable greater noise of a party of 12 behind us and with a party of six adjacent to us, the noise level became unacceptable. Our party consisted of 2 couples who have only recently gotten to know one another and that is the reason, I think, that none of us spoke up and asked to be moved because there were 2 tables for 4 in the center of the room that would have been much more comfortable and private for us. It would have been thoughtful and gracious of the hostess to have invited us to change tables when she needed to seat a party of 6 at the same table. And ... if the party of 6 had also had a reservation, then she should never have set us at the communal table when there were 2 open tables for 4 in the room.
It was very good. We did have some requests to add or modify our dish and they did not accommodate. Other than that. It was wonderful
A culinary delight! The absolute perfect balance of local farm fresh ingredients, a simple yet sophisticated menu, relaxing environment, knowledgeable pleasant staff, and a darn fine kitchen! Cheers!
Booked table for 8:00 during Friday Music event. Expected it to be very busy; it was not. Seated right away and then waited 15 minutes for someone to ask about a drink or menu selection. No one asked and we finally left.
This restaurant was recommended by the staff at J Winery. The food was delicious. We shared lots of appetizers, and all were tasty. Our dinners were also top notch, when they finally came out.
The waiter, however, was the worst we have ever had, anywhere. I don’t where to begin to describe how bad the service was. We had 10 people in our party, and we had a reservation. First, the server brought only half the wine glasses. Then he complained that someone took the glasses “that he cleaned”. When one person ordered a salad as a meal, the waiter ribbed him. At that point, we thought it was a little inappropriate, but seemed good-natured. The waiter was not present for over an hour while we waited for the food to come out. We saw him behind the bar making himself drinks several times. Of the 17 items we ordered, the waiter actually delivered 3. The very nice bus boys delivered the rest. At one point, the bus boy was clearly frustrated that the server had not delivered plates for our appetizers. A number of times, we heard our server say that he was supposed to get off at 7:00, and he was still there. When it had been an hour since we ordered, we wanted to ask about the status of our meals. He obviously knew we were going to ask, because he walked by our table and simply shrugged. A little later he came out and said that the pork chops take 30 minutes. The laundry list of problems goes on and on.
We arrived at 8:15 exactly, the time of our reservation. The waiter took our order promptly. Our main courses arrived at our table at 9:55. The food was delicious. However, our server was squabbling with other staff who were covering for him.
When we asked for the check, it took a long time, and it was delivered by another staff member who said “look it over”. From behind the bar, out waiter called out “is that second bottle of red on there?” (It wasn’t.) So, we got a revised bill, and paid in full. It’s unfortunate that such a good meal was spoiled by poor service.
A real find. We have been there twice in one week. As good as any restaurant in close by and fashionable Healdsburg.
FANTASTIC food and FANTASTIC service by Chris. Highly recommend. We will definitely be back.
If I were limited to 2 words to describe the dining experience at the Trading Post, it would be "elegantly rustic." Drive just 15-20 additional minutes for a meal that will rival (or surpass) anything you can find in Healdsburg. It's difficult to recommend any single dish because the Trading Post's menu varies with the cycle of nature; the menu is built around fresh ingredients from local farmers which are then elevated by the inspired creativity of chefs Erik Johnson and Aaron Arabian. Consider, for example, the lowly and oh-so-common "tater tot." At the Trading Post, decadent squares of potato goodness are deep-fried in duck fat to a uniformly crispy amber color and served with an aioli made from champagne vinegar and creme fraiche. The salad special the evening we visited was a perfect example of the truth that we eat with our eyes. The presentation of Early Girl tomatoes, fresh peaches and shaved goat cheese dressed with elderberry vinegar and sprinkled with an aromatic but delicate rose oil was almost too beautiful to eat -- but we did, anyway. And if you're in or passing through Cloverdale Tuesday through Saturday before dinner time, the Trading Post has just recently decided to open from 7am-5pm for a "Bread and Coffee Bar" (their artisan breads are so popular they even have a Bread Club program!
