Trabocco Ratings and Reviews
We tried the calamari, a benchmark for Italian restaurants in my book. Very light batter and perfectly crunchy without overcooking. The sauce was tomato-y without being ketchup-y, and nicely peppered. The bowl of olives, almonds and ricotta salata was simple and simply delicious. Our waiter, Marshall, was well versed in the menu and made a perfect recommendation for the wine based on our guests' palates as well as the entrees. There was an ample selection of seasonally imagined entrees for every taste. A lovely evening, perhaps to be repeated after Christmas shopping at South Shore this season.
MY dad celebrated his 92nd birthday here. Giuseppe was great with my dad. he had delivered his desert to him My dad was very impressed. He made his zabaglione warm which my dad likes. We have frequented this restaurant many times. I had the lamb shank which was out of this world. So tender the meat fell off the bone. I have also had the rabbit and polenta which is very good also. We will be back soon!!!
When you walk in you are instantly greeted and feel at home. The chef actually comes to your table to talk with you and even says hello when you first arrive. The food is unbelievable and fantastic. You will want to come back three or four days in a row. its that good
Amazing, personal service! The owner/head chef came by multiple times for my husband's 40th birthday and paid special attention to my daughter, who has a hearing loss. She loved the viewing window where pasta was being made. The waitress brought out tiramisu for my husband's bday. It was a special treat! The staff also cleaned up the milk my daughter spilled all over the floor without batting an eye. Lovely night! Very special celebration.
Great dining experience from the quality of the wait staff to the quality of the food. The menu offers great variety. The specials were all seasonal. The wait staff is attentive but not intrusive. The desserts are a sweet treat to end the meal. And, they didn't rush us. A great place to celebrate a birthday or get together with friends or that 'date night' with your significant other. Loved this place will definitely visit again and again and again (I think you see where I'm going with this.)
We enjoyed a wonderful evening celebrating a milestone birthday. There were 6 of us. We all had a cocktail to start, followed by appetizers, main courses and dessert. Everything was delicious. There were many specials. The server did a great job of explaining them. She also reccomended a great wine. I had the Branzino special. It was a whole fish served with head and tail but totally deboned. It was fabulous. Others had sea bass, squid ink risotto, pizza and the salmon special for the evening. Everyone raved about their food. If you find yourself in Alameda I definitely suggest going.
Went with another couple for his annual birthday celebration. My only negative thought was that it was a bit noisy. The food was excellent and the service was just right -- attentive, but leisurely. We shared a potato-octopus appetizer that was absolutely perfect; the most tender octopus ever. I had another seafood plate with scallops, shrimp, etc. that I enjoyed a lot. My wife had a ravioli dish that I thought was great; can't comment on my friends' dishes but they seemed happy. Outstanding desserts too -- panna cotta and gelato. I recommend the restaurant for special occasions, though I thought the bill was very reasonable -- $165 with tip for 4 people, including 1 glass of wine.
A disappointment this time. Waiter was rushed and largely absent. Lamb ragu was loaded with small bones and other inedible parts and oxtail had large pieces of bay leaf inside the raviolis. The tiramisu continues to be the best I have had. The quality of ingredients and the flavor overall continue to be spot on, but the quality of service and care in preparation seem to be suffering from the pace demanded by the volume of customers they've attracted.
Loud, they forgot the antipasto until after the main course, the chicken was reheated and dry with tasteless vegetables, the gnocchi was mostly squash and the whole thing tasted like nothing but common mushrooms, not even cheese, it was way over priced and the server was a bit flippant about her mistake. The seating was uncomfortable, and the people at the next table almost left because no one would come and take their order. I won't be dining here again.
Wonderful ambiance on the patio! Very knowledgeable staff with helpful suggestions regarding wine selection and food pairing. Excellent seasonal choices from locally sourced ingredients - the Invernale salad delicious, as was the seasonal risotto. I will definitely be returning!
I eat at Trabocco relatively frequently. It really is an Alameda gem. The food, the staff, Guiseppe, the experience overall is always satisfying. If there are only 2 of you I recommend sitting up at the bar stools where you can watch the kitchen staff work.
Wonderful food and a wonderful atmosphere. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a great meal in a great environment. The staff is very attentive and friendly. Our server easily answered any questions we had about the food. We sat in the back outdoor area. The four of us enjoyed everything we ordered including desserts, which we shared. This place is great for groups or a romantic dinner for two.
