I was impressed with the variety in the menu offerings and the service.
Great restaurant. Service was perfect and food delicious. Open, bright and noise level was good so to be able to have a business discussion.
Townhouse is a go-to for business lunches. The portions are a good size, the food is good - it isn't great; but, it's never been "bad". It's always really cold inside though, the noise level is very high, the chairs were wobbly, and the service too a while.
I had a client lunch meeting here this week, and I'll definitely be back. Service was quick. Food was delicious. And we were able to hear each other talk easily.
We went to Townhouse on the coldest day of the year and it was around 50 degrees inside the restaurant.
The restaurant was FREEZING. To be expected I guess for a place that has an entire wall of windows in the middle of Chicago winter. If you like eating with your coat and gloves on this is the place for you! Even the staff walks around with their coats on.
I got the asian chicken salad, not great. The chicken tasted as if it was fried in the same oil as old fish sticks, and there was a two pieces of black hair baked into the chicken breading. Gross.
Great spot for a work lunch.
Server was great. Restaurant was loud though. Hard to hold a conversation. Food was good. Pricing was commensurate with quality. Would return.
The waiter was very knowledgeable and friendly, making my reservation was easy and there wasn't a wait.
We are thre before Lyric Opera. Traffic was terrible so we were late. We told our server. She and the whold stqff were so helpful to get us our food and drinks quickly and process our check early. Great service.
Food was below average. Ordered the kale salad. Was served iceberg...they were out of kale and they didnt tell us or the server. Cuban sandwich was tasteless.
We went to Townhouse Chicago before a Lyric Opera performance. It is very close to the Civic Opera House, the food and service were prompt (important with 7 pm starting times this year), and though somewhat on the noisy side, we could still have a conversation.
I eat here occasionally, as it is next door to my building and there is a dearth of business lunch spots in the vicinity. Food is always good. The issue is that the seating is cramped and the acoustics are bad. Way too loud.
Great happy hour specials. Our server (Dionne, I believe) was efficient and friendly. The busser was quick to fill our water glasses or remove dirty dishes. I will definitely be back.
The food was excellent!
Always great food, cocktails, and service at Townhouse! It's definitely one of my lunch go-tos with coworkers.
Love these guys!
This restaurant has always been a good choice for before the opera. I miss some of my favorites like bacon jam and carrot purée but the new additions are satisfying and well prepared. My only complaint is that the room is so dark and the oil used to light the table had an unpleasant petroleum oder. However the chocolate cake made up for any small difficulties.
We will be back.
There are no words for how poor the service and food were. No need to return.
Pleasant and convenient restaurant and bar near Union Station. Wonderful appetizers. Great service. A bit pricey.
I have been to Townhouse many times and always come away pleased with the food and service. This time, there was an issue with the heat and it was very cold throughout the restaurant, which made the experience uncomfortable.
Reliable business lunch option. Had a Thai chicken quinoa bowl and enjoyed it.
Food and service were very good. There apparently is construction on one of the walls near the entry of the restaurant which opens up the restaurant to the outside air. It was quite chilly in the entire restaurant and halfway through the meal I had to put my coat on. The server indicated that the problem has been going on for some time. It really would be difficult to enjoy a meal or drinks in the winter months as long as this problem exists.
The restaurant was very cold inside, temperature-wise -- seems like the insulation may not be great due to the outside wall being all glass (we had dinner there on the first cold/winter-temperature night of the season). Our waitress was wonderful--friendly, helpful, and attentive service. The food was solid enough for a post-work outing, but I would not go there for a special event.
cold inside! it was a cold day
my guest had way too much sauce on his turkey burger.
Great for after work! Had a business dinner after work and it was a nice quiet atmosphere at 6:45. Delicious selection and variety—something for everyone. Nice service!
Love this place. Great food, fun service, perfect after hours spot to shake off the week.
Very noisy, only good for a quick drink after work. Food was OK but nothing special.
We ate here for a pre-opera dinner. The service was very attentive! The turkey burger I had was very very good. French fries were top-notch. The other guests were mostly small groups of office workers from nearby companies. This place is very loud, that is my only complaint!
This place is close to our office and offers predictable dining. The staff is exceptional. Friendly, polite, and attentive.
Not ideal for a business meeting. Too loud. Food is also so-so. Cocktails looked impressive.
Townhouse has a great look and feel. The high ceilings and glass windows create an openness. The food options were good. The view will only improve when construction across the street is complete. A good alternative for business lunch.
Food selections was good. It is very load at lunch during the week.
The staff is very friendly and attentive. Our waiter made sure we had all we needed and was the perfect blend of attention and leaving us alone to have our conversations without much interruption. Noise level is a little high but tolerable. Food was great and served quickly which was important for us as we were out for lunch.
Took the team here for lunch since it was billed as a good meeting place. Screaming is the only way to get your point across as the space is a huge echo chamber. The service was fast and our waiter was attentive refilling our drinks without the need to ask. The food was excellent and good value. There is construction taking place next door so outdoor seating is not ideal at this time.
I liked the restaurant in general. I ordered tacos and chicken wings. Steak tacos were great but my chicken wings came out burnt. I got buffalo wings but it looked like blackened chicken. I couldn't return them because I got the chicken wings as a to-go.
It’s a really great atmosphere outside on Wacker in the financial district. The menu isn’t anything super unique but the food is definitely better than average and really cheap. Also $12 cocktails.. down
Second time at Townhouse, a rare repeat visit for us. It's upscale pub food essentially, but every dish wows a bit more than you'd expect. Plus, at a very reasonable price. And our server, Zach, was excellent... matched the fun of our slightly inebriated group. Highly recommended.
Good spot for a business lunch. When the weather is nice, sitting outside is wonderful, as it's tucked off Wacker and there is little sidewalk distraction. The food is creative and I liked the tacos and the black beans had a nice little kick to them.
